Mourinho sacked

Everyone rejected him apart from Chelsea when Madrid sacked him. Why would they be wanting him now?

Mourinho never comes with no strings attached.

Not so sure nobody wanted him, more the timing wasn't right, no way he'd have gone to City then anyway when United were still a possible, us in our blinkered wisdom opted for Moyes, and he'd always said he wanted to come back to England so it was Chelsea or nobody, and this is a guy that is always working so sure waiting was never an option, as wouldn't Liverpool or Spurs.

He is a top draw manager and could attract top draw players, yes there would be some concerns, youth and longevity the main two, but if Pep really is off to City, and Carlo wants an easy ride at Bayern he would be a high class back up, a class back up with a huge point to prove and cash to burn.

Mourinho's reputation is build off the fact that he gets results. When he is not getting results what is he bringing to the table? If anything Chelsea should have let him go sooner. They have been poor all season with no signs of improvement. Something needed to change.

Sheesh it´s been in the news all day here in Portugal. First time i actually wish i was back in Wales.

Has anything leaked out about why he failed to motivate the current squad? I still think he's a top manager, but you've got to question why he's messed up whether he'd be able to avoid it in future.

Based on his previous jobs, you'd have to say he's a ticking time bomb.

ShoutSport saying that a few of the senior players were unhappy with how Diego Costa kept on getting picked even though he's been shite, and his on field conduct is causing dressing room unrest.

This is a team with John Terry as their captain, remember.

(Allegedly) José Mourinho returning to Chelsea after this week's manager was fired:

That's a load of shite though. Madrid sacked him, Barcelona turned him down ahead of a nobody back when he was better than he is now, City's directors have turned him down, Man Utd turned him down.

Say all you want but evidence shows the top clubs know he's damaged goods.

Boooooooooooooo, bring back Jose for the lolz. Won't somebody please think of the lolz?!?!

I hope the guy can find some peace and spend time with his ill father.
He will be the next united manager. I am sure of it. He has always wanted this job. Ffs he gave an interview to mutv as madrids manager. I would like him here. i feel he got sacked conviniently, just to be on time for united .

What's this psychobabble about him being a broken man? Typical on here.

You don't have to be a mind reader to see someone's not happy. Psychobabble is reading into it and coming up with all kinds of in-depth explanations for why he is the way he is and what impact that has. Saying he's looked unhappy for a few months now is just pointing out the obvious. People in general are actually quite good at reading body language and facial expressions.

His dad had brain surgery and then had a few strokes this year. He's been getting better the last couple of months though. That had to have some sort of impact on him.

Given this happened, it's not hard to understand why either. People get caught up in all the soap opera drama of top-flight football but they're real people involved in it, not actors. It's not in any way shocking for a man to have a setback in his life and need to take a bit of time away from work to regroup and recharge.

Now that he is in the news today because of this I like to remind people that Michael Emenalo was coaching a girls u-12 team in Arizona before Avram Grant brought him to Chelsea.

Madrid sacked him yet allegedly want him back, We all know United made an almighty error in Moyes who was appointed for more sentiment reasons, having been Madrid manager going to to Barca is not really an option, and I hadn't heard that about City.

All I'm saying is the guy is a serial winner, yes he comes with risks attached, but a lot less than many.

He is a winner and he guarantees trophies more than anyone else in football even Pep. One bad season is not going to change that. But the other poster is onto something that no big clubs wanted him. It is not his personality in my opinion as I think the most talented people in any field can get away with anything if they offer enough. It is however the fact that his teams play reactive underdog football. Barcelona raised the bar with their dominance and if you are rich and big enough, it is no longer enough to win trophies. The big clubs are looking for their reputation now, trying to play front foot football where they push high up and dominate games. The clubs that hired him were in a desperate position from Chelsea looking to make the step up in 2004. Inter looking for finally do something in the CL after all those barren years and Real looking to end Barcelona's dominance. If you are a big club however looking to play with a style and identity, he is pretty much useless which is I think why United, Barcelona and Bayern did not consider him. His best chance now is PSG if they decide they really want that CL trophy whatever way it comes, Real if they drop their ego and decide that 1 title in 8 years is worth the hassle or ourselves if we decide that we are desperate enough to need a trophy as soon as possible.

Michael Emenalo, Chelsea's Technical Director, has done an interview and it's causing a storm:

When a manager loses the dressing room, unless you sell every player in the squad or there is a turnaround of biblical proportions, it's over.

Jose had to go.

We had the same issue with Moyes, and I fear we are having the same issue with Van Gaal. The players stopped responding to their manager ages ago. Holding on to him, hoping they would suddenly start liking him and playing for him again, would have been a massive gamble.

Chelsea made the right call to save their season. They saw Jose and the players had no chemistry and they acted. There's a lesson there.

I hope he comes back and knock us out of the CL again and again till the time fans like you realise what the club have let go off.

Seriously pissed off at the club right now.

Hahah... dippers gonna stay burnt.

Atleast we will always have 27thApril.

Meltdown alert.

I think he's off to PSG next. They want to win the CL and they have a bottomless pit of money.

Any transcript?

Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo is currently talking to Chelsea TV.

And it’s pretty full-on.

Why have the club decided to pull the plug now:

“That’s exactly the point. A contract clearly signifies that what happened today was not a pre-meditated decision. It was a decision taken to protect the best interests of the club.”

He also says there was a “palpable discord between manager and players and we feel it was time to act.”

“Whilst there is huge sentiment for the individual who has done so much for the club, the fact of the matter is Chelsea Football Club is in trouble. The results are not good, and there obviously seems to be a palpable discord between manager and players and we feel it is time to act."

“I think the same people need to remember this is essentially the same group of players that won the league and the League Cup last season. They did it in style and by showing commitment and by sweating blood and tears for the club when needed.

“They played to instruction to everything the manager asked them to do, so I think it’s very easy to make that kind of inference, but it’s not one that the club accepts.”

“Obviously we know now the players have a responsibility to go out and prove everybody wrong and show a certain level of commitment to the decision that’s been made to try and get the club up the league table. That’s what they have to do, that’s what they’re supposed to do, that’s what they’ve been trying to do.

“You’re not a big club if you don’t have contingency plans for situations like this and we’re a big club who have quality coaches embedded within the club and I think we will be okay for Saturday.

“We will have competent people come up and help with preparation for the game on Saturday. Make no mistake about it, the club is working vigorously and actively to make sure that the situation regards to a managerial appointment is taken care of as soon as possible.”

There is a huge gap between being unhappy (which we only have a small sample of 90 minutes a week to base that on) and being a broken man. You really don't hear that term being used often, for good reason. Again it's mostly an issue of word choice.

Based on?

Awww... just 7 laughter emoticons to hide the agony that the great man has put you through.

Anyways, I guess you have a bin to forage, just about now. :D
See I dont want Mrs Loblow and Loblow junior to go hungry tonite.

Youre fickle. Who cares about survival, the club survived well enough prior to 97 as well. You just dont let a guy like him walk away like this.
The club clearly lost the plot with the transfers. Its Emenalo who should have been sacked. What else were we going to get with papi jilobodji and falcao.

Proper fecking ruined my vacation.
Shit managers need transfers to have a good season.

out of your mind much?

The player trading commodity business has clearly become more important than holding on to the best manager of the current day, what a sad state of affairs.

According to recent reports we aren't interested in Mourinho anymore. Laurent Blanc should sign a 2 year extension very soon, it's only a matter of details.

Sorry to see Jose go. Barmy decision IMO and the players should hang their heads in shame. I hope Chelsea go down.

So you think not signing a couple players means the team will fall into relegation form, no matter who is manager? Sort it out mate. Mourinho should be doing much better than he did and was deservedly sacked for it. I'm not saying he is 100% accountable and I am pissed at the whole club for how we fecked up but Mourinho was spiralling out of control with this squad. Wishing anybody beats the club you support is fecking nuts though. Mourinho is just a guy, like anybody else and I couldn't give a shit about him winning once he is gone, certainly not at the expense of Chelsea Football Club.

That make sense, I don't see Mourinho and El Khelaifi getting along and I doubt that prince will accept a negative approach during big CL games, they could accept it for one champions league but not more.

How boring - they're already like 17 pts ahead or something and not lost a game...and that's with Laurent Blanc in charge!

Such a stark difference in the way United and Chelse operate.

When Di Maria pussied out of the Premier League, we sold him, and kept Van Gaal.
Hazard Di Maria-ed his injury against Leicester, and Jose gets sacked for losing the squad.

Edit: Taken out of context, yes, but you get the point. Player-power vs. Manager's Say.

PSG or a different kind of "Project" in some up and coming country now then.

He's never going to pop up at a top 6 outskirts team, he needs huge money.
