If they were in the know, why didn't they report the bid when it was made? They only come out with this line after what Ronald Koeman said yesterday, next please.

That's one thing I've noticed about reports

sometimes they aren't incorrect they are just lagged, we bid for ramos last week but the news only truly surfaced yesterday. People thought we bid twice but it was just the lag in reports.

We could have possibly dropped our interest in Schneiderlin after Turan was so vocal about wanting a move to the Premier league.

Isn't Turan an attacking midfielder? We have tons of them. We need players like Schneiderlin who can play a bit deeper and defend the back 4.

Why would we drop our interest in a Defensive Midfielder because a Winger mentioned he wanted to come to the PL?

We havent got back with the 2nd bid. But I think negotiations are going on and the 2nd bid will be that once clubs agree about the fee.

Saints: "No, that bid of £20m isn't enough, we want £25m?"
Woody: "Ok, £21m?"
Saints: "Nope, we can do £24m, but that's it!!"
Woody: "£22m?"
Saints: "£23.5m?"
Woody: "Final offer, £23m"
Saints: "Deal"

All done and dusted, in one phone call...

Not sure why it takes fecking weeks to sort out agreeing a fee...

that's so bad. 1/10.

They don't fill the same role though.

This makes no sense.

Contrary bunch today!

I never said they fill the same role, I simply meant they could possibly want to wrap up a transfer for him! Perhaps we will return to sign Schneiderlin, but didn't Turan insist he wants a transfer finalized this week?

Besides we are missing an attacking cm with his physicality, Mata can't carry out that role and was shunted to the right wing.

Everybody knows CEOs still work on fax machines, and the paper doesn't reload for about a week.

Getting real muppet time now.

Telegraph / Sky / BBC saying just this morn that we are signing him this week. Now sky saying bid rejected, we havent met the price, no further contact since.

IS IT JUST UTD? Every summer, same sort of things, obviously we have loads of rumours cos of who we are and the interest it causes. BUT why don't other clubs have the bid confirmed, sky sources suggest its being done, then complete back track. Some of it rubbish from the start I accept. But others must be us not doing deals very well surely. Its early summer yes so long time, but 2 players Ramos and Schneiderlin with the latter looking / sounding pretty much done then to be pushed back. Either we have leaks that aren't concrete, or sky turn into muppets too and heighten stories to create interest, or we aren't very good at deals and good leaks come out too early when deals aren't done then we cant close.

Just find it odd. Literally look at the difference with Liverpool, Chelsea doing deals, even Arsenal with Cech dragged a little but details stayed about right not many clubs have estimated prices coming out confirmations of dates coming out from what we would think are credible sites not just the rumour sections (skysports / bbc) for it all not to progress. Was hoping following a couple of quick deals last summer and Depay this that we would get our buying processes sorted a bit more....maybe not.

It's because we fill columns and sell papers. With every transfer its yo-yo time on and off until it's completely confirmed. Just look at Memphis, nobody had a clue and half the papers said he was off too Liverpool, then we announce we've made a deal  it's all just guess work by half the tabloids, but I feel if we really want him he will come, and Southampton will let him go.

If LVG wants him, then we'll pay what they want and he'll come.
As was shown with the Depay transfer, if we have to move quickly due to interest from other parties then we will.
I'm pretty relaxed about this one, think we'll get it sorted in the next week or two.

Yeah I'm a little surprised Saints are playing such hardball if it is going that way and rumours are true.

Trouble is we are starting to get a reputation as being prepared to pay over the odds. Shame really. Maybe we need to create some fake rumours about us refusing to buy cos price is too high. Or just get Ed to continue to rinse cash.

Maybe Im talking rubbish and just focusing on utd for obvious reasons. Arsenal were linked but less credible sources with Vidal deal. Same with City not getting Sterling deal completed as yet. BUT it does seem like that one at least the bids did actually happen.

That's pretty long, the team will be in the USA by then.

Completely different players.

Yep, none the less they might see Turan as being more vital to next season's preparations and perhaps want it concluded.

Or not.

Who bloody knows any more with United's transfer dealings.

So is the rumour that the first bid of approx £20/21m was turned down? Buyout clause of £25m?

The worlds most profitable football club, haggling over £4m! This is the kind of thing that gets United a bad reputation and club dislike dealing wit us for transfers.

Seriously, just cough the money up and get it done. I can't for the life of me understand why an increase of £4m in a transfer should be such a delay for a club of United's stature.

By this date one year ago, we had two players signed already. Yet this summer we were told a number of times that business would be done early?

I'm sure it's that simple.

I very much doubt Southampton can make him stay twice in a row. Though as a thank you he should actually stay another year because his career would have been already wasted if they had let him join Spurs last year.

If they have rejected a bid of 25m, maybe it was 25m including add ons. I'd say that they want closer to 25 up front.

It's not Wheeler Dealers.

ah Mitten, that "King" of inside knowledge.

Don't tell me...we erm...didn't think he was that good, then watched him, and realised, actually he's quite good, we'll bid for him.

cheers mitten

Last season was just too much muppetry by Woody, now we are paying the price this summer
