29m isn't a bad deal for him. Hopefully it's done soon, this waiting game is getting infuriating. He's the player I want most.

This one will get done. I've a strong feeling. The reason why there's no news, is probably because everything is pretty much agreed, and it's just a case of officially submitting the bid to start the process.

Getting real muppet time now.

Telegraph / Sky / BBC saying just this morn that we are signing him this week. Now sky saying bid rejected, we havent met the price, no further contact since.

IS IT JUST UTD? Every summer, same sort of things, obviously we have loads of rumours cos of who we are and the interest it causes. BUT why don't other clubs have the bid confirmed, sky sources suggest its being done, then complete back track. Some of it rubbish from the start I accept. But others must be us not doing deals very well surely. Its early summer yes so long time, but 2 players Ramos and Schneiderlin with the latter looking / sounding pretty much done then to be pushed back. Either we have leaks that aren't concrete, or sky turn into muppets too and heighten stories to create interest, or we aren't very good at deals and good leaks come out too early when deals aren't done then we cant close.

Just find it odd. Literally look at the difference with Liverpool, Chelsea doing deals, even Arsenal with Cech dragged a little but details stayed about right not many clubs have estimated prices coming out confirmations of dates coming out from what we would think are credible sites not just the rumour sections (skysports / bbc) for it all not to progress. Was hoping following a couple of quick deals last summer and Depay this that we would get our buying processes sorted a bit more....maybe not.

  • Chelsea still havent signed Falcao officially
  • City still havent signed anyone officially despite how many bids for Sterling
  • Liverpool are signing players with little competition from anyone
  • It was reported Arsenal were going to sign Cech last week monday, Cech and his manaement came out and denied it and a week later he signed.

Calm down mate.

It's officially the first day of the transfer window. I expect this to be rapped up by the close of the week with just the minor details to be ironed out. I'm staying clear of the Ramos thread for now. I bet looking back this will be added to the list of trasfer that never happened like with Sanchez, Ozil, Benzema Sneijder, et al.

Signings have to be coordinated in terms of balancing the team and budgets.

So yes there will be messing around but then stuff should all slot into place nicely.

Regardless of who everyone else buys I'd still see Chelsea as by far the strongest. The more you buy, the bigger the settling in period needed....and they have Mourinho.

It is not the number of players which other teams buy, it is dependent on the quality. If City get someone like Pogba, it will improve them a lot. Same is the case with Arsenal and if they are able to get a world class striker (using Benzema just as an example here). So if Chelsea sit still, they will be overtaken, Mourinho or not!

Why are SSN and BBC so misleading when it comes to us?
Because nobody ever stops believing them and it gets them what they're after; views, retweets and clicks. The former spent 3 days, including several hours of "Sky Sources" headline breaking news, saying we'd agreed a deal to sign Gundogan 2 months ago and yet the majority of people still take everything they say as gospel.

People stop being daft, this is clearly done. Theres a fair bit more to transfers than just agreeing an amount with club then agreeing a wage with players.

Think of the fee. Even if the two clubs agree on the eventual amount, how you end up paying that whether it be cash, monthly instalments etc, then there's add ons like appearences etc. All this takes time, especially when numerous lawyers are involved.

Anyone bought a house? Takes 3 days to get any acknowledgment from solicitors.

Announcement by friday. It will happen relax

I'm refreshing this thread far too much, expecting there to be something new every 2 minutes. I've got muppet fever.

I'm losing hope that this is going to happen. We're probably not even interested, and its all just media hype.

He's going somewhere, as he gave an interview saying "The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days,"

Koeman said they've not received a serious bid (did not deny a bid).

I think we're interested, just Woody taking his time.

I was, admittedly, being a bit OTT with my last post. We're obviously interested, but I just don't think he's a priority. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't go back with another bid.

What if, big 'IF'... We end up not signing him for some reason?

I would seriously flip out

I am sure this is done, it's similar to Depay or even di Maria deal when after being claimed by almost every newspaper that it's close to be done nothing happened for a few days (OK in di Maria's case for a couple of days).

Not really keeping up with everything in the last week as I'm away in Mexico but it seems we've gone back to being rubbish at signing players!

Love how people think that we wud bid 25m but then turn out noses up at 30:lol:

Ed is probably saying it's too cheap and wanting to add a couple zeros to the end.

I think he's definitely going to you lot and this is just bargaining. I mean to you he's worth more than Shaw and Fellaini and he's homegrown. But no one else is in for him so that brings down to their bargaining position. Arsenal we're in for him but won't pay over 25million or the supposed 120 to 150k a week he's demanding. A good player but a tad overpriced. The only way you lose out is if City come in for him.

I like to be positive about our transfers and dont tend to panic but some posters are sure its done but dont know based on what.
If its a similar deal to Memphis' one (news about us agreeing a deal, than nothing, then boom deal is done ) thats all right but we dont know that. Unfortunately it can turn to be bs in the end which would be a massive shame.

Agree with that.

I think by some reports it was quoted at 20m, not 25?

Either way, if we want a player and feel he is the right person to fit the bill, we won't bat an eyelid over paying 30m for him. Did it for Shaw and depay, even fellaini. If we truly want him we will do the deal IMO.

30m is acceptable, considering his top potential, he'll be upgrade on Carrick straight away. Hope he doesn't go to City, they are after homegrown players too..

They have not been in the mix now and I don't see why they would be. Plus most people agree that a fee is all there is to agree.

City seem interested in Song. Keeping costs low on a decent squad player who is also homegrown in Song will allow them to spunk away on Sterling et al.

You think he's better than carrick already? Wow
