30 million isn't outlandish.. if that really is what they're asking.

Just throw them another couple of million.. To the fax machine, Woody!

We seem too busy with the Ramos project. Rightly so. Southampton can wait.

Given the number of journos who have reported it, it's likely we've told Schneiderlin that the deal will be done this week and it's leaked from there.

That, or it's just another case of blind leading the blind.

This has nothing to do with Schweinsteiger. We made a bid 10 days ago, so we clearly want him.

The law of averages....and anyone who believes the club has also contacted swinetiger's reps

The law of averages?

Whether we're in for anyone else or not, it would be standard negotiating tactics to let the seller sweat for a while after your opening bid. Especially when you're working to a deadline at the end of the transfer window. Not following up an initial bid within 10 days really doesn't imply anything is "on hold".

The media seem to be reporting the asking price as £25M. Dunno how it'll be structured though in terms of fee up front and add-ons.

They'll accept £25m.

Probably between 25-30 I'd guess.

I'd imagine a lot of it will be how much Southampton want upfront etc, rather than the exact total.
Surely they're looking for nearer 30 if Koeman has described a bid of under 25 as not serious.

We don't know how far under £25M the bid was though. Sky just used "under £25M" to indicate that it didn't meet the value that has been reported as being the accepted price.

This one is as good as done, the last time I read 'but Manchester United haven't made contact afterwards' I woke up to the signing of Memphis Depay.

True. I was assuming it meant just shy of 25 but just reread it and it's very vague.

Ogden said yesterday that he'd be travelling up within 48 hours so lets see.

Why didn't they report our bid 10 days ago when it happened? Because they don't have a clue.

You can tell from Koeman's quotes yesterday something will happen.

Clearly we've made an initial bid. And it seems we've since spent our time convincing Morgan to choose us over Arsenal and have agreed terms with him/his camp. Also, I'm pretty sure we will only table one more bid after that rejected one. It will be the one we've agreed on with Southampton.

Do we know the amount proposed by United in the first offer?
And maybe the problem isn't about the amount but how the installment is structured.

Why are people on here thinking this off? We bid, it was rejected. So what? We'll come back in with another one. I reckon it'll be done by the end of the week still.

It's true to be fair. You can discredit many journos if this doesn't happen.

Not sure 10 days would be standard but whatever I agree with your point and their aim. I do however think there is some logic in opening bids being used to show interest in a player but also used to stall whilst feelers are but out on several other options. Itrs all about timing...we couldnt stall on Depay...we couldnt stall the Clyne transfer perhaps....do you get what Im saying?

I say this is just like Memphis, we're sure that we will get him so we're taking a relaxed approach and focusing on completing other business.
