He said last summer he wants to leave as well didn't he?

Although it does seem very likely that he'll be coming to us. So many reporters are saying it.

Hard to say. Seems he's been ambiguous about a number of things. I'll presume he's a Southampton player unless I see a tweet on the official United site suggesting otherwise.

Last summer Southampton didn't let him leave as they already lost about 6 players. Koeman said recently that he would let him go this season. And most saints fans seem to be resigned to losing him as well

He got slightly stitched up last year, as they pretty much sold everyone else, yet they chose to take a stand with him

Like any potential transfer, all we can go on is speculation until BBC, Sky Sports or United make an official 'it's done' statement.

If you connect the dots on this one though, he's most likely to end up a United player. He's definitely not staying at Southampton, LVG badly needs a alternative/replacement for Carrick and although there's a lot of rubbish out there regarding reports, there's also been some credible individuals mentioning our interest.

A lot of muppets trying to contain their excitement in this thread. This is happening, be positive.

Sounds like the usual give us more money reponse. At least this is confirmation that we are really interested and there are negotiations

The fact he's name checked us shows we are definitely in for him; just a matter of time.

It's quite clear they are trying to squeeze a few millions out if us.

Hang on, he's hardly going to say "Yes, x has been bid and it's been accepted" - you know what managers are like. Players aren't for sale and going anywhere, next day they sign for X.

Announcements by the selling club always come from press release, not the manager.

:)

Can't work out if this is positive or negative news. Could be interpreted either way.

Is the inside track that it's still on, MajicRed?

Like I said earlier, not heard anything further from what I said yesterday - but Ogdens stuff is briefed by Ed so it's on, as far as I'm concerned.

Could be things to iron out with Soton, I'm not worried and I *really* want this lad.

Suppose we've got to respect the fact Southampton want the best deal possible for him. The deal for Shaw seemed to take an age but all the stuff I've read since suggests it actually went very smoothly between the two clubs.

I need this deal to go through to convince myself that we are not in fact the victims of a twisted, complex plot from clubs around the world to pull our pants down and humiliate us.

It's perfectly normal to agree terms with the player/agent first. It then gives the club an upper hand negotiating with the selling club hand knowing the player only wants a move to United.

Most likely the agent will have told United the amount required by Southampton to close the deal anyway.

It wouldn't be embarrassing at all if they pulled down our pants. We've got a magnificent Woody under there.

It's only been ten minutes since you last posted in here, give it a chance

Seriously though, players are only coming back from holidays now to start pre season. Most deals don't happen until now until the window closes. Why are people so impatient?

I'd say this one is in the bag

This for me is a little underwhelming, to be perfectly honest. Definitely worth buying though. However, if we do sign him and Arsenal managed to sign someone better, such as Vidal, we would fall further behind them. In my opinion, of course.
