Great news. Hope we get Schweinsteiger too.

We'd have like four or five options to pick from in midfield, which we haven't had since 2007/2008.

I haven't been this excited about a midfield signing since Hargreaves.

(If the reports are to be believed)
Well he did miss 15 games last season from 3 different injuries :nervous:

Though he had no injuries at all during his time at Southampton before then so that's good. But as we all know, previous injury history means nothing when it comes to Manchester United.

Doesn't matter, he'll soon be joining Shaw in the physio room.

Gary Neville will be particularly happy if we manage to sign Schneiderlin. He's been raving about him all season.

Hopefully this report is true and it's wrapped up early next week.

i think we have lined him up for a long time already. just awaiting to wrap up most of our other signings altogether by 1 or 2 weeks before the preseason starts. if he really prefers arsenal to us i would say wenger should have signed him up weeks ago already. the latest rumor is more about to raise his terms when is about time to finalize the deal.

this signing won't hinder lvg from chasing schweini. but probably we will drop out our interest in gundogan. maybe lvg could give us a big surprise by signing all three of them!

We couldn't have made a more suitable signing this window tbh if we're being realistic. He has the potential to be a real success at United. Hope this goes through :)

Yeah that may be possible, remember when we signed Shaw then signed Herrera the day after? We then signed no one for aaaages but that's understandable as LVG needed time to review the squad.

If we sign him, will this be the first time we have a real defensive midfielder since Keane?

Edit: Sorry we bought Hargreaves.

Keane was not really a defensive midfielder and I really do not think Schneiderlin is either. Wanyawa was more of the defensive midfielder for Southampton.

Wasn't Anderson a stellar DM in Porto? Being called the next Gilberto and what not? Fergie tried to mold him to a box-to-box MF but he lacked necessary attributes to attack..

He mostly played on the left wing at Porto. And Anderson was the complete opposite he was an attacking midfielder that was turned into a box to box midfielder.

Ah makes sense. I remember him being brought up as a potential LB solution a few times so assumed he'd be a DM while at Porto.

Great news if the reports are true. He has been on my wishlist for the last 3 years. He is a work horse with lot of underrated ability. He can be our equivalent of Matic, who i think does such a great job at Chelsea. People who do not rate him now will see how good he is once he joins United or Arsenal.

He said Lovern was the best centre half in the league also.....

He was meant to be the 'next' Ronaldinho, and if your post was serious I guess it just goes to show how far he has fallen since his early days. :(

Personally, this would be our most exciting signing since Mata. Hopefully he'll have better season than the later, though.

Easing up Carrick, a midfield trio of Schneider - Di Maria - Herrera is the most complete in the league. What a salivating thought.

Hoping this is true, good player is Morgan. We could do with some experience at CB or CM, So Ramos or Pigkiller as well and we'd be looking damn good!

reckon we will pay 26/27 million...

get it done asap and we can look at other targets

its looking like Depay, Schneiderlin, Ramos or Ottamendi?, Schweini?, Fabinho?, a n other?

would be good to get these sorted - we're off on tour in 3 weeks now

The only one raving about him was our chief scout, a former Hibernian coach whose been sacked by his club only to land himself the chief scout role at one of the biggest clubs of Britain. His own brother SAF almost laughed at him as he described Ando as having more talent than Rooney. Such episode gives a better picture of the level of staff United had back then.

The Ronaldinho link came from some average journalist who knew nothing about Anderson and wanted to write something about him. It was evident from day 1 that the only thing that Ando and Ronaldinho was their nationality.

I feel if we REALLY want him he will come. Offer him the

so the people that voted him the golden boy winner were just going on reputation too?. A young Anderson pre injury clearly had bundles of talent, he just loved too party too much. I guess that's where the Ronaldinho comparison ends though.

Read again, I am not saying he was shit. I am only saying that he was nowhere near to the hype built around him. May I also remind you that not all golden boys managed to fulfill their early promise. VDV, Pato and Balotelli are among those names.

They were also all signed by big clubs, with excellent scouts, which completely negates your point about us only signing Anderson because our scouts were shit.

We bought a young player with potential. It's not our fault that he didn't turn out right and had injury issues.
