Yeah, I mean after years of this club going without trophies you'd think they'd see some sense like you when it came to transfers.
You are trying to sound smart but years of underspending is why we are in this situation now. How many hundreds of millions have we spent since SAF left and we still are far from where we once were.

If we do get Schneiderlin...we will have the best midfield in England without doubt.

..and we will go far in the CL too.

Other than for depth I'm not quite getting this (and I'm a fan of Schneiderlin) but currently Carrick is a better player and comfortably so.

Yes but he's injured too much. Only played 18 games last season.

With Delph turning down City, i have a horrible feeling that they may come after Schniederlin now. Want Woody to get this signing done as soon as possible. Southampton have kept him out of their 2 games on tour to avoid any injuries, get this done Woody.

How biased lol. Pirlo was a great goal scorer especially when he first broke into the team. Doesn't he also have 2 ECL medals like Scholes.

What's the ECL? You mean the CL? Scholes has two of those.

Biased? My first love is the Italian National team, my step father was first generation Italian, but I'm prejudiced against the best Italian footballer in his generation?

Pirlo is a pass master, or I wouldn't compare him to Scholes. But he doesn't specialize in those 'long bomb' passes that are inch perfect, he plays more soft balls over the top and medium range passes on the ground. And I've never heard someone say he could score like Scholes. Doesn't have his power, for one.

This...

We need 2 players per position for CL and EPL. My 6 players for the middle 3 would be...

Carrick
Schweinsteiger
Herrera
Schneiderlin
Mata
Fellaini

That would let us play big, quick, defensively, possession... however we want. And before you ask... ADM, Memphis, Januzaj and Young could rotate the wings.

Schneiderlin is a stopper, though his stats may show he has the capability to play as a central midfielder, I doubt that he has the capability to play in tandem with a midfielder like herrera in the way that schweinsteiger can.

Likewise delph and schneiderlin are two sifferent type of midfielders; to me anyway.

Well SSN have just confirmed again we are still in for him and expected to return another bid. He's ours fellas just a matter of time

I think we will have this wrapped up by next Tuesday

Schniederlin's a better player than Delph though and is still Home-Grown, if City were interested in him they would already be putting bids in for him. It's not as if they need to penny pinch anymore by going for the cheaper option.

even if we are not for him anymore it would be very stupid to let him sign for Arsenal, that would be even bigger blow for us when they signed Sanchéz..

How exactly? Looking at this window, we have to assume whetger schneiderlin comes here or not that van gaal and woody know what they are doing.
That is true but just imagine Arsenal signed him, that would boost their chances massively

I hope we are still in for him, we should be in for best leagues talents, when they are available, still think we are quite short on defensive minded midfielders but maybe Van Gaal has another converting plan for Schweinsteiger..

I'm not trying to sound smart, it's the truth. And you said "years of false dawns and underspending" which implies you were also referring to Fergie's era. In fact, you must have been because by your own admission we've spent hundreds of millions since SAF left. So you were pessimistic under SAF despite our dominance and you're pessimistic now despite us conducting our transfers exactly the opposite of how we did under SAF. I think you might just be the worrying type to be honest mate.

Yep me too. He would improve arsenal but i rekon that the other french lad that had a good season for them will get his well deserved chance.

The reason i think schneiderlin is good for us is not because of his performances for southampton but his approach to playing football. Whenever i see him for france, he guards the defence almost as a false defender.

Likewise our 433 can revert down to a 352 to provide us with more defensive stability in game if schneiderlin acts as a 'false CB'.

If we dont go for him, i rekon its because there might be a better target that fits van gaals view on how the team should line up.

You've not watched Schniederlin enough i guess. He isn't merely a stopper, he can play a bit as well. He is a different type of player to Schweinsteiger, and we have room in the midfield for both.

As for Delph, Schneiderlin is much, much better player than him. My worry is that he is considered "home grown", meaning he can help with City meeting their quota, plus he could be a good player for them instead of being just a place holder.

Exactly, keep blind as a starter for now, until shaw fixes his defensive capabilities. Even shaw's attacking is a bit more kick and run than blind who has been trained to play possesion football from the start.

I think Red Dreams is talking about Blind as a central midfield option

Of course i was talking about our spending under SAF, we haven't stopped spending since SAF left ,that was my point.
Its alright saying the sarcastic remark about not winning trophies but we are paying big time for that lack of spending now.

City don't necessarily need a starter though, and they need to boost their English contingent.
Add in the shockingly low clause fee of £8m, and I don't think it's too much to worry about personally.

If we are interested, and just trying to shave a mill or 2 off the final fee, it's a game of risk though.
