Wasn't he "ill" before the day he flew off for the tour? Maybe he hasn't recovered fully yet
Corrected.

And he asking them to feck off!Watch city come in for him now.
I'm being semi-sarcastic. I am quite pessimistic when it comes to our transfers though, even after last year, its what years of false dawns (transfer wise) and underspending does to some people. Why is RetroStu always so fecking negative and pessimistic?
Because City are weird. He's significantly better than Fernando/Fernandinho. He is also home-grown and while expensive, 25m aren't that much in today's market.I wonder why City never seemed interested in him. Quality player and home grown. Maybe he was too expensive a player for a position they already have depth in. Or maybe they'll atart sniffing around now. Deal isn't yet done to United so he's still fair game.
Maybe reports are true that we've agreed personal terms with him but not Southampton, if we had it would probably dissuade City.I wonder why City never seemed interested in him. I hope not but it's a bit too late for that I think. If they could jump in the same moment Arsenal dropped out of bidding war they might have a chance.Watch city come in for him now.
I don't think we have more money. We've been more capable of spending due to FFP.Why do people always worry about City?, we have more money than them while also being a MUCH bigger club.
Which hasn't changed, they still have to spend within their means. The point is we can pay what we want transfer fee wise (as our pursuit of Bale proves) and we can match or better what they can offer in wages, while also being a far bigger club.I don't think we have more money. We've been more capable of spending due to FFP.
Old Trafford's shirt printing machine may well sigh. As well as three kit launches inside the month of August, United remain interested in Southampton's French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. He came to United's attention with a man-of-the-match performance at Old Trafford in October 2013 as the Saints halted an eight-game losing run in M16. The Frenchman has expressed his desire to join United; his teammates think he's going to United. The issue is the two clubs agreeing on a fee. It's fortunate that United's kits are being released later than usual as they change manufacturers, for Van Gaal will likely make several changes to existing squad numbers.
And people pay him to read that crapMitten
Insightful as ever. The issue is we can't agree a fee. Didn't really think of that one.
Southampton journalist Alex Crook says he still thinks he'll sign for us. Answered a reply to someone on twitter about an hour ago.
Not even arguable IMO. Given the range of options and some sheer quality, it would be the best midfield in the country. If we get Schneiderlin now we'll have arguably the best midfield in the league. Only Chelseas would be comparable.
Plus we'd have six players for three positions which would be perfect really.
Chelsea's midfield is still excellent, mind. Not even arguable IMO. Given the range of options and some sheer quality, it would be the best midfield in the country.
Oh without doubt it is. But it's still a bit lacking and hence why Mourinho is reportedly in for a big signing there.Chelsea's midfield is still excellent, mind.
People also replying that Denis Law was the last to sign to United from Torino and not Taibi, which is correct.Mitten

Were there any other Southampton first team players who didn't play?Southampton played two different teams vs Valencia and Salzburg and he didn't play in any of them. Surely Southampton think he is still leaving. We need to make sure to wrap it up soon and not let other clubs come in and make it complicated.

I know Woodward wasn't in charge then but look how many deals have we lost out on because we have fecked around with fees or agent fees etc over the last 10 years or so, the same will happen here if we don't pay up.Woodward is fecking around with the fee, probably has a bit of an upper hand with the Schwein signing now, United not looking nearly as desperate as they did before. However, don't think Saints are going to budge too much either way, hope he finishes this off soon.
Why? It doesn't seem that we're in a rush or something. I think he was a backup option if Schweinsteiger didn't pan out.We need to wrap this transfer up ASAP. I can see City, Chelsea or Arsenal jumping in any time soon just to throw a spanner in our works! We need Schneiderlin to Old Trafford now!

Schneiderlin could play over Carrick. I'm not saying he's as good, but he brings something different. He'd certainly get a lot of games when Carrick is inevitably injured! Why? It doesn't seem that we're in a rush or something. I think he was a backup option if Schweinsteiger didn't pan out.
The situation for Schneiderlin is now different as well. I'm not sure he'll be picked if all of Herrera, Carrick and Schweini are fit.
Carrick and Schwein will probably have a lot of rotation between them as we have Champions League backWhy? It doesn't seem that we're in a rush or something. I think he was a backup option if Schweinsteiger didn't pan out.

I'd like to see us sign him as well. Quality DM, would allow Schweinsteiger to play in his more natural position, he's home grown and he's an ideal age. Why? It doesn't seem that we're in a rush or something. I think he was a backup option if Schweinsteiger didn't pan out.

Don't agree, the teams will come to an agreement eventually.I know Woodward wasn't in charge then but look how many deals have we lost out on because we have fecked around with fees or agent fees etc over the last 10 years or so, the same will happen here if we don't pay up.
