Money is Money.

They need money for a position or type of player we don’t need currently according to Ten Hag’s tactics. Whilst someone will be funding our money for the player of a position we deem worth investing in.

He is currently the hyped player among the United fan base - so it’s looking like we are giving Chelsea the money to the player the fans believe will make us better whilst it’s not what Ten Hag seems to think thus far.

It’s not a ‘great’ deal like activating Kim Min Jae’s release clause - it’s what’s looking like a standard price for a good to great CDM/CM which is around the 80-100mil mark.

It’s worth it for certain players that certain people want and it’s overpriced for players that people don’t rate.

It’s all just an opinion- but the money is the same and it’s ultimately crazy money.
Let’s not dress it up, Mount has been a disgrace for Chelsea the past 12 months - utterly abysmal from him. They are signing a far better midfielder and we are massively overpaying for a player that they no longer need.

A disgrace, really?

How is Caicedo a replacement for Mount?

Sounds like what people said about Rashford - highlighting a single players faults when the whole team is playing shit.

Enzo was just as shit for his self value but everyone gives him a break for being a shiny new toy everyone craves for.

I mean if you were judging Chelsea players on last season alone no-one would touch any of them with a 10 foot barge pole.

Yet here we are, the treble winners are about to sign 1 midfielder, the team that finished 2nd wants an attacking midfielder / forward from them and the team that finished 3rd likewise.

We all have opinions on signings, but better to judge a player how he does for your own team and system.

They won't sadly this is Boehly after all
Apparently they walked away from ugarte deal, so...they might walk away from this one too if Brighton prices them out
Rice/Caicedo is costlier because of Enzo.
Every winger with two limbs is costlier because of Mudryk.
So now when Chelsea comes knocking every club wants a big payday. Now of they decide financial restraint then they have to only target players with release clause which they have started to do with recent links of Jackson/Viega.

It would be funny if Chelsea decide to now become financially disciplined and lose out on Caicedo of all players. He probably would be their best signing after Enzo irrespective of the amount they spend on him (even 100m+)
Not a chelsea fan, but this is bullshit. Rice has always been costl

Not a Chelsea fan, but this is bullshit. Rice has always been costly before Enzo even set his foot on European soil.
Apparently arsenal offered the same transfer fee as chelsea for mudryk, but chelsea were just able to convince the player to join them.

The usual non-update from everyone’s favourite tap in merchant.

Ornstein reported Chelsea did indeed place an official bid of £60M two weeks ago which Brighton rejected immediately.

This is fiction. Moises has been in ECUADOR, so no player agreement is likely.

Hope we have a player in mind to bring in who can excel deeper in midfield as everyone else is strengthening whereas we are adding Mount (note I think Mount is good but not exactly a huge contributor in starting moves off or as a DM).

Provided everything gets sorted with new ownership I see this being our focus in January

Just hope we aren’t left with breadcrumbs as we actually need players in that area much more than City or Arsenal and as much as Chelsea

Would have loved him at United. Think he can be world class for the next 8-10 years. Seems we're not seriously in for him and expect the Chelsea deal to happen soon. They will find a balance under Poch.

A very Pochettino type midfielder, glad we dont seem to be too intrested at such a price.

Caicedo and Enzo on paper would be up there with any CM in the world.
Not now but eventually it could. Bags and bags of potential.

What’s a Pochettino getting type midfielder and why is he not worth the price?

I feel there will be enough deep lying midfielders good in the first phase available then

Ndombele, sissoko, Vitinha & wanyama. Just dont think Caceido is worth the near 100mil price tag, i think 60-70 mil is more accurate after a single good season post 22' in a very good system. 70-80m offers have been rejected so far.

I changed job 2 years ago (in the middle of the pandemic) - had interviews with my new manager and HR, negotiated my wages everything - never even met them in person. True, this wasn't Ecuador, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that they have internet there :)

not to mention its his agents job anyway

Brighton will want more than £70m+10m. This is exactly the same as us not wanting to pay more than £55m for Mount. Just because Chelsea want to get it done for that money, doesn't mean it will be.

And for those crying and saying 'we're funding they're move for Caicedo!', they're just about to sell Kovacic and Havertz for somewhere between £80m and £100m combined.

They'll have the cash to buy Caicedo, regardless of whether we sign Mount.

We still should be rivalling them for him

Yeah in an ideal world, but the fact is he'd cost close to double what we want to pay for Mount. There's also the fact you'd be drawn into a bidding war with other clubs, so even if you have a bid accepted he'll have his pick. Chelsea could throw silly money at him in terms of wages and agent fees. No UCL football next season won't really make a difference.

Spend that in Caicedo and you don't get a new CF or GK, especially not until the takeover is finished. Which probably won't happen until after next season has started anyway.

How much do you think the budget actually is
