Caicedo is absolutely the best player for the #6 role. His ability against the press is unmatched by any of our midfielders.@Adnan See the post directly above yours #2599. If EtH prefers a no6 and two no8s, probably Caicedo is better in the no6 role, surely?
Why didn't united look at tielemans before he went to Aston villa? That's the thing though. ETHs Ajax side had 2 players like Bruno operating ahead of a lone DM. Basically two attacking midfielders with the engine, physique and desire to press. He is basically building a system that requires a second Bruno in the XI.
The main reason Casemiro has gotten over run is when paired with Eriksen , Eriksen is almost a passenger defensively. So not enough pressure is placed on the ball by the two players operating ahead of him. Furthermore ETH has moved away from a set up that requires a DLPM. Thus hard working AMs ala Mount or box to box players like Rabiot or Tielmans would suit his new set up best.
Very interesting. And makes a lot of sense.Caicedo is absolutely the best player for the #6 role. His ability against the press is unmatched by any of our midfielders.
If ten Hag goes with the two advanced #8s then I believe a inverted RB will be sought unless people think Dalot can do the job. But I think we would probably move for a marquee deep lying midfielder if the ownership situation was resolved.
At Ajax ten Hag utilised his deeper lying midfielders to progress play from midfield. And then when de Jong and Schone were not a option any longer, he utilised his fullbacks in more central roles and pushed the two midfielders forward in possession. And the reason was due to both Blind and Mazraoui being very capable in possession within the system. But it's important to have a GK who is comfortable in possession and ten Hag had Onana and then Pasveer who were both good on the ball.
Casemiro has been a good signing and without him I don't believe we would've finished in the top 4. And he's given us a fantastic platform to go from strength to strength with a new owner.Very interesting. And makes a lot of sense.
How do you see Casemiro fitting in over the next couple of years?
Yeah, sure. All depends on the budget which, in turn, depends on who owns the club.Casemiro has been a good signing and without him I don't believe we would've finished in the top 4. And he's given us a fantastic platform to go from strength to strength with a new owner.
But we should be looking to bring in his replacement now. Casemiro is a fantastic player and still has a lot to give the team both on and off the field. But we shouldn't be relying on him as our sole pivot and should ideally be making a move for one of the more prominent names to take on the bulk of the responsibility in the build up phase.
But I don't believe that's possible with the current owners and we need the sale process to speed up. And with new owners I can see us making some significant moves and possibly hijacking a deal or two.

In a world where budget is limited, I’m happy with Casemiro and perhaps a free transfer from somewhere to keep him honest and fill in for him when required.
Good shout.Rabiot would be my free signing
We may never knowWhy didn't united look at tielemans before he went to Aston villa?
He'd have been a good pick up on a free transfer
He is the one guy I desire to replace Fred or Scott with. Can operate as an advanced 8 or in Casemiro's role equally as efficiently.Rabiot would be my free signing
I never understood the fuss with him. For a while he was fine but never good enough for a top 6 club, I think the fascination with him was he scored screamers every now and then.Tielemans is crap lads, his game has totally dropped off for 2 years. It would be a huge gamble for a big club to take him on. Villa is probably his level
Yeah I never got the fascination eitherI never understood the fuss with him. For a while he was fine but never good enough for a top 6 club, I think the fascination with him was he scored screamers every now and then.
His level has dropped off even more recently and wouldn't be shocked to see him only provide rotation to Villa and be out of the league in a year or 2.

I don't know why you bring Tielemans to that wonderful post. He is shit and would be a worse fit than Eriksen. That's the thing though. Exactly. The tielemans obsession needs to stopI don't know why you bring Tielemans to that wonderful post. He is shit and would be a worse fit than Eriksen.

He has the attitude of Deli Ali, will just be a passenger at United and already have enough of those.
Exactly. The tielemans obsession needs to stop
Tielemans is one of the worst central midfielders in the league for defending. He is absolute chronic at defending. He’s definitely not a player we need at United. We have enough passengers and no need to bring in any more. Eriksen will be the backup next season and when we get a new midfielder to start along side Casemeiro. Wouldn’t mind Caicedo though.I don't know why you bring Tielemans to that wonderful post. He is shit and would be a worse fit than Eriksen.
He’s honestly not progressed since going to Leicester. In fact he’s gone backwards. There wouldn’t be much improvement on getting him to replace sabitzer. Why didn't united look at tielemans before he went to Aston villa?
He'd have been a good pick up on a free transfer
Agreed. Every time I've seen him he has caused us problems. His energy and workrate are superb, he is exactly the player we need, he is almost as vital as a number 9 in our priority list.
Casemiro can be pushed into a number 8, he is so versatile and he scores a fair few goals too, plus he has the defensive discipline.
Caicedo for 75-80m is money well spent.
Straight race between arsenal and chelsea. We arent in the running according to the automated transfer tweets feed.
Guess hes the Rice backup option for arsenal.
Id be happy with a signing of any sorts. Have a hunch we are going to have a disasterous summer of ins/outs due to this immpending takeover.I really like Caicedo but I’d much rather Utd splashed out on Kane or Osimhen and got Lavia, rather than Caicedo and let’s say Hojland.
Lavia is ideal for us as Casemiro’s understudy and could easily play alongside him in tougher games. Easy to forget how young / inexperienced he is and that he is two years younger than Caicedo. In two years I think he will easily be at Caicedo’s level or higher, which is realistically the point at which he would need to start taking the reins properly from Casemiro.
Would be ecstatic if we signed Caicedo don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather our big money signing be on the CF.
That is most certainly true, but also not a reason ignore this guy. I'd seriously argue he fits us much more than De Jong. Not the sort of passer who can control the tempo of his side. That isnt in his game.
He's displayed qualities for Brighton this season that indicate it is his game. What makes the statement true? That is most certainly true, but also not a reason ignore this guy. I'd seriously argue he fits us much more than De Jong.
This isn't a criticism to say he's not on De Jong level. I think he could be close in few years time. I also think he has more all round quality to his game and I'd love to get him. He's displayed qualities for Brighton this season that indicate it is his game. What makes the statement true?
Lets hope the situation with the ownership resolve soon so we can actually start making some transfers and don't miss out most of the players by the time this come!
I really want Caicedo at Man United.
Yeah so would I as well
The problem is that for now no one is linking us with him, Fabrizio mentioned that United told Brighton to inform them for any news about his situation and to be aware of what is going on with him, but for now that's all.
honestly he would be a better signing for us than Rice and probably less expensive
probably...would be interesting to see though if EtH actually signs Mount and how that could alter things potentially IF we go back in for RiceRice will join Arsenal anyway
If we let Arse and Chelsea have this guy and Rice (who I don't rate as highly), it'd br criminal.
fecking Glazers.
The other thing I've not seen mentioned as much is he can play RB and he's more of a defensive one if my memory serves. This means we can sell AwB and have this guy as back-up for those games where we need more defensive stability if Dalot keeps messing up.Yeah I fear he goes to Chelsea
