Gaming Modern Warfare 2

I too bought the new maps, but we're both retards. I haven't even played them yet as my xbox is so fecked I can't join games. I have to 'piggyback' on friends connections, all of which were smart enough to not buy the shitty map pack.

I havent heard 1 person say anything good about the new map pack yet.

Still having problems with host migration and severs timing out but when it works I've been doing pretty well, managing to get the chopper gunner pretty consistently and having very few deaths too :)

I'm going on a motherfecking killstreak.

So it begins.

Sessler's Soapbox: Ex Infinity Ward Heads Shaking Up Gaming’s Power Structure - G4tv.com

There have been some new developments regarding Jason West and Vincent Zampella, the two heads of Infinity Ward that left the company under unique circumstances. As of this week they announced they would be creating Respawn Entertainment, a developer partnered with EA that would retain the rights to all the intellectual properties they develop. While this isn't a first in the world of gaming, these kind of deals are reserved for the select few, so The Sess decided to use this week's Soapbox as a forum for discussing what this may mean for the gaming industry as a whole. Do you think the ripples of this agreement will shake up how other publishers and developers work?

So far, the following seem to have left IW:

* Jason West -- President, Game Director (fired)
* Vince Zampella -- CEO, Co-Founder (fired)
* Francesco Gigliotti -- Lead Software Engineer
* Jon Shiring -- Lead Programmer
* Chris Cherubini -- Lead Artist
* Bruce Ferriz -- Senior Animator
* Todd Alderman -- Lead Designer
* Mackey McCandlish -- Lead Designer
* Steve Fukuda -- Lead Designer
* Zied Reike -- Lead Designer
* Rayme Vinson -- Programmer

Could tell they would end up at EA.... what this means long term? who knows...

Activision owns everything at IW, trademarks, code, art, tools, engine, etc. So these guys are going to have to start from scratch.

Seriously? S'pose they could use somebody else's engine to speed things along... for instance that cryengine I posted the other day ;)

The COD engine was a highly modified Quake engine as far as I understand, but I don't know if they would want to go down that route again. EA does have its own engines also, such as Frostbite used in Battlefield, and Renderware that Criterion uses. I've not played Bad Company 2, is it 60fps or 30fps on the consoles? IW would want something capable of 60fps, so if Frostbite can't do that, maybe what Criterion used would be a better starting point as Paradise is 60fps.

Despite all the wars, conflicts and battles that have featured in videogames over the years, perhaps the most thrilling stand-off is occurring right now in the real world.

Since Infinity Ward's top dogs Jason West and Vince Zampella were sacked by Activision, only to form Respawn Studios and sign a deal with EA, there's been a mass exodus of Infinity Ward's top members, which shows no sign of ending any time soon.

A month after West and Zampella's removal, Infinity Ward lost two more high ranking members when lead designer, Todd Alderman and lead software engineer, Francesco Gigliotti both left the company

The Infinity Ward exodus continued when veteran programmer Jon Shirin announced his resignation from the company on Twitter on Monday - followed by designer Mackey McCandlish.

Over the past week the ordeal appeared to pick up pace when Lead designers Zied Reike and Steve Fukuda, programmer Rayme Vinson and lead artist Chris Cherubini were all said to have left Infinity Ward on Wednesday.

The saga continued yesterday when long-time Infinity Ward staffers Mark Grigsby and Paul Messerly - lead animator and lead character animator, respectively - left the studio, according to their LinkedIn profiles.

To date it's known that at least 10 per cent of Infinity Ward's staff have departed the company - whether they will join Respawn is yet to be seen.

Doesn't look good for MW3.

I can't wait to play the new maps - got to wait a month for them to come out for PS3. They look great on YouTube - especially the one in the appartment buildings.

I already bought the new maps!!!

At least that was what I thought, I saw it on the PS3 Store, did a few clicks without ever reading what Im buying, so now I have additional maps for MW1 although I dont have the game. £7.99 wasted. Spastic.

I have just started using the M16A4 after always using the M4 before that, wow it's so much better. I thought the 3 bursts would feck me up but it's really helpful. Usually I can surprise the enemy quite well but it takes a shitload of bullets to kill them, now I'm doing awesome. Went 21 - 4 a minute ago, haven't had a good score like that for a while, usually really close like 9 - 8.

I've had 3 nukes in the last week after having never had one before in 6 months of playing. I started playing Ground War which I suppose makes it easier given there's more enemies to kill.

I wonder if Respawn would be tasked with bringing Medal of Honor up to speed, especially with the new MoH being released later this year?

I find the ACR to be the best so far. Tried the M16A4 for a bit but could not deal with the 3 bursts at all. Is it really so much better? Will give it a try again.

The M16 is solid if time your trigger squeeze, and even better if your aim is good. Usually chest level 3-round burst is enough. The ACR is great because of it's low recoil, but it takes a lot of rounds to kill (more than most of the other ARs). I'll run the ACR with Scavenger Pro and Stopping Power Pro to get the most out of it.

If you can get used to the SCAR's recoil by pulling/releasing the trigger for small bursts, I think it's the best all around rifle.

I'm very poor at using the three burst guns. I got my first two nukes with a scar but I switched to a tar and got two nukes. Tar has the same power, probably a slightly worse iron sight but a bigger clip and more mags. I use hardline because the gun is powerful as it is (scar or tar). I've used an AC130 for each of my nukes, I can't seem to use a chopper effectively despite everyone telling me its better and gets more kills.

Not played this game for ages. Couldn't get enough of MW1. Proves to me that this one is no where near as good.

Today's new game update came with a message about the new maps being available in the Store.

There's nothing yet in the store, however.

Yeah I noticed this also, strange. I'm not sure I'll pay £8 for them, considering there is a new game coming in a couple of months.
