Mo Salah

Yeah it was completely Evil Mourinho's fault it's not as if Chelsea had any Issue forcing players on their managers ,It was more the case of Chelsea misjudgment together with Mourinho's inability to nurture attacking young talents properly both Club and manager share the blame equally.
Its not really anyone's fault.

Those players would likely not have developed like they did if they didnt get the regular playing time and reduced pressure afforded by lesser clubs. It would have been fine if the players were willing to be on loan and not prefer to be sold.

They arent the first and wont be the last of such. its a simple consequence of Chelsea's over subscription model.

Salah is nowhere near the likes of Henry or even Bergkamp. And he doesn't possess the skill levels of Hazard. But Salah is much more influential than Hazard, in that he rarely disappears even when playing rubbish at times. There is a reason Salah will finish with a massively higher goals per game ratio in the PL than Hazard.

What’s that now? He dives a lot in an attempt to con referees?

To be fair he's stayed on his feet on numerous occasions when clearly fouled in the box.
Once VAR is in then this won't be an issue but until then you're mad not to go down and he's probably been told that.

But didn't Niasse get banned for a similar incident?

Possibly, but you're making the mistake of assuming that the FA apply their own rules consistently, fairly, or with any reference to previous precedent.

No contact.

FA appear to have enshrined into their policy the concept that if you're touched you're 'entitled to go down'.

In defence of the FA, that's the only thing you can actually quantify. If two players went down due to absolute minimal contact, & one was let off while the other was punished, there would be hell to pay (especially if it involved rivals) - And that's bound to happen when all these hearings are subject to human reviews. Differences in perception, positive/negative biases, hell, a difference in someones mood could be what separates a fine from a free man.

So, for purely practical reasons, this seems to be the best we can do right now.

That said, as a Liverpool fan/fan of football, I'll never condone any sort of playacting at all. Salah went down too easy for me, simple as.

Where are all pro paintshopers?

If it were Young or Lingard who fell like that, media would have hounded them for it. But Salah could do no wrong.
As far as the FA is concerned, I think they can't really give it as a dive. There was a touch, an attempt to pull back and it would have been called a foul anywhere on the pitch. Technically, the ref is entitled to give a penalty.

Ashley young got away with plenty probably one of the worst divers in the EPL

I've called him out for diving in the past, but I'm not calling him out for that. Sokratis is just kicking him in the back of his legs

It can be both. He wasnt brought down, he went down. Still a pen but Salah may develop a reputation soon.

'diving' is all about the feeling contact & hitting the floor as quick as you can, though

the 'no contact' merchants are in a different category - probably just 'stupid' - I don't know what you do about them, VAR I suppose

it's up to the refs to say - sorry, you're not having that, not enough in it - but they don't, unless it suits, who's playing & how they're feeling

so don't hold your breath

Another non-show in a big game against well-organised opposition this season. Just one goal (a penalty) and one assist in seven fixtures against the ‘Big 6’ so far in 2018/19 (both v Arsenal, incidentally - or not.)

I thought he went to the ground very quickly again, but the ref was having none of it. Feels like there is always at least one great RW in football who is a diver, he is the successor of Robben in that regard.

Salah's record against the rest of the "big 6"

5 goals in 7 games against Spurs

4 goals in 7 games against Chelsea

4 goals and 3 assists in 4 games against Arsenal

3 goals and 3 assists in 6 games against Manchester City

0 goals and assists against Man Utd

It's hardly a bad record (maybe except against Man Utd). This season it's a different story but it may be explained by Klopp's change of system and defenders paying him more respect and giving him less space after he smashed the goal record last season.

Also remember he's playing RW most of the time.

Why is he holding his sleeves all the time?

Fine margins, if Mane didn't hit the post, he'd have an assist and if Stones didn't scuff that clearance, he'd have a goal.
