Mo Salah

Man I don't like him either but it's a bit harsh on Klopp.
:)
If the headline "Talk Like An Egyptian" doesn't get used by one of the British red-top I'm gonna be very disappointed in the state of our nation's pun headline writing.

On a serious note, driving while looking at phone screen should be instant ban.
:)

What a ridiculous thing to say about a complete stranger. One has every right to be offended by Salah's complete inaction on that issue. While I doubt whether he was 100% complicit in his endorsement or association with this person, if it were me who had been caught associating with him, I certainly would have made my feelings clear afterwards.
Thanks. And that’s all I want. I understand that a person as famous as Salah does things like this all the time. I understand that he relies on his public relations people, to plan events like this. And I know there is a high likelihood, that he doesn’t agree with Kadyrow at all.
But even if he didn’t know who he was and what he was doing, when he posed for those pictures and became an honorary citizen, he knows now. And a lot of time has passed since then. In this time, these pictures have gone around the world and have been used to legitimize those actions. All while Salah stood still and did nothing. If you don’t do anything about something like this, people will (rightfully) assume, that you either don’t care (which is bad enough) or actually agree with those policies.

He is actively endorsing one of the men who carry the most guilt for those abhorrent crimes. He took time out of his day to make sure, that Kadyrow could use his image to gain followers, respect, and fame thorughout the world, thus gaining strength and power to further advance his terrible agenda.
It doesn’t matter if he knew him before. He knew him afterwards. He didn’t do anything to seriously distance himself from him. Nothing.
He even gladly became an honorary citizen of Czechnya.
Since that very moment, Salah became part of this. He deserves his share of the blame. As long as he doesn’t distance himself from those policies in a believable manner, he has blood on his hands. It’s that simple.

Got to be said here pal, your hatred for Salah over this is a bit bizarre. He got used like a pawn, and there has been NOTHING to suggest he agrees with what that coward is doing. If what we read in the media is to be believed he did have an issue with the Egyptian FA and there were rumors of him potentially retiring from the national team. He's even gave a nod towards it on his own twitter account, he does in no way shape or form have blood on his hands. I don't think it's on Salah to come out and publicly slate this man, and if you do then surely it's on EVERYONE do it not just the people who meet him?

Should players who play for Russia not represent their country to prove they are against what's going on in their country? Course not.

You seem to be taking aim at the wrong target here, I would imagine he isn't against the LGBTQ community as there is nothing he has said or done in the past has suggested this. You are slating someone who has never spoke out about the movement just because during the World Cup he was in the company of a god awful person. I think you are wrongly judging a person without having met them; there is a real battle to fight in this world and let be real, Mo Salah is not your enemy mate, take aim at the actual people who create evil in the world.

The only thing this has to do with the phone incident are both being blow out of proportion just because of who the person is. Christ the amount of footballers who have been closely associated with evil people and the amount who have been caught drink driving therefore risking lives (like Firmino), and this world comes to a stop over Mo Salah, I suppose that's what fame does.

FWIW the guy filming this is well known to the club as he's long been harassing players for signatures and has also moved on to paying groups of kids to harass players (not just Liverpool players) for signatures which he then sells on for profit. It's because of him for a few years now players are told not to interact with him or anyone outside the training ground looking for signatures.

I've heard about this guy too. Absolute weapon.

I also agree with you. I like Salah, and I don't really blame him for originally being in the photos, there's a good chance he didn't know much about Kadyrow or his policies, or maybe he felt intimidated (understandably) and felt he had to comply. Afterwards though, he had to denounce him.

On the Chechnya thing, I very much doubt Salah knew anything about Chechnya or their leader, other than that it is a Muslim part of Russia, so on the face of it there would be no objection to a PR stunt, which he was duped into by the Egyptian FA. I'm assuming afterwards he found out more because of the backlash over in the UK press and here in Egypt it was known that he kicked up a fuss with the FA and considered retiring.

Some of you are saying he should have denounced the action later. Its not that simple as if the FA or government had an agenda to push, it would not be wise to ruffle those powerful feathers in Egypt. It could make things very ugly for his family back here. You are assuming he can just speak out if he wants to, but this isnt a free country and there could be condequences to this.

I think fellow egyptian @el3mel might agree (or disagree)?

It’s because we are all associated to shitty people doesn’t make us shitty

The things I do or regret usually don’t lead to the ongoing systematic killing of people of a certain ethnicity, sexuality or religion. But if they did, I assure I would apologize.
Not sure that Salah presence lead to LGBT killings in Chechnya though. I agree that any sane and decent person wouldn't even appear in the same space as Kadyrov, but still.

That's a fair point, I know there is tension between Salah and the Egyptian government.

Yeah, that was bad phrasing. But he now shares a small part of the blame for anything that‘s going to happen.

He was textin his mate Coutinho trying to find out what the rents like in Barcelona

Lets not get all righteous on him. He probably got lost in some Ramos conspiracy theories on Rawk. We all do it

He just doesn't mate, just stop trying to force this weird agenda. What's going to happen will happen because of an evil man, in no way shape or form will it be because of Salah. To me you are coming across as an idiot for trying to continue to push this agenda.

In your opinion you feel he should of spoken out, that's fair, but he doesn't have to and not doing so doesn't make him a bad person. Anything after that is you trying to make it out to be much worse than it is from Salah, it's really odd. I'd imagine anyone who is genuinely trying to fight the LGBTQ community's corner would go after the people in the wrong, and not people stood in the middle of a nation playing politics.

So are we agreed that Salah basically caused the second world war?

Surely a 10 match ban and Liverpool being docked 21 points is the only language they'll understand?

He's like Hitler and Stalin somehow had a kid and it was raised by Pol Pot.

Perhaps a 30 point deduction is more appropriate now I think on it.

Liverpool fans simply cannot accept any wrong doing of any of their players (or even ex-players, except Sterling, who they all loathe while simultaneously still speaking favourably of Luis fecking Suarez...).

It's like a cult.

I find it hilarious how much people are talking about this. Talk about mountains out of molehills.

This point has been made by lots of members on here and it's completely irrelevant. Anyone who has looked into the driver's seat of a car on the roads these days will have seen hundreds of examples of people concentrating more on their bloody phones than on what's happening with the vehicle they are supposed to be in control of.

It's a massive issue at the moment, which is why Salah's actions - which seem so normal to many, as they've not thought twice about doing the same themselves - are causing such a debate.

Obviously, on a comparable list of crimes, and being so common, it seems like an over reaction, but hopefully it will spread the message that it needs to stop.

I agree and I really dislike phone zombies myself car or no car. The title is a bit misleading though .

Not going far enough imo, practically murdered them himself. Send him to the gallows, I say.

Definitely not just because he's very good and will probably score against us. Purely objective opinions here only.

His comments are over the top especially the bit you highlighted. Its a bit like saying the England footie team giving the Nazi salute in Berlin in 1938 have blood on their hands too. I think the Foreign Office came up with the idea .

Liverpool FC statement:

Salah was listening to music, hands free on his phone. Ramos rang and then began to intimidate Salah on the phone and provoked Salah to react by picking up his phone to turn it off. Ramos knew Salah was driving and his deliberate actions should be investigated.
