Mo Salah

Liverpool's change in setup isn't allowing him to thrive as well as he did last season I think. Still, he had some chances that I expected him to put away. I'd say he'll get about 20-25 goals in all competitions this season which is still good.

I think it's clear that he isn't going to have another out of this world season again, which is good.

First game back he ran at a player, half heartedly moved the ball about with his foot then ran straight into the defender. That set the tone for his season so far.

If he's not super sharp he's nothing.

I reckon he's just pissed with himself. Mind you I'm Egyptian, so I could be biased. :)

Edit:

Can't blame him for being annoyed. Must be quite upsetting to realise you're a one-season wonder.

For some strange reason he looks like he’s lost all confidence.

I reckon he was pissed at his own performance and the draw against the run of the play. Looked to me like a "fecking finally!" response.

Too early to tell whether he will hit the heights from last season. But the expectations now are much greater and it won't be easy to deal with them.

Surprised anything is being made of that celebration/ non celebration. Nothing of the likes we haven't seen before

Exactly. I thought it was a genuine incident before I watched the video in this thread. Really nothing to that, and even if there was, I'd put it down to frustration at his own bad performance and the fact we were drawing a game we should've put to bed long before that moment.

Apart from that, I also think he needs a short break, just one game to give him a breather - maybe he's putting too much expectations on himself because he's obviously trying too hard. A total goal return between 20-30 would still be great (and very achievable with our potentially long season) as long as we've improved overall.

I doubt he's going to regress badly or anything but returning to his pre-Liverpool form would hardly be shocking. Nothing in his history suggested those kinds of performances and figures were coming when they bought him.

I don't think he was throwing a strop over Firmino scoring, he was merely looking grim due to his own role in PSG's second goal, and just acknowledged Firmino's goal while having that grim face on.

But undeniable there are a few problems with him. One being his form isn't as great as last season at the moment. Two, he and Mane really did refuse to pass to each other in the last game, some ego clash certainly does exist there.

You could argue the set up last season didn't allow Mane to thrive either.

Salah won't have another 44-goal season. It doesn't mean he won't be a threat, but everything he touches won't go in.

Clearly off the pace so far, the thing is his movement and involvement is so much that he will still end up with 20+ goals all comps most likely which is good enough. As we saw yesterday the whole " Liverpool's attack wont be as good with Salah scoring less" makes no difference as they bossed PSG from start to finish.

I thought he was pretty good last night overall. Opinions are being too heavily swayed by his costly mistake
Yeah, he was decent. What was amusing is I saw posts about Mane being a better player all of a sudden.
Saying that he should up his form to prove he's not a one season wonder. Hopefully he won't do that. :D

It was the third time in a row he cheaply gave up possession with a misplaced pass, that's simply down to concentration or not trying to overdo things imo. He was okay-ish, but we rightfully expect more from him.

He will score at least 25. His movement is still great.
Yep, our set-up combined with the fact that he's always in and around the box and his great movement will make sure of that.

It did make me laugh at the time, something you'd see Ronaldo doing.

He's clearly annoyed that it wasn't him scoring the match winner, but is that such a bad thing? not really.

It's just nice to see he's human and not the angel he's painted to be 24/7 by the media.

It was clear as day last season was a once off. Just look at his stats before that? You slowly increase numbers at top level not fecking quadruple them.

Last season even when he half heartedly walked into the box the ball happened to land to him so many times. He's luck has ran out. Does that make him a bad player? Of course not, he's still brilliant but he's never scoring that amount of goals again.

Having said that with the way Liverpool play attacking football, he'll still get 20+ goals. Not as many important ones as last season, mind.

He's still suffering from the shoulder injury, others pointed out that he is wearing strap, plus with all the off-field antics his head is not in the right place. At least he is tracking back for the team, still putting in a shift. He will come back.

So what is the general consensus on more Salah, is he world class or a one season wonder flop? Have the courage of your convictions

They should have taken the 200m from Madrid in the summer.
Then they would have been the undisputed 'net spend' cup kings ever !

Ronaldo has had numerous hissy fits when someone else scores, no one bats an eye.

Salah does something that may have been out of frustration or relief, everyone loses their minds.

Not like Ronaldo hasn't been hounded about it for years either though.

Are you sure about that??? He's been crticised for years for it.

They definitely did. It was talked about plenty. Even when he was at United.

One in particular that I remember is that he didn't go running to pile on top of Macheda when he scored that goal like the rest of the team did. He was walking around in midfield. He scored 2 of the 3 goals, but the crowd were turning on him that afternoon.
