Mo Salah

Definitely 2 poor games from him.

Still created 2 big chances (1 for Mac against Utd, 1 for Darwin last night) and scored a penalty but yeah pretty much did nothing otherwise.
A Bruno-esque game for him, to translate it into Mancunian. People knocking Salah are insane. I don't like him, but there's no denying he's a killer.

He is arguably the most likable Liverpool player of my conscious lifetime. As much as I want to dislike him it's not possible because we're seeing a generational talent and he also just seems like a good human being.

Honestly hope he stays in England and joins Rooney as the second 200/100 player.

And continues getting his almost annual 3 goals against us?

Feck that. Off to Saudi with him.

Gakpo is also kind of hard to hate. Very shy and religious guy I believe.

Fecking boring.

You know, it'd be one thing if it looked like we were going to be battling with Liverpool every season for the title; then I might feel differently. But we're clubs at two drastically different levels and that is not going to be changing anytime soon.

Salah scoring three or four goals against us every season isn't going to mean much in the scheme of things; if it means we finish in 9th instead of 8th every season, what does it matter?

Might as well enjoy watching world class talent in the league.

Christ on a bike
Christ has been thrown over the handlebars and has landed on his face.

I don't find anything likable about Salah. I think Fernando Torres came as close as possible to being a likable Liverpool player, but maybe it was just those flowing blond locks and the piercing blue eyes of a Siberian husky.

Can tell you're American

Can't wait for him to leave but I also find him very hard to dislike from the little I know of him. Obviously hate to see him lining up against us but beyond tearing us a new one fairly regularly he seems a pretty decent bloke.

I'd feel less disgusted if you'd just announced that you feck pigs.

Clearly a Liverpool fan.

Believe me, there is not much to be proud of these days when it comes to being an American, but if there's one thing I can say about us, it's that we don't blow up sports rivalries to an unhealthy and outright insane level like you lot across the pond do.

You can go to a sporting event here as an opposing fan and sit wherever you want and you don't have to worry about getting physically attacked or kicked out.

The inability to do that at European football matches is absolutely mental, and taking a sporting event so seriously that you're actually willing to get violent over it speaks to some serious mental issues.

Being American is why you just don't understand football rivalries.

Sports teams in the US are always moving to different cities, there is no loyalty to the same team or having local connections, its difficult to then comprehend proper football rivalries.

There's no such thing, you fool!

Apply this logic to the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry, please.

Mostly same. He has a bit of that "steely glare when I score because I'm too cool to celebrate" shit that nearly all players now do but that might just be a responding to criticism thing, and he's far from the worst offender for that even in their team (Trent). Off the pitch he seems a likeable guy. Genuinely world class player too so unlike Trent or Robertson or Henderson that time he was getting baffling levels of praise the coverage of him doesn't bother me.

One rivalry.

Unfortunately you will never understand proper rivalries. Americans only understand about their own cultures.

Football rivalries are the same all over the world. All the way from South American teams in Argentina like Boca Juniors vs River Plate, to teams in/close to Asia in Turkey like Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce. It is not just in Europe.

Actually thought he was one of our better players last night, even outside of the assist/goal. Any time we got him the ball it looked like something might happen. Bradley was awful behind him.

His output is incredible. Sometimes he's non-existent but he's always been a goal threat this season.

The fierce rivalries is a huge part of what makes the premier league so appealing and successful.

BTW - I think between the 3 guys that may leave on a free, he is the most difficult to replace.

You reckon the 30 goal a season right winger might be harder to replace than a 33 year old centre back and a defence shy right back?

I mentioned Yankees/Red Sox because it's one of the most famous, but the truth is that there are dozens of famous rivalries across American sports that have existed for ages. You alluded to many American sports teams moving around but the reality is that this doesn't happen very often. It's actually very rare that a professional sports team relocates.

And beyond any of this, the prevailing point, and one that you don't seem interested in commenting on, is that no sports rivalry should be taken so seriously that it leads to violence. Your only defense seems to be to tell me 'you're an American so you don't understand a proper rivalry.' Okay; are you telling me that a proper sports rivalry should lead to violence?

I think he's the only player from the last 10 years that bothers a Premier League all time XI.

Maybe KDB too but meh

I’m sorry, but as a player he’s dislikable as feck. Mainly because he always scores against us.

Yeah agreed and definitely a good point about that 'yes I scored but look how intense and serious I am thing'.

Salah is actually good. He's everything they used to pretend Torres was, and there probably isn't a team out there that wouldn't have had him in their XI. Him being that good and playing for them is all the more reason to hate him.

Henderson was a workhorse and nothing more. He got the same treatment Gareth Barry got that time the media pretended he was England's missing piece.

I've never really got Trent either, to be honest. I think someone found some stats that basically had him roughly level with Andreas Pereira at Fulham for cross accuracy, but because he absolutely spams them in to a world class attack he's developed a reputation as some sort of Beckham-esque wizard. Can't defend to save his life either, which gets talked about every bow and then, but is swiftly brushed under the carpet.

Does Salah's new and improved hairline not do it for you

He's a shoe in. No doubt for me

Agree (unfortunately).

He's averaged 22 goals and 10 assists per season across 8 league seasons. That's a near-insurmountably strong starting point for any argument around him being the RW in an all-time PL eleven.

Unlike @Todd, I very much hope he leaves England. On the next plane, preferably.
