Mo Salah

Has he improved as a player ? Is he benefiting from playing against opponents who are a bit clueless ? A little bit of both ? Something else entirely ?

Not that much, he was probably more individualistic in those days though.
Much more, and more direct too. He was more akin to Mane back then. That clearly was down to being unknown, as he already had to readjust by the end of that season

His pace is ridiculous, probably tied with Sane for the quickest player in the league.

Impressive movement as well, when you couple movement with pace you become very hard to play against.

He was already very direct. He already had the movement. The biggest difference is he doesn't have to do that much by himself cause back then Fiorentina used to pass the ball to him on the counter and hope for the best, he'd get it, beat a couple of men and try to play a 1-2 with the striker. Doesn't have to do all that anymore.

He was mostly that though. His movement, link up, etc, weren't anywhere near this good. He was just a stupidly fast, direct player who'd pick up the ball and immediately run at the defence. It worked for about 3 months. Then managers figured out how to contain that and he had to adjust the way he played

And fiorentina didn't really play on the counter under Montella. He looked like he was always on a counter because everytime he got the ball the pace of the game went from 10 to 10000

He's also not just a pace merchant, his IQ on the pitch is pretty well developed. His finishing can be inconsistent here and there but his movement is just top notch.

We'll agree to disagree, his movement and link up were always class, heck he made Gomes look like a decent link up forward for some time.

Prior to Liverpool signing him the consensus I seemed to read was that Liverpool are getting a good player who was quick and scored goals. He's turning out be far far better than that, and that's in the end what good buying is all about. Same with Mane, there was a player who had a lot of ability and people rated but not sure whether he was going to be a top player. Annoying how this one seems to be turning out.

Mane, Coutinho and Salah all linked with Barca or Real now. Just need Firmino and Lallana to improve enough to join that list and Keita next season of course.

FSG will raise their £1bn profit in one summer and sell up. I would.

Don,t forget Solanke:)

Don't think he'll carry on his form in the same way throughout the season but I've always thought he was an excellent player even from his time back at Basel. He really suits Liverpool's system as well. I really like him and watching him can be very exciting.

As for Cuper's comments, that's par for the course unfortunately. You're talking about the best player for a football mad huge African nation. Egyptians can be prone to doing this unfortunately. Jenas' comments about the twitter abuse he received were both hilarious and so accurate. We got a lot of Egyptians signing up to spurs forums at the time of Mido & Ghaly. And my Egyptian side of my in-laws did not like Tottenham after the way we apparently treated them. :p

They will be very very invested in everything that Salah and Liverpool do now.

I am guess half of Cairo are wearing Liverpool shirts with Salah emblazoned on the back.:D

I'm heading there soon so I'll check but I'm guessing that would be a good shout! I'm guessing very few will be official club merchandise though. :)

Hes as good as Suarez was and hes only just started. Where the feck are our scouts when we need them.

Salah is incredible. Strength, skill and outstanding end product all shown in that goal.

Bayern will be all over him for a Robben replacement I feel.

Hate how good Liverpool are at getting and nurturing attacking players. Definite signing of the season so far.

They should be, but I doubt they can afford him. They never spend big, do they? And if Salah keeps this form he’ll cost £100m+ next summer

On course to 30 Pl goals now. Maybe the only one who can compete with Kane for the golden boot in the PL.

Massive credit to Klopp for signing him.

My gym buddy is an Italian Roma fan and says that Salah was always destined for great things so he should have been on our radar too.

So wish Mourinho had taken the chance with him vs the insipid Mhkitariyan.

I suspect Salah will be playing in La Liga within 18 months .

He's still quite wasteful but does it really matter when he gets to all these positions with such an ease? No doubt he's having a brilliant first season in a new club, very good player. If it wasn't for shambles in the defence and Kloppo being a bit too stubborn, Liverpool could be a force to be reckoned with.

The first part is a bit over the top, he's been class but not Suarez level yet. As for our scouts, we were supposedly looking for a winger in the summer so don't know how they missed him but oh well.
