In a well-ordered universe...
I dislike all All-Star games and activities in all US sports. They're just overhyped, boring spectacles now days.
1. I really dislike this format for the home run derby
2. The national anthem was quite possibly the worst one in history
I saw. It’s for the best… for all of us.She's come out and said she was hammered and is going to check into rehab
When baseball is good, it’s really fecking good.Absolutely incredible game between the Braves & Mets with the season on the line
TBH only Ty Cobb could really be considered as a rival for being the greatest ever hitterPete Rose has passed away.
I may be in the minority, but I think he belongs in the HoF. The Hall celebrates accomplishments on the field and Rose was one of the greatest hitters of all time.
Ted Williams belongs up there, along with Gwynn and Carew, but it’s a small group.TBH only Ty Cobb could really be considered as a rival for being the greatest ever hitter
Unfortunately, the Mets just packed it in for game 2, just jogging on ground balls. Kind of hope the Mets end up playing the Braves and the Braves knock them out in the playoffs.Absolutely incredible game between the Braves & Mets with the season on the line
He was but he also risked the integrity of the game by gambling on baseball. I think MLB did the right thing, especially with gambling now so easy, you need to make the punishments severe.Pete Rose has passed away.

I agree that the MLB had a double standard when it came to steroids. I also don't think the roided up players should be in the hall of fame.I guess, but now that he is gone he should be enshrined. The HoF should be a record of the sports greatest players and he is absolutely one of them.
I feel similarly about Bond's and the rest of the steroid crew. MLB actively encouraged, in my mind, the use of steroids by players. The Sosa/Mcgwire HR chase was critical to baseballs recovery from the labor strike of 95 and Nike built an entire marketing campaign around the jump in power ("Chicks dig the long ball"). It's similar to the widespread usage of greenies (amphetamine) in clubhouses for years. Are those players banned? No, and they should not be.
I get it, and I also fully admit that I am biased as a massive Giants and Bonds fan. With the steroids he was likely the greatest player to ever play, without them he is still a first ballot HoFer. Everyone points to his 2001 season (73HR, .328/.515), but that 2004 season was absolutely bonkers (45HR, .363/.609!!!!!, 232BB's, 120IBBs ). For reference, Kyle Schwaber led baseball in with 106 this year.I agree that the MLB had a double standard when it came to steroids. I saw Barry play for the Prince William Pirates in single A ball (Woodbridge, Virginia). He really was one of the best ever.I get it, and I also fully admit that I am biased as a massive Giants and Bonds fan. Ohtani is close from a power/speed level, but Bonds was also a gold glove defender till his early 30's. The one area he trumps all the current power hitters is strikeouts. The only year he had over 100 was his rookie year (102). For reference, of the 41 players who hit 25+ HR's this year only 5 had less then 100 K's, and only 2 had less than 90 (86 and 82). As you say, video game numbers.Bonds during that prime period was just bonkers, video game numbers, I don't think its repeatable ever (clean or not).
I don't blame the mets, the MLB playoff schedule is the ridiculous. There is no justification for after a 162 game season the playoffs starting a day laterUnfortunately, the Mets just packed it in for game 2, just jogging on ground balls. Kind of hope the Mets end up playing the Braves and the Braves knock them out in the playoffs.
The first and only time I ever saw Bonds play live was in that 2001 season, just after he hit HR 500, was vs the Brewrs at Pac Bell as it was know then, didn't get a hit in the game though I think they walked him a couple of timesI get it, and I also fully admit that I am biased as a massive Giants and Bonds fan. Nope, he's just that goodDo you think ohtani is on the roids?
Nope, he's just that good
Playoff Framber Valdez is back!Detroit with an early lead on the Astros.
Nah.Do you think ohtani is on the roids?
It would have been the same in reverse if the Braves had one game 1 I think. Always thought it was highly likely both teams would progress with a win each rather than one team win both.I don't blame the mets, the MLB playoff schedule is the ridiculous.
