MLB 2024

What's this about?
A yankees guy hit a ball top of the 9th that was just dropping short probably and a dodgers fan reached over the wall and caught it. They said fan interference. It was probably going to be a double anyway so it’s ok. But he packed up his things and got out of there fairly quick with his son. Won’t really be a Bartman incident thankfully since they won anyway and not like he stopped a catch, I was just being silly

Brutal loss that. This Dodgers lineup is absolutely ridiculous. Great game 1 overall though

Turned out just fine but he was smart to leave in case it didn't.
Agreed. The best one of these was the hilarious black guy in Houston a few years back. The Bartman incident was really horrible. My friend was in the nosebleeds that night

You just never intentionally walk the bases loaded with men on 1st and second. You do it only with men on 2nd and third. There was an option for a force play at every base save home. It also forces you to throw strikes which could end up being a dammed grand salami to finish a game.

Oh well it’s all in the past-rami

Amazingly the bullpen spit the bit. Overthinking this game loses the game. That’s what Boone does.

They didn't intentionally walk with 1st & 2nd on

That’s right. But I just still don’t like it. Just forces you to throw strikes.
True. I think they just preferred leftie leftie match up but it turned out to be the wrong call. It's just a brutal lineup overall and very difficult to manage. In my opinion after you get the first out in the innings you just can't walk Lux there, you have to tell your pitcher that if gavin Lux hits a HR we live with it but you have to avoid top of the order.

He also overuses the pen. Sometimes he has to trust his starters if they’re still pitching well. He’s always been like that and it costs runs.

Throwing in someone on 37 days rest loses ball games. Do better Boone.

I know who Steve Bartman is, just was wondering what happened today to create SB 2.0.
My bad. A Yankees player hit one deep to center field and a fan reached out over the fence and caught it. They called it fan interference and gave him a double but it was really close to a home run. More similar to when the Orioles were robbed by Jeffrey Mayer. It's always the stinking Yankees.

I didn't realize the runners advanced on a rule, I had thought they tagged up. Title is subjective as they still had a chance to end the inning and who knows if Betts gets a hit to tie/win the game.

Little-known MLB rule explains why incredible Alex Verdugo catch lost Yankees Game 1

Verdugo tried to get the ball back to the infield as quickly as possible, but that mad dash was rendered irrelevant by the law. Jeter's play occurred with two outs and ended the inning. Verdugo's came with multiple active runners on, who were awarded a free base after the dead ball was created. They moved up not on the illegal throw from out of bounds (a fair assumption), but on the catch itself.

According to the 2024 edition of the official MLB rule book: Rule 5.06(b)(3)(C) Comment: If a fielder, after having made a legal catch, should step or fall into any out-of-play area, the ball is dead and each runner shall advance one base, without liability to be put out, from his last legally touched base at the time the fielder entered such out-of-play area.

Yankees going to need an amazing comeback to avoid going down 3-0. 4 runs down with 3 inning remaining

They're cooked, Yankees need to watch the Red Sox documentary on Netflix for inspiration :D

I had the Dodgers in 7. Didn't see this coming obviously. As for Judge, MLB playoffs are far removed from the nature of the regular season. The NBA has it right in this regard, the postseason has the eventual champions scheduled to play at least 28 games, that's equivalent to 34% of the regular season. The MLB playoffs would have to be a like 55 games to replicate the NBA, it is only 19.

The Bronx Sleepers, offense always disappears when it matters most.

A bullpen game in a world series seems so ridiculous, pity that the Yankees couldn't take one of the first three games.
