A start to real managemt. Learn his trade. Move on after some success.

Starting in league 1 is no guarantee of anything. You say move on, move on to where? Is a bit of success in League 1 equal to a shot at the United job? Why would he start in league 1 if he's had offers from premier league clubs? I'm just asking questions, because I'm confused by your post.

Okay, so you think he deserves a Premier League job? He should start off lower down and learn his trade. Like Martínez, Lambert and Howe did. The progression should be gradual. Not rushed like in the cases of Ince and Di Matteo and Di Canio.

What jobs has he actually been offered? He's more likely interviews for jobs and missed out on them, like with the Swansea job.

The Premier League is madhouse and has a sacking culture. He needs to work with a club that share his vision, have some success there and climb the ladder with the club. Bournemouth and Burnley are loyal to Howe and Dyche because they put in the time.

I'm not saying he deserves a premier league job, I'm trying to understand what him potentially doing well at league one level, does for his chances at United. You do know that Di Canio and Ince started out at so called "smaller teams" right? Di Matteo is also a champions league winner, for the record.

If the premier league has a sacking culture, what do you think league one has? There's no regard for reputations there, it's even worse. What chance has he got to imprint a style or whatever, when he's immediately under pressure to get results? Even more so because of who he is.

I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall...

It's about learning his trade in a less glamorous environment, away from the spotlight.

You do realise I mentioned Ince and Di Canio as bad examples because they made the jump after two seasons, right?

Lots of League One clubs play good football and have climbed The EFL ladder quickly; Swansea, Southampton, Norwich, Bournemouth and Leicester.

It's about finding a project that's right for him.

We're sending an 2002 team to play Benfica on the weekend. This seems to be the squad:

UNITED ENTER UNDER-19 GERMAN TOURNAMENT

Manchester United are to compete in the International Sparkasse & VGH Cup in Germany for the first time in the New Year.

The Goettingen-based tournament is for Under-19 players and is the latest trip scheduled for the Academy youngsters.

Austria Vienna won last year's five-a-side event with Fulham the only English representatives. Germany internationals Manuel Neuer and Mesut Ozil have previously taken part in the prestigious competition.

A sizeable crowd is expected and the indoor game will present plenty of challenges for the young Reds between 5 and 8 January 2017.

Head of Academy Nicky Butt told ManUtd.com recently: "We have developed our tours and tournaments programme for the remainder of the season. We are passionate about our players experiencing all of the benefits that come with tournament football such as elite opposition, different styles of football, penalty shoot-outs and a competitive environment."

Isn't that a replacement for the Mercedes-Benz indoor tourno? Change of heart due to sponsorship perhaps?

Warren Joyce is apparently at Wigan´s training ground...

Old Trafford chiefs eye important signing: Man United move could be on the cards

ENGLAND under-20s coach Paul Williams is reportedly being eyed by Manchester United bigwigs.

The Sun claim the Red Devils have put Williams on their shortlist to take charge of the reserve side. Former reserve team coach Warren Joyce left the club last week. The 51-year-old penned a three-and-a-half year contract at Wigan.

The Latics are 22nd in the Championship after gaining promotion last term and Joyce has replaced Gary Caldwell who was axed last month. It's suggested Williams' youth-team contacts could help him seal a move to Old Trafford. Williams worked with Aidy Boothroyd before his switch to take the charge of Three Lions' under-21s.

Speaking in October, Williams explained his pride at leading England's young stars. "It’s been great working with Aidy and the U20s this season, so to take on the team for these games over the next few months is a big honour and privilege for me," he told the FA's official website. Williams has had stints coaching at Southampton, Brentford and Nottingham Forest.

The former defender also spent eight season playing in the Premier League for Coventry and Southampton.

Nicky Butt is in interim charge of the Manchester United reserve team.

I know it’s the Daily Mail article with a reference to a Sun article, but thought I’d still share it.
