Miralem Pjanic

Eastern European Anderson?
Not at all... He's injury prone in the way that he gets a lot of little knocks, they don't actually keep him out of games most of the time though. He's really classy on the ball, a great passer and very creative from the middle. Set piece wise he learned from juninho at Lyon so he's really good at them. He's a much more intelligent player then Anderson as well. My only worry with him would be that he's not entirely suited to us because of our over reliance on wingers and constant wing play. He's more suited to teams who play at a quicker pace, and with shorter passing around the team and through the middle.

It is true he's only really played in 3 man midfields during his club career, but who hasn't really? For Bosnia he plays in a 2 man midfield basically, and at Roma he plays as a central midfielder, but the strength of opposition at international level isn't exactly premier league standard. One thing that's impressed me recently is how much he's improved with the defensive side of his game, and his tackling. He used to be a bit useless defensively but now is actually quite good. Would obviously instantly improve us though, but I think we'd still need a more defensive midfielder next to him, like jones.

Actually on second thought, I hope we don't go in for him until the summer after the World Cup. Wouldn't want us to ruin him and hurt his confidence or injure him ahead of the World Cup where we need him at his best.

Sounds like the kind of player we could do with. I'm personally getting tired of our wing play and think we should move to a more European formation of playing 3 CM's.

It's quite funny really, because the spurs fans I've spoken to wanted AVB gone for trying to change them away from a 442 team, when we got Moyes in I was hoping that he was going to move us away from 442 and with the right players (I.e no Valencia and young) it looks like he's trying to move us away from the more conventional 442.

Get this deal done. Him and a left back and we all have confidence again.

Ran the game today. Just a great player. Rumours are that his new contract has a 30mil release clause, but I doubt we'll go for him. More suited to being the advanced man in a midfield trio and we've got that position set. Hope he stays at Roma another season personally, he'll have plenty of clubs after him after the world cup and the brilliant season he's had this year.

Thought he was excellent tonight. His composure and ability on the ball deep in his own half or under pressure was extremely impressive. Dominated the midfield in the first half aswell, despite Argentina's three centre back system failing.

Was fantastic for Bosnia tonight, wonderful player. Would take him over Strootman anyday of the week.

He never impressed me in two man midfield and I thought he can't play there as good as in more attacking position, but tonight he showed he can be very good defensively, pleased with his performance, especially in the first half.

I saw a side to his game tonight which made me believe he can play for any elite level club.

He's the prize from Roma's midfield, with Strootman probably suiting the PL more with his aggression and tackling

Pjanic is absolutely class in his game. He was lovely, and I was delighted with his defensive work and how he positioned himself well and read the game well. He's such a joy to watch. I believe he's Roma's best player. Strootman/Nainngolan provides the drive and energy in midfield, but Pjanic provides all of the creativity in Roma.

No, Strootman provided more than enough creativity for Roma. Actually not much behind Pjanic. They are creating chances in a different fashion, but still Strootman creates more than enough, esp for his position.

good passer but rather a playmaker / no. 10 than what we need to play behind Mata or Rooney.

Signed new deal at end of season and declared his love to Roma. Not happening.

We was an absolute delight last night. Looked like a more energetic Pirlo. So comfortable on the ball and never looks likes losing it. Completely dictated the pace of the game.

Seriously impressed

He is one of those rare CM's that can play in a deep or advanced role equally well.
Really composed on the ball and has an eye for the short as well as through pass...he is exactly the sort of CM we should be looking at.
If we got both him and Strootman from Roma, we'd be set.

They'd be f*cked

What a super little player he looks. Only 24 years old too. Lovely touches and will develop further. Roma have a gem here.

I think LVG has Strootman signing locked down, its just a matter of time for him to get back fit.
The question is who is he going to buy as the CM/Playmaker now that Kroos, Gundogan and Cesc etc are out of the picture.
