Gaming Minecraft | New caf 1.18 SMP server SIGN UP?

The things that were griefed:

- New spawn seating area
- 70% of the wheat farms and surrounding paths of town destroyed
- additional paths damaged
- furnace house griefed
- 9 ovens taken
- about 6 stacks of blaze rods taken
- lava cube fecked
- walrus castle a bit damaged
- walrus robot defaced
- zarlaks house fecked
- sand bridge fecked
- newbie chest contents taken

and the worst of all.... books stolen from the library!!!!!

I worked hard for those books. They're all I had.

I still can't login, WTF are Mojang doing - do they not realise a whole village depends on me? ;)

I'm guessing you have an idea by now of who done it vol, maybe this will help, maybe it wont, but in the latest map render the damage had been done

Maybe that could help narrow it down seeing as you know what time the map changes, if you still need it.

They created a huge sphere in the sky which blocks out the sun. ;)

I can't find the bloody town, just signed in and have wandered aimlessly for ages.

Oh I died of hunger and spawned in the town, time to have a look around.

Haha, what a sad cnut. It was obviously that BHL bad aim fellow, fecking weirdo.

In other news, my villagers have disappeared. :(

Honestly don't think I can be bothered getting new ones. Bollocks.

What's the IP to get on? Going to try (probably unsuccessfully) to get on at work.

meanwhile, I'm sorry but it seems that either BHLBadAim or ad_warrior was responsible for the griefing, intentional or not, since they share the same address they're now both banned.

Sorry.

Says it can't connect, must be my work firewall or something. Will try at home.

So I mapped out my mine. It's 16 tunnels in width, each tunnel going from the far right to the far left and they all connect at the start and finish from top to bottom.

I have a lot of cobble. Just come back up with another 1200 blocks.

I built myself a nice little house by the water.

I have completed a rather large tower next to my first build

Update 1.3 is released on 1st August apparently.

Should we brainstorm a plan of action?

I may log in and have a look around too. Maybe even build myself a little hovel somewhere and stake my claim on a patch of land for my home.

Is there anything I need to know before I jump on? I'm not a complete noob but I wouldn't want to just bust in and start building, only to find I've just started developing on VIM's driveway, whilst back-filling Vol's garden with my excavation material as well as flooding Zarlak's tunnels...

Oh, if anyone is on and I don't reply in chat, it's because I'm using the on-screen keyboard. I'm not sure if it'll work in game. I really need to stop being lazy and get a new keyboard...

Edit - Oh and just any MP hints and tips in general would be appreciated.

Honestly with the precaution you have taken before you have even played with us, I'm sure you'll be fine :D

There are pretty much no written rules, just to respect other people's stuff and that's it!

If you're unsure on some land you can check the dynmap for an overhead view http://redcafe.tanganaika.net:8123/ or simply ask someone if you're unsure.

Can't think of many hints as of yet, but the thing that will serve you best is http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki has absolutely everything you need to know and more.

There are community farms for food and storage for blocks for everyone to contribute to and use, so feel free to use them to get you started. Have a look round and see if there's an area you like!

Cheers VIM.

Just been reading back through the thread a little. Do we still need to hide valuable stuff or is there a way to secure chests? Also, I suppose I'm going to have to venture away from the main village to find early game essentials such as coal & iron etc. ?

Oh, and what do you mean when you say "plan of action" in regard to the update? Will the update mean a complete reset of the world?

We have a plug-in called 'Lockette' which allows you to simply place a sign on your chest and it automatically locks to you, nobody else can open or remove it. This applies to furnaces too.

I think you'll be fine for coal and iron to be honest, but for diamond mining you might need to travel a short distance away from town, not too far mind.

That is the question, ultimately it's down to vol but I think the general consensus was that we are to keep our builds/town seeing as it's relatively new. When I speak of a plan of action I mean some of the things that were suggested such as:

- building a new town far away using shortcuts through the nether
- deleting a lot of chunks around town so they re-generate in 1.3 style
- new map transferring old stuff onto the new map with World Edit
- carry on as usual

Although thinking about it, maybe we might not have a choice but to start a new map? I'm not sure how the update works but we had to do it for 1.2 right?

Ah, so specific chunks can be left and others updated, so to speak? That's pretty cool.

Are the uncovered areas on the Dyna-map simply just travelled areas or are they the areas that have actually been 'mapped' with the use of a handheld map?

I think the only element of the new update that would require a reset is the huge biomes isn't it?

Not really fussed about that.

In terms of new dungeons and temples, I'm prepared to travel to find those. Even so, I reckon all those chunks to the East of town can be deleted, nobody has built anything there.

But it's all down to vol at the end of the day.

I was actually thinking of heading over to set up my first decent sized project on the green area North of the river across the lake to the E/NE of town. :D Seems a nice spot to start, from looking at the map at least. I prefer green terrain to desert. But it's not an issue if you guys want to recycle it.

Oh sure go ahead, I was just thinking out loud really.

I'll check it out once I join the server and see what it's like.

I was only thinking ahead myself tbh. It'll probably take me until the update to get my first home sorted out and get myself established anyway. :)

I like the current server/town but am always happy to wipe and restart with a new patch - its all a bit of fun, I'm always excited by what a new seed can bring us.
