Gaming Minecraft | New caf 1.18 SMP server SIGN UP?

Basically Z, it's this:

You spawn in a world with nothing. Obviously you have to get started off, so you knock down some trees for wood and build a base. Then you need some light, but for light you need coal, and to get coal you need to dig for it using a pickaxe. So you make a pickaxe, and some other stuff like axes.

And then once you get a little protective base sorted (you need one because at night monsters come and can kill you, making you drop all the items your currently carrying), you can do whatever you like. Mine down deep into the Earth for better ores (Iron, Gold, Diamond, Redstone, the blue stuff which I've forgotten the name of), which you can use to make better armour, tools and even other items. You can build whatever kind of building you want - make a massive mansion, an underground hideout, a jungle treehouse, whatever takes your fancy.

Then you have the hunger element too - over time you get hungry, so you need to get food. You can farm the food to make bread, or you can have animals which you can kill for food.

It's pretty addictive once you get into it :)
 
In multiplayer, yeah. Everyone has their own character and you can upload skins for them to wear (I've currently got an Emile Heskey one). There's also a chat system on multiplayer, and on the internet there's loads of different servers hosted, with hundreds of players on.
 
Well that's annoying, I just started digging straight down into the floor not knowing how I'd get back out, dug right the way down, left my crafting table at the top because I didn't know how to pick it up, excavated a massive space, then my pickaxe breaks, I have nothing to dig with other than a stick which takes forever, and I'm about 100 feet down, I now have to do some kind of weird ass half hour dig back up to get up top so I can gather wood to bring back down to make a crafting table. I was going to make an awesome underground space that noone could follow me into.
 
Okay Zarlak, I've added you to the white list, so you should be able to login now. However, I suggest you check some of the 'lets play minecraft' videos on youtube, just to have an idea what are some of the basic strategies to survive.

Also, reading through the minecraft wiki is a good idea, it has all the buildable/craftable blocks and items there.
 
Yeah, I got a crafting guide straight up, I'm digging my way up to the top making a spiral staircase as I go.

In the RedCafe world now, is there a map or a way of finding where everyone lives so I can make a house? I spawned next to a huge kind of cage house, that I found an underground entrance for, the door won't open but I'm hiding down here at the entrance while it's night time.
 
Night time, I retreated to my abode as I'm trying to build a staircase down to it, I can hear a spider slurping. I carefully sculpt out my walls, then a zombie comes to say hello. As I go to shake his hand, he detonates himself and blows all my walls up. Nice neighbours.
 
The ones that blow up are creepers. Watch out for them. It's one of the jumpiest moment ever when you turn around and you're sudenly staring at one for that split second and then it blows up :(
 
Oh I shat myself before, I just ran round a corner and a spider fell on my head. My mouse spazzed. VIM laughed his head off.

So it turns out archer skeletons can open the doors to my house and kill me. Well that's handy for them.
 
I've started a single player game where I am not allowed to build beds. I have to say it was a lot more interesting before beds.
 
I have to say rcoobc, I'm definitely with you now with plug-ins. I think if we used a couple of plug-ins, and made a town, the Redcafe server would be thriving again.

What is your opinion vol?
 
Should start a new server, where everyone starts together and we survive together. Build a little town and branch out from there. Gets a bit boring when you're just building shit on your own. Keep this one as well though, that temple is awesome.
 
I wouldn't mind that either, although I would need to think of a good idea for a project.

Wow cheers mate, my bloody telephone line and subsequent internet went down yesterday through a fault with the telephone exchange. I re-built the front wall on creative mode and designed the door and whatnot. It just made me more angry that I couldn't go online and do it!
 
I've been playing the single player on and off quite a bit, I'll have to give the server a try soon. I'm guessing it's survival mode etc yeah?
 
Hmm, plugins, I'll have to play with the different ways of using them and probably give bukkit a try, but am a little busy right now. We'll see how it goes :)
 
Using my patented octagon design I've started building this on a single player world.



Gotta love octagons. But I can't do the doors, and I'm never going to finish it. How does anyone ever actually finish a project?
 
Come on the server I'm playing on Robo, Zarlak is on there too we are building a town! Loads of people on this 18+ server, would be cool to have a Redcafe Town with all you guys!

I just went mining and came back with 50 diamonds, yes.. 50!!! I have an enchanted diamond pick with Unbreaking III & Fortune II, works a treat.

You have to join their forum and apply to be whitelisted, but that stops a lot of kids and griefers joining so it's well worth it IMO, nice crowd on there.

I doubt I can post the link here but if anyone from here wants to join that server, (I encourage you all, Redcafe town FTW), then ask me to PM you a link.
