Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

If your having to go into a game with the Champions with the likes of Cedric & Kolasinac in your team after spending that money, while letting the likes of Saliba go on loan, I don't care about injuries or Covid, someone needs to lose their job. Ive seen some terrible performances but the defending has to be up there with the worst I've seen. Players playing that are about to get paid off to go to Fenerbache FFS!

Is arteta really a club legend of theirs?!?! He’s not even an Everton club legend and he played more for them!

but all being said he is doing a fantastic job.

Time to take a punt on a certain chile former star ? I guess it wouldnt hurt them to try given how bad things are going.

Well spoken, nice hair, club legend(that one is questionable), i guess.

Truly something how he has lowered the standards so much, with barely any scrutiny.

He's more of an Arsenal stalwart than legend. Working with Guardiola for 3 and a half years was probably taken into account by Arsenal, which of course is no guarantee of success.

The squad isn't even that bad. The players are all infinitely better at their job than their manager. Even the mediocre ones.
True, they should be performing way better. Hard to see where Arteta goes from here to be honest, who takes him on? He does appear to be very amateur in his decision making.

I was advocating for more time for him but has to be the end of the road now.

Potter would be a good transition stylistically.. hope he gets a chance with Arsenal.
Potter would make sense.

Arsenal wouldn't pay up for Conte.

Their transfer business is ridiculous, why sign youngsters who are going to learn off deadwood?

Arteta needs to stay at Arsenal for 2 more years til Pep leaves City, then he can go there and work his magic, we must remember he is a elite manager

The squad is very far from being good. The defence is absolutely abysmal, not a good defender among them. A couple of disinterested forwards that were good once upon a time, and then a bunch of unproven talent that is probably 3 years away from blossoming.

It's 6th-8th placed material in my opinion. The worst thing is I don't think Arteta has improved it that much with this summer's signings. Or at least it might not come to fruition for him, anyway.

We were in this state when Solskjaer came and he knew it so he turned us into a counter attacking team with men behind the ball most of the time. We're moving away from that now but even our 'PE teacher' could see we were fecking bereft at the back and put a stop to it.

Am I the only one feeling sorry for him?
After Torres scored he looked like he wanted to cry.

Someone somewhere in the Midlands has just put down his pint of wine and is waiting by the phone.

Will City offer the job to Arteta when Pep leaves? That would be something.

He started Kolasinac today. It’s his own fault and the way people don’t even raise an eyebrow at his defensive tactics anymore is telling.

It's not a good squad. There are better players in West Ham, Leicester, Tottenham...

I'm convinced some have never got over (stupid) comparisons of Arteta to Ole and as a result are eager to overstate his relative inexperience. He won't be given a whole season to turn things around but there's no nice way to lose to City. If they can't get wins against Norwich and Burnley and Brighton and Palace... He'll be gone anyways

Arsenal's next 4 Premier League which also take them up to the October international break: Norwich (h), Burnley (a), Spurs (h) and Brighton (a).

Their squad is brutal. Look at that back four ffs! No other top ten EPL team would take that defence.
He might be a poor manager but absolutely no one will perform miracles with that back line.

No excuse for anything less than 10 points.

Id understand defensive tactics, but he's doing it with defenders who can't even defend, & don't even want to be there.

Cedric, not good enough for Southampton, Chambers, got moved to midfield for Fulham, Holding, was close to going on loan to Newcastle last summer, Kolasinac, about to get paid off to go to Fenerbache FFS, Xhaka, who wanted to leave & yet they reward him with a new contract. Yet Saliba who actually is rated is sent on loan.

Never thought I'd say this but I hope its 6 or 7 to force someone, anyone into some drastic action. Even if it's to sign a feckin right back & midfielder. I'm feckin raging at these pathetic goals conceded.

At this point it's worth seeing! I'm really up for seeing what Big Sam can do here.

You could feel sorry for him12 months ago, but he's been making mistake after mistake. Time to go, the only question is who can we get to replace him.

I like the guy but he's clearly out of his depth. A combination of a big club with a midtable team, top 4 expectations as a club and a newbie manager with no experience. Recipe for disaster. They are also absolutely battered by injuries and covid which doesn't help. Perhaps the weirdest thing of all is they are the PL's biggest spenders this transfer window if I'm not mistaken, at least till the Ronaldo signing is confirmed.

He should have kept saliba and if you are spending £130m you should try to improve your first 11 and not just the squad. 30m for ramsdale is a waste of money.

Their squad is crap but so is their manager. No clue why Arsenal fans are so defensive about it and not willing to admit he's part of the problem

Even with the Ronaldo signing they are the biggest spenders.

Thats mad to think of you guys got Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo, they've spent more and aside from Ben White I can't name a signing.

They'll probably give him the games after the international break where, on paper, they should be favourites. I don't think anyone thought they would get anything out of the Chelsea and City game. The Brentford game was obviously the one. They had to get something there.

Personally, they just look broke and i don't think Arteta is going to do anything there, so i would get rid of him now.

He must know it's just a matter of time. Must be awful to sit there and be around this bunch of twats who don't care and get paid regardless

He is the twat, not the players necessarily.

It is unfortunate lego Pep will be sacked before we play them this season.
