Yeah, it pretty much sums it all. At certain phases, they will come to your half with high pressing. They make the use of channels on both sides, either saka or anyone on left. They hope the opponents made mistakes. They score through saka and their left back. The rest phase of the games are just neutralizing the opponents in midfield. They score odd goals and they also concede odd goals. They look less leaky than Emery's team but god they are dull.
Hm. Guess success is a word up for interpretation. I just know when we won EL in 2017 - but finished 5th in the league - I preferred that end to the season over finishing 2nd trophyless - so I won't act like a hypocrite now, since I felt like that back then. We're miles ahead of Arsenal, winning the Europa wouldn't hide that fact from anyone with sense.
Our (hopeful) 2nd place this season is a lot less bleak than the one under Jose though, obviously?
Oh I can fully see the match being an absolute shitfest, with them getting an 83rd minute goal as a corner deflects in off Xhaka’s arseThey are just so underwhelming, but the xG modelling as them as similar to Leicester over the PL season and even better in Europe.
Sort of team that will be just horrible to face in a one-off final.
That's a bizarre take given we're still in it. You do realise their owners don't give a shit about being successful and their squad is mediocre (it's a Europa League standard squad)? The fact they've appointed a manager who had nothing like the requisite experience and is seemingly not up to the job doesn't mean if they replace him they're suddenly going to be a problem.I actually want Arsenal to win the Europa so his job is secure. The thought of him getting sacked is actually worrying.
This sums it up pretty succinctlyAverage manager with an even more average team to be honest. A better manager could probably get better out of them, but it isn't a great bunch.

I think you've forgot we are still in the Europa.
What nonsense is thisI actually want Arsenal to win the Europa so his job is secure. The thought of him getting sacked is actually worrying.

No no - we have to look at the bigger picture - getting Arteta to stay as Arsenal-manager is more important than us winning
I've said it before. It may sound ridiculous but If Ole looked like Arteta and didn't have that nice guy demenor there'd be more people backing himImagine how much crap OGS gets for picking up 66 points in 32 matches after losing once in 4 months - and imagine how much crap he would take here if United had 46 points in 33 matches - and were 9th in the table.
Aside from PSG and Barcelona, they have got the most expensive front 3 in Europe. Like us, they have spent money, especially over the last 3 years, but the signings have been poor.Average manager with an even more average team to be honest. A better manager could probably get better out of them, but it isn't a great bunch.
Ole's a likable guy, Arteta's got that Pep autism look about him which makes people think he's a genius. It's too weirdI've said it before. It may sound ridiculous but If Ole looked like Arteta and didn't have that nice guy demenor there'd be more people backing him
Agreed. Elite levelOle's a likable guy, Arteta's got that Pep autism look about him which makes people think he's a genius. It's too weird
He is a lucky lucky manager who hides behind refs, owners, deluded fans, players. But again just watch how press rave about him when he wins the europa.
To be fair, managing that arsenal team would probably have even the most laid back placid bloke twitching a bitOle's a likable guy, Arteta's got that Pep autism look about him which makes people think he's a genius. It's too weird
I sometimes get the feeling Arteta avoids a lot of stick because he was that smart, creative midfielder - that people somehow thinks he is destined to be a great manager because of it. It was a bit of the same with Bryan Robson - it was like it was determined that he would be a great manager.
But in fairness - that Arsenal-team isn't great to be honest
I would agree with you if you were comparing us finishing 2nd vs lets say Arsenal 5-6th challenging for CL place, improving and winning the EL. But they are 9th right and most likely will finish 10th, and are actually getting worst than the last season. In this current situation, I would so on, their season wouldn't look more appealing than ours even if they won they win the EL. But ofcourse, if you remove all this context and look at it on paper, then yeah.Hm. Guess success is a word up for interpretation. I just know when we won EL in 2017 - but finished 5th in the league - I preferred that end to the season over finishing 2nd trophyless - so I won't act like a hypocrite now, since I felt like that back then.
I can see it's not sustainable to be crap in the league and then compensate by winning EL on an every year basis - and as mentioned, it doesn't fool anybody's perception if the winner has been as bad in the league as Arsenal this year - but for the players to get a trophy, a nice confidence boost, and a better seeding for CL - to me - sounds more appealing than finishing second with nothing.
Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade United's season with Arsenal's - should Arsenal win - because Arsenal has been very poor and we haven't. But the outcome on paper - winning EL vs. winning nothing in the top 4 - is more appealing to me - especially since it's been almost four years since last trophy. Hope it makes just a tiny bit of sense.
Im convinced that his greatest achievement(after winning the FA cup, of course) is the lowering of the expectations at the club, Wenger got slaughtered for much less, so did Emery.
He has managed to convince a good portion of the fans that he is actually a great manager, who is just "misunderstood", got to give him creds for that, a real masterpiece.

They won’t win it.Would be a monumental failure to allow these cnuts win the EL. I don't even want to imagine it.
