I'd sell Jones and get this lad

There will be loads of games next season and with Bailly due to go to ANC we can't rely on injury prone defenders

The ACN is in 2019..

There is an African Nations Championship or something like that and only domestic players are eligible to play...

Hopefully Smalling, not a footballing defender and seems to have given up on trying to be the marking/aggressive defender he was actually good at under LVG.

Is Keane an upgrade on what we have? Bailly will be ACN bound for a few months round jan/feb so there could be something in this and Jose was not happy with both Jones and Smalling last season. Almost accused them of faking injury or at least being not committed enough.

Not next season he won't be.

Ok, thanks.

but if there is players being shipped out as expected. We'll still need cover, when he does go. Could be a buy and loan back or new target altogether. Think he is an upgrade on some of what we have currently.

I expect more action for this position sooner or later.

Would have loved to seen him play for us.. probably wont happen now..

Havent done that with Perisic though, Morata and Lindelöf yes

Perhaps Perisic is the decoy/leverage and we're negotiating with someone else in quiet for a key target.

Shame, would have liked him back, reckon he should stay where he is now & see if he can improve some more, then maybe we'll come knocking next year.

Too much reporting here, seems we are genuinely in for him. With Belotti and Keane a bid was barely reported, mostly interest. With Perisic we already had a bid or two.

I see this is still being reported, which I can't understand now the Lindelof deal is confirmed. If Keane was to come now, wouldn't he be coming with the understanding that he is back-up to Bailly and Lindelof? That would be good for the squad, but obviously not so good for the player.

Perhaps were changing tactics to a 3-4-3, 3-4-2-1, 3-4-1-2 something like that.

Depends if Jose wants rid of both Smalling AND Jones and if he does then we'd still need a centre back unless he's going to promote Tuanzebe alongside Bailly, Lindelof and Rojo when he's back from injury.

If Tuanzebe isn't promoted up to the first team and both Smalling and Jones are sold then with Rojo being out til Christmas we're left with only Bailly, Lindelof and Blind so a move for Keane as well isn't so far fetched when you think about it.

Cant see this happening now this year. I can see him going to Everton or similar and then us being linked with him every season for ever increasing amounts.

He's just got in the England squad, he'll only ever be a backup for us.

I just can't see this one happening, Keane offers no improvement on Smalling or Jones. If we sign Keane, we'll have to sell one of them. Makes no sense financially or in footballing terms.

Wish this talk would go away, with Lindelof practically done the defence is ok. Lets sort the midfield now...

I think Keane will only come if one of Jones or Smalling leave. However, I'd rather give Tuanzabe the chance than bring in Keane.

Not a necessary signing for me. I would sell Jones and keep Smalling for his aerial abilities, which can be useful when dealing with teams specialising in setpieces.

If we ship out the chuckle brothers then i would be happy for us to have Keane as backup.

It can still happen as we dont know in what form Rojo will return, Also if we gad good offers for Smalling or Jones, and depending on the evaluation of Keane, we can still bring him in.

I dont think he is guaranteed to be a backup and think he will have a fair chance to compete with a starting spot like everyone else.

Tuanzebe should be sent out on loan to get good minutes, maybe even to burnley

31 million with one year left on his contract?
That's just absolutely insane. Burnley have done a great job on this one.

His agent said on Talksport that he expected him to be the best England centre half in a few years (and in Europe) and that no 1 priority was signing for a club where he will play all the time.

That's fair enough and a sensible choice by Keane. I'd have taken him as a replacement for either Smalling or Jones, but he wouldn't have been first choice so can't blame him for going to Everton.

£31m ffs. We sold him for £2m just two years ago. Good thing we have a 25% sell-on clause though.

Best English CB, I can see. But not best in Europe.

Cant believe there are people moaning that we 'only' got 2m for him. If that pisses yiuboff you have no idea how a) football and b) economics work.

He was up for sale in an open market. He was a reserve player that had no chance of making our first team. If he was worth more than that at the time someone would have paid it.

We quite rightly put a sell on clause knowing full well there was a chamce he would increase in value. An increase in value only attainable by playing regular football, which was not possible at a club like united. It was burnley that made him worth 31m, not us so we can have no qualms about making what will be 8m on someone never good enough for us at the time and still isnt. (May be in the future)

Did anyone hear the shite they were spouting on talk sport earlier?

Basically they were saying that Mourinho isn't interested in youth and that (in this twats opinion) United have sadly gone for the quality and age of Lindeloff over the youth of Keane.

Keane is 2 fecking years older than lindeloff!

You couldn't make it up.

Terrible radio station but I am strangely addicted to it. I don't think Keane is good enough for United either, by the way.

:lol::wenger:

Hilarious, the bias from some of the English pundits knows no bounds.

They definitely didn't just mean "youth" as in a youth protegy of United did they?

Their point would still be ridiculously stupid but it might make them a bit less stupid..
