Gaming Metal Gear Solid

I've started playing this over the last week or so.

I bought it when it come out but never got round to it.

I'm just about to start Act 4 and I have so say, so far, I think it's the best game I've ever played.

I had a skim through this thread and I love the cut scenes and don't find them tedious at all.

I found that too, some of them you just don't want to end. The one at the end of Act 3 with Liquid is probably my favourite - fecking immense.

That was good but the best one for me (so far) is at the end of Act 2 when Raiden fights the Gekko's and Vamp. Raiden's movement is simply stunning.

I actually am looking forward to 9pm so I can play it. A game hasn't got me this excited for years.

I've got Resident Evil 5 for after as well.

One of my favourite games ever. One of those games you just don't want to stop playing, and unfortunately is why it ends too soon.

Agree. Best game ever IMO.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced it will release four classic Metal Gear Solid titles via Sony’s PlayStation(R)Network service.

The news comes as Konami gears up for the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable), and will begin with the reissue of the original PSone version of Metal Gear Solid on November 19th, priced £7.99. Hailed as an all-time classic and one of the most influential video games of modern times, Metal Gear Solid marked the series’ first move into a fully 3D play area, and established Hideo Kojima as an iconic talent.

The release of Metal Gear Solid will then be followed with Kojima Productions’ PSP(R) entrants to the series: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops +, and the innovative Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel. Release dates for these titles will be confirmed at a later date.

Bit expensive for what it is. Is it worth it at that price Elvis?

Finally!

Of course it's worth it Weaste, it's an all time classic. Will keep you going on for hours. It's worth it for some of the cut-scenes alone.

I should be back online on my PS3 aswell on Friday.

I remember playing MGS1 back in the day and it was awesome, don't know how well it holds up but I didn't regret my purchase of FF7 from the store and loved having it on my PSP so will get this too.

Metal Gear is up on the european store now. (If you cant see it do a user search for "metal" )

No UMD drive Elvis, is that sensible?

I would have kept it in and tried to move consumers to downloading their games. Not having one means a lot of people will stick with their old PSP's where they have no doubt built up a nice collection of games, games they won't be able to play if they uprgrade. How much does it cost Sony to stick a UMD drive in there? I'd imagine it's not that much. I read an article the other day and sales of the Go aren't that great at all, I think the issue with what people would do with their old games has played a part. It all seemed a bit daft to me, leaving it out completely. I'd rather have it, pay a few extra quid, and have a slightly heavier PSP than not have it at all.

It's a nice little thing and all, but it sort of restricts its use. I can't see MGS:PW being a download, can you?

It does restrict it yes. How big do you think the download will be for MGS:PW?

I've no idea, but knowing this is Kojima, who says that this is the true sequel (not Rising), and reports last week saying that the team developing this is the MGS4 one, and around the same size (although they are not going to be spending as long developing it), this game could be rather large.

Well! feck that for a laugh if I'm downloading a game that big. What's the largest storing capacity on the Go at the minute, 32GB?

I want to be able to pick up and play a game as and when I feel like it, not having to remove, download and re-install games.

As I said, I think it's silly. If download speeds were better, storage capacity was bigger and cheaper then yes, it would have been good and it could have worked. But if anything games will be compressed more to make the game as small as possible, no?

32GB really is not a lot for game storage, save games, DLC, patches etc. Plus they talk about the PSP being a multimedia handheld, so when you factor in videos, music and photos aswell, it really does not leave you a lot of space.

I think that it has 16GB of internal flash RAM, but you can swap out the memory stick micro cards, each with 32GB, so a fully loaded PSP Go at any one time has 48GB max - extra cards you would have to carry around.
