Gaming Metal Gear Solid

If it does go over to the 360 though, then it's more than probable MG5 won't be exclusive to Sony and the PS3/4.

Well, it has sold about 5 million copies on PS3 alone. Konami are in the business of making money. Depends on how much Sony want it and are willing to give Konami some cash, but that would go totally against their current behaviour/philosophy on this type of matter, as they would rather dump their cash into 1st party development.

as they would rather dump their cash into 1st party development.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If going multi-platform means games like MG5 and FFXIII can be improved and made better, then so be it. Then the likes of Microsoft and Sony can use the resources they would have otherwise used on securing exclusives improving 1st party development, and thus a (potentially) better quality game, ala KillZone 2.

You think this site is bad the way people argue about football? NeoGAF has produced a 2000+ post thread on the meaning of that small image posted on Kojima Productions website in less than 12 hours.

Won't be long until those rings are red though;)

All well and good, but Microsoft have hardly any 1st party studios now, they have been putting large amounts of resources into getting old Playstation exclusives to become multiplatform and in some cases even timed exclusive to XB360 or getting exclusive downloadable content for XB360.

That appears to be their strategy from the outside, along with reducing the price of the damned thing every 6 months.

Still, Sony have by far the better 1st Party games, and still lots of exclusives to look forward to (FF Versus XIII springs to mind).

How long do you think it will be before the Arcade Model is at £99.99? Could see it happening within the year, or shortly before/after Sony reduce the price of the PS3 (In March I suspect).

You can breathe a sigh of relief Elvis, it's as I thought, a game for the iPhone/Pod.

KONAMI will make downloads of METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH, DanceDanceRevolution S Lite, SILENT HILL The Escape and Frogger for the iPhone and iPod touch progressively available from late this month.

METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH is an original game that brings to life the world and characters of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS (MGS4).

With direct control through the touch panel, it's simple for anyone to move their alignment or switch to zoom mode.

Each stage's location and characters are based on the story of MGS4. The initial download will contain 8 stages, with additional stages to be added later.

There are many ways to enjoy the game as points earned by clearing stages unlocks images and wallpapers from the METAL GEAR series.

DanceDanceRevolution S Lite, SILENT HILL The Escape and Frogger will be released prior to METAL GEAR SOLID TOUCH late this month.

anyone gotten the big boss extreme symbol on this?
I'm in the process of doing it now...

Ask Elvis, he's on his 1500th run by now. Forgot to tell him that there are other good titles on the PS3.

Am I the only one who thought this wasnt as good as everybody else said? :nervous:

I was halfway through Act 4 (Nostlagia!) on Big Boss Hard before my PS3 decided to commit suicide, so I've just started again on Big Boss Hard tonight. Just got past the bit where you fight the PMC's and/or/ Militia.

Great game.

I loved this game tbh, just cant be fecked to go for another run.

Will finally give MGS1 a shot soon though.

CROmanc, delete that spoiler or put it in white for people who haven't got to it, like uae.

Also, MGS games have always been cut-scene heavy, MGS4 was no different. For me MGS2 was the weakest, MGS3 and 4 the strongest with 1 just behind.

Yep heard that, nice bit of news that.

Mind you I still need to finally play this idle FF7 copy lying around, the only game I've played in the series properly is FF10 :nervous:

...done.

Oh, come on, you can't say they didn't go overboard with this one...I think it has a lot less gameplay than the previous ones...

Exactly right. 3 was amazing, 4 is incredible and 2 was the weakest. Once you've seen the cutscenes once, you can just skip through them everytime you play the game after that.

For me though, I really enjoyed the cut-scenes, and if anything were disappointed when they ended. That scene at the end of Act 3 with Liquid is my favourite out the entire game, the whole of Act 4 is brilliant and beautifully done. MGS4 really is a great game. Going to get it completed again when my exams are finished.

MGS2 was still very, very good mind. 3 I haven't played for a good 4 or 5 years so I am going to have to replay that one over the summer aswell. 1 is just brilliant, I remember the first time going through that game. So many twists to a brilliant storyline *spoiler coming up*, that twist at the end when you think you are disarming the weapon with the PAL keys but instead you activate it still gets me; and then it transpires McDonald Miller is actually dead and you've been speaking to Liquid all along! Not forgetting Gray Fox either, the first time you meet Otacon and he pisses his pants, the boss battles, the cut-scenes, the fights with Sniper Wolf. How anybody can't love the game is beyond me. I can't wait until it is re-released on the PSN.

I wasted all my ammo on Vamp before I finally figured out how to kill him :S

i picked this up today for 30 euro, big fan of the previous MG titles and have been told this is a must have now that i own a PS3 but tell me tards, does it meet the amount of hype that it has gotten in reviews, i have yet to see a review not give it full marks, is it truly an epic game for the PS3 then? i have been told even the really long cut scenes are mind blowing too

Its a great game, didnt quite understand the 10/10 ratings but it deserved it a lot more than Halo 3 or GTA IV did.

98 average?!

I have a feeling that the game had already been reviewed, much earlier than the release. Hardly surprising considering the muppet shows at sites like IGN and GameSpot. Even EDGE throw in their prestigious 10 rating for shits and giggles (though they've been given them away these last few years like)

i see, so the reviewers are pretty much retarded then?i knew something was up when they ones i was watching kept saying "yeah 100% flawless game 10/10 from me" cant wait to get into the game properly tomorrow though!

GTA IV was one of the most boring, overhyped games ever.

MGS:GOTP was brilliant, not really a 94 though, more like 80/85

im loving this game so far i must say!!

I've started playing this over the last week or so.

I bought it when it come out but never got round to it.

I'm just about to start Act 4 and I have so say, so far, I think it's the best game I've ever played.

I had a skim through this thread and I love the cut scenes and don't find them tedious at all.

Did you play the previous ones?
