Is it normal that the vent goes mental after about half an hour of playing. It makes more sound than a server room!

The fan? It can go off on one at times, but it normally would only last 5 minutes or so under heavy load (I said in the other thread that I'm stress testing mine). Have you got it well ventilated? It's not sat on your carpet is it?

It is sat on a wooden table with a wall about 10cm behind it and a whole living room infront of it. I even had the balcony 2 metres away open!

Needs air.

Only problem with dust is to fan performance.

I know, it's still a lot though. I'm definitely not going to check the 360's intake, there's probably rats and shit in there!

Anyway, new theory. Could the urine have dried and left a residue possibly causing the console to think it's overheating on start up? I might be clutching at straws, but according to my research the blinking pattern means overheating...

UPDATE 2:

Power supply is off, Blueray drive is out. Both appear to be ok.

I'm not sure I approve of Sony using what appears to be cheap band-aids to hold wires down.

The inside (and outside to be honest) layout reminds me of an old atari.

I've had an idea to film me ripping out the cell as if I've just killed a man, just for you Weaste. This may or may not actually happen.

Suck my salty white chocolatey balls.

UPDATE 3:

feck YOU SONY! Did you think those hidden screws would stop me? Did you really think a piece of broken black plastic would halt my finding out the secret?

It's this isn't it? I had always feared as much...

UPDATE 4:

I've found plenty of stuff that I can only describe as Plasticine and Tin foil. Seriously, there's some weird looking stuff in here.

I'm beginning to wonder for my sanity. There's screws everywhere and maybe I can't remember where they go.

Let's all have a look.

Cheers!

That orange square is the plasticine thing I was referring too BTW, and the tin foil is clearly shown in Picture 4.

I hope you aren't taking these updates as a slight Weastie, I am (as always) actually impressed with the PS3. Especially the little arrows that show where the screws go ;)

One thing though, they don't actually show what screws go there, which is where I've hit trouble since there are about 100 of the feckers

Tin foil!

Is the "orange plasticine" the piss detector or some form of shock absorber/cushion?

Come on, the main lead from the BlueRay drive to the mother board looks like tin foil! It's about as strong as it too, but I managed not to rip it ;)

I think the plasticine is a shock absorber. It sits neatly under the Blueray drive at the exposed point of a chip. Probably exposed for air flow, and the square stops any kind of vibration. I might be 100% wrong though.

Is it like that to reflect heat in such an enclosed space rather than the normal plastic ribbon cables you would find in a PC?

If you truelly want to believe that stuff, then I guess you can.

The fan is awesome.

It should be, it took four of us to life the fecking thing. No wonder the PS3 is so big and heavy!

I'm not believing anything, just asking you a sensible question; but as per usual...

Aww don't get all like that!

 Seriously though, I wouldn't know. It's possible I suppose, but going by the insides of the machine and the super-slim line of the cables (which all do lay down and fit snuggly impressively well, I might add) I think they might be that way because it provides strength?

Again I might be way off, but that's the impression I get. Oh and you might like to know, everything fits impeccably well. If I ever have to open a 360, I very much doubt I'd find the same.

Right newer update!

I've put the PS3 back together and after a good clean out, something new is happening...

It turns on, the light goes green for a bit, then yellow and then flashing red. The yellow is new and going by the traffic light system I'm taking that as a sign that something better has happened.

New thoughts?

It is. Just making sure that you don't have any artic silver about. I suppose piss couldn't have got under that?

It's possible. Everything online about the yellow light then flashing red leads to talk about overheating.

I know little in this area, do you think it's possible the piss could have affected the heat sink?

Anything is possible!

You really shouldn't piss on these things in the first place.

I still don't understand how you can get so drunk you decide to piss anywhere near your tv or PS3 in the first place!

Anyway, new update. I find that if I set a standard room fan to full speed and blast the front of the PS3 when turn it on, the green light stays on longer.

Maybe it's just best to phone up Sony and have a funny conversation with the bird on the end of the line?

"Sorry, I was a bit drunk and decided to piss all over my PS3, now it has a flashing yellow light how much do you charge for repairing it if I make sure I wipe my urine residue off it?"
