I feel for you. But it's worth the wait. In fact I'd just cancel the order from Amazon and pick it up tomorrow.

I really wish I didn't have to go to bed. Being up at 4am sucks.
If it doesn't arrive by 10am I'm going to tesco and will send the Amazon one back

Normally I wouldn't mind but I'm off work this week and have a wedding on Friday so tomorrow and Thursday is only chance I have to properly play it as I'll be too hungover Saturday

Unless it's your own wedding don't go.

For first chapter revenge

Spent an hour running around on the horse, spent another hour creeping and messing with stealth kills and all that, only bothered to go and get the Intel now.

Reached the place where Miller is. Half asleep I rode in John Wayne style and got blown to pieces. Great fun!

I presume you can reach him stealthy enough? I'll give it a go tomorrow. Anyone recommend left or right side?

Got this yesterday, only managed to start the intro mission and haven't even completed it yet. Graphics are better than I anticipated honestly. Hopefully it's going to continue once I move over to the open world, I intend to play this a lot today unless Until Dawn gets the better of me.

The open world graphics are even better.

I've put in hours on this game and only just done a few of the main missions, doing all the side missions first to upgrade.

 This is going to replace Witcher 3 as the game I play for months. Convenient time as I'm getting close to the end of Witcher.

Played until 1am last night - time absolutely flies when playing this game! It feels such a well-realized world that you inhabit. Love the graphics, but also the visual design of the different elements - things like the screen where you choose your loadouts for the mission (this screen is from the demo):

I also particularly like the supply drops mechanism - being able to resupply or change your loadout at anytime really enables you to find the best approach for a particular mission. It also feels natural - ordering them then having them drop ahead of you as you are on the way to the target, so you can collect them as you go.

I completed mission 6 last night - which was tough! Think I am going to focus on some side-ops and build up cash and resources to research more advanced weapons etc...

Think that's the way forward :)

Is it lacking Metal Gear fantasy? I've heard it's much more gameplay driven. I hope they haven't taken the dramatic cutscenes and bosses out.

Anyone else notice at the end of your first mission, just as you enter the helicopter to end the mission, your horse automatically parachutes and goes flying into the air. This was before they explained the recruitment stuff so I had no idea why that happened.

There does appear to be a lot less cut scenes but then again i haven't gone too far into the story as i've been doing side missions.

I know some people didn't like the long cinematic cut scenes of the previous games but i loved them i hope it picks up in this game.

Same here. That's part of MGS' magic - finishing a tense area and reaching a crazy cutscene. And the bosses in this series have always been magnificent.

Only played the opening sequence and that was pretty crazy.

You get an intro to some of the bosses at the start of the game, so i wouldn't worry about the boss aspect of the game.

You don't need to worry about that ;)

My gametime at of close of play at 2am last night was about 25 hours..... I'm 5% in

I think they have replaced the traditional cutscenes with audio tapes that you can listen to anytime.

I actually much prefer this - I put them on as I am roaming around, or on the way to an objective. The long cutscenes of previous games would end up annoying me - my time to play is limited as it is, so I would rather be actually playing during this time, then spend it watching a cutscene - even with them being as good as they often were.

Currently downloading the game- and its allowing me to play as it downloads, just have one question...

Whats the purpose of creating a character when you first start the game? its this for multiplayer? At first i thought i was stuck in multiplayer mode, but it seems as its part of the actual beginning of the game. Very confused .

Turns out it's for multiplayer, was a bit confused at the time too.

Cheers! i kept quitting and then gave up thinking it would only let me play multiplayer until the full game had downloaded.

Have to say - was so impressed with the face creator - looked among the most lifelike created face I've seen in a game.

Will upload an actual screenshot from the game, but this was how mine ended up:

Have you played it yet Stu or is it just in anticipation?

It's worse when you've played it cos then you're planning/playing out missions in your head instead of working:D
It was only anticipation. I've played it now though, and I certainly want more!

I haven't really made use of the cardboard box yet - will have a try with it.

This video has some suggestions - although it doesn't mention controls...

In the first mission, when it gives us the choice of going straight into the town or 'collecting intel', what does collecting intel actually involve? This is obviously a really basic question, but I haven't gotten anything from the guard posts I've attacked, and I can't question any guards as my Russian isn't good enough...

I think the Russian interpreter is one of the very early side-ops - so if you do another mission or so, then it should be available for you.

Once you have him, then you can interrogate guards etc.

Everyone was right, this game is really well optimised for PC. Even on my aging rig I have everything maxed out except for volumetric clouds. I've played a couple of hours so far and I've just airlifted a
puppy

Best. Game. Ever!

theres some documents in the first town you see. The town which you look at with the binoculars when talking to ocelot at the start of the mission. It's in the building to the left side of the town. I think it helps narrow down where Miller is located

Had a fortunate event on Mission 6...

There is a relay station where the guards are interrogating the prisoner who knows the location of the Honey Bee weapon. On my first attempt, by the time I took out the guards this side of the relay station, he had already been driven off in the jeep. I was then going to cross the bridge to take out the other guys, when I stepped over the edge, and he hung by his hands from the edge. I then pressed the wrong button, causing him to fall to his death.

When I re-spawned, I was over by the side of the bridge closest to the prisoner. I put some C4 down in the road, and detonated it as the jeep drove over it. The prisoner was thrown clear by the blast, while the jeep subsequently exploded, killing all guards in it. I then fultoned the prisoner back to MB and got the location!

No idea if he will always survive the blast, or whether I just got lucky...but was an effective way of dealing with that part of the mission!

The rest of the mission is really good - up until the weird skull people appear. Died a few times before I managed to blow them all up!

Aah, I missed that completely. Spent about two hours stumbling through the final village instead.

 The first time I tried that mission I tried to make my way down going by the road, I got past a few sets of guards without being spotted then BLAM I get seen trying to steal their Billy Idol Rebel Yell tape of course they're infuriated by this callous act & everything goes to shit, after lots of panicking & clumsy running & gunning I eventually get killed by some mortar rounds, when I restart back at the top I wanted to see if I could get there before they drove him away so just sprinted straight down the hill to the right of the bridge, across the big clearing down below the relay station then up about 5 or 6 flights of stairs to where they were still interrogating him, lured a guard down the last flight with the arm click, sneaked up close to them & shot them all in the face during the reflex slow motion and fulton'd that little bugger out of there.
