Yeah, speed of mind is what we're lacking, not speed of feet.Lukaku and Martial have similar speed as the other fastest players you've listed there. Lingard and Mkhi are similar speed as the slower players that you've listed. Mata is the only one who is actually slow.
There are two things which give teams fast attacking play. The first is the speed of the players. We have that. The other is the speed of moving the ball, which is where we are utterly atrocious. That's what we need to improve. In theory Ozil should help with that.

Little things like this that would add so much more to our side in the counter-attack which we're lacking.
He’s clearly not injured and is obviously at Carrington right now having a medical and doing weird handshakes with Lingard and Pogba.
Typical Ozil, been invisible all game.

Imagine him with Pogba creating a chance.
I can only imagine Lukaku missing it.
Unlike your idol we sent the other way?I can only imagine Lukaku missing it.
Lukaku, Rashford and Martial are just AS fast AS any trio in pretty much any club. Kdb? He’s slower than Pogba and certainly slower than Lingard and Miki. Aguero is quick but far from fast. The same goes for Coutinho. Both have good acceleration and are agile, but both lack top speed. Mahrez fast, dynamite fast? Right. He’s certainly no faster than Lingard. You actually think he would outrun Martial?Anyone who thinks a slow Mesut Ozil is the answer to our attacking problems needs their head checked.
Look at the pace City and Liverpool have compared to us. That’s what we’re lacking. That penetration and speed in the attack. City have it with Sterling/Jesus/Sane/Aguero/KDB and Liverpool have it with Mane/Salah/Coutinho/Firmino.
Our attackers are Lukaku/Martial/Lingard/Rashford/Mkhi/Mata.... none of those with the exception of Rashford are lightening fast like those rival attacking players. Not even close.
We had a similar player in Di Maria and we fecked it up by playing Ashley Young over him. Who could blame him for packing his bags?
That’s why I want to see Perisic and Dybala come in. And a right sided player like Mahrez, Willian or Zaha. We need that dynamite speed. That unorthodox winger.
That’s rubbish. There’s no way Lukaku, Rashford and Martial are faster than Sane, Sterling, Mane, Salah and Aguero. Not with the ball.Lukaku, Rashford and Martial are just AS fast AS any trio in pretty much any club.
We have fast players, we don't have players with brains. We lack craft and creative spark, desperately.

That’s obvious to see.

it's funny to see so many people moan in the utd forum about the lack of effort and leadership from our players and then you come into the transfer forum and have people getting wet about signing a player who is relentlessly criticized on the caf and in media for a lack of effort and leadership. Good old RedCafe.
Lack of effort or leadership is not the concern of the team this season, what is the concern of the team is two things. Creativity and Runners.
Pogba is the only player with the required creativity; a top team needs 2-3 sources of creativity. We have one runner in the team and he isnt even supposed to be a runner (Lukaku). Martial, Rashford (on the wing), Mata, all want the ball to feet.
The shortcomings in the team are all inherited shortcomings, we lacked creativity and runners under LVG because we were obsessed with holding the ball and passing the ball into the net. We do not have the correct profile of players for a top team.
This team requires one more creative player, and two more wide players that run the pitch dry (one winger and one fullback).
Spot on. One of the best posts I've read on here for a long time.
I'd add Lingard to the list of "runners". His off the ball movement is the main reason he gets in the team. It's just a shame his quality lets him down.
I think Mata has very good movement too. He just doesn't have the athleticism to go with it.
Ozil would make a huge difference to this team.
Mata and Lingard are squad players; Both have shortcomings in their game that prevent them from being starters for a top team. Mata is not physical enough. Lingard is not consistent enough.
We have seen many times when Mata is in the middle; that he gets pushed of the ball very easily which leaves us exposed. He also contributes to the lack of runners in the team because of his lack of physical presence; he needs players around him to pass and move with him.
Lingard is a good runner, but being a good runner is pointless if you don't have end product. Maybe Lingard can become that player, because he is doing well this season. But it could just be that he's on a purple patch.
Eeeerrrr... he's got the best end product in the squad, and amongst the best in the league. 6 goals and 4 assists in only 837 minutes. All while maintaining a passing accuracy of 87.1%.Mata and Lingard are squad players; Both have shortcomings in their game that prevent them from being starters for a top team. The one with one of the best conversion ratios in Europe?Unlike your idol we sent the other way?
Why's this gone so quiet?
It's such an obvious transfer, at a fortunate price, just fecking do it.
If we don't sign him now, but then start trying to get him in the Summer for free only to fail after wasting loads of time on it, I'll be done with Woodward.
