If he was here I think he would know what Jose would expect and wouldnt of him and that his attitude under Wenger would not be the same.

I'm in two minds about it, I feel he succeds when there is 10 other hard working class players around him like he did at Real and with Germany, maybe the ship has sailed who knows.

It seems like an obvious one. Let's tempt him, Sanchez and throw that french lad in and we will have some squad. But I can see Jose definitely going for Ozil and maybe there is truth to this but you never know in reality. We would have to sell too I imagine, to ensure our squad don't become bloated. We need to address Pereira situation.

Now let me think, Ozil or Dybala? Gee that's a tough one. Ozil..... nah just kidding!
They don't play in the same position, nor would one coming in stop us buying the other. Ozil would more likely be Mata's replacement and that arguably makes us stronger, while making us say £20m.

They both like to operate central behind the striker. I don't see Ozil being happy on the right flank. Surely a more natural wide forward like Pulisic would offer more balance to the attack.

Honestly speaking he is a very good technically gifted player, but he goes missing in most games and that isn't going to cut it here.

Let's try steal Sanchez, I would hate it if he goes to City which is likely.

Weighing up the pros and cons of this move make his signing a no brainer to me. The fact he's on a free is just too good to be true.

The truth is we lack a playmaker with consistent killer instinct. For all of Mkhi's good work he's appalling at times picking the final pass whereas with Ozil there's no one better in the league. We can also use his set piece delivery to capitalise on our height advantage.

We're all aware of his shortcomings but he will be more aware than any of us of what is required to play under Mourinho so I can't see him displaying a lack of effort here.

I wouldn't say that's entirely correct. Ozil is a number 10, while Dybala has generally played up front alongside Higuain as a secondary striker. Although, they can be similar positions and Dybala has also played in behind the striker as well. But my original point was pointing to the fact that reportedly Mourinho wanted Griezmann to play alongside Zlatan this season. So, if we were to get Dybala next summer, it would be as an alternative to Griezmann and Ozil would be a replacement for Mata.
I agree on your point about having natural wingers and I'd love Pulisic here, but I see Pulisic as more of a Miki type player who is perhaps better as a CAM.

If we signed him it would be because Mourinho wants him and rates him - which is good enough for me. People should remember the Matic and Perisic threads before talking about Ozil's 'lack of'. We wouldn't be getting the same Arsene'l player.

Look at matic. When Jose knows a player and wants him but it's someone the muppets don't really fancy and then they come in and actually do great, surprise suprpse like, the manger knows what he wants and what fits the team best. Ozil is a great footballer in a weak team. He'd do great here if the manger wants him. His stats are actually very good since he joined arsenal. If the manager doesn't want them him no problem. I think miki is in and around as good though. Ozil would be amazing in a dominant team

Obviously Sanchez is many times the player he is. Would be utter madness to go for Ozil over Sanchez, especially given the qualities of the players we already have.

He had a Hazard-like dip last season. I can't see any reason why the right manager can motivate him back to his potential. Maybe even a manager who's achieved it before. It'd be great if we had one of those.

I think you're right about Pulisic. He should eventually operate as CAM in whichever team he plays for. I think he's excellent on the flanks though, for now. I could easily argue that every one of our forwards is more effective in central roles, but that isn't so bad if we have fullbacks that can provide quality passes into the box consistently. Obviously old style wingers are a thing of the past, but players that are versatile enough to move into wide areas and attack the box from either side will improve us more than anything. Martial can do it from the left hand side, but Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku, Lingard, Rashford are noticeably more effective operating in central roles. I think Ozil and Dybala (and Griezmann) will only add to that list. If we're going to add a #10 or second striker, it might as well be a massive upgrade like Dybala or Griezmann.

Most people would prefer Dybala but he would likely cost at least 200m more with wages and transfer fee, that's not something even United could ignore.
Dybala would be worth 200m in today's market. He's on par with the Neymar's of the world and even better than Mbappe and Dembele who went for 100-160m.

I was thinking 150m bare minimum with somewhere around 500-600k a week in wages, if not more depending on his performances this season considering he's already on 14m, which supposedly doesn't even include his image rights. Ozil at best will cost 75m over 5 seasons.

How about fairer question? Ozil + 100mil release clause Griezmann + 30mil punt prospect or 150+m Dybala?
That's a fair question . I might go for Dybala still. Or Griezmann + 30mil punt. I wouldn't bother with Ozil either way. He's not an upgrade on Mkhitaryan anyway.

I guess we are lacking some midfield creativity without Pogba but this would have to be with absolute assurance that Jose knows he'll get the Ozil that played under him and not Arsene. Don't know why anyone thinks hes better now, hes absolutely regressed at Arsenal.

I hardly see anyone say he's better than before. As regressed as he is, he is still consistently very good and productive in less stable Arsenal now. So he is not as shite as the media paints him

I'd take him on a free, who wouldn't? He's a world class player when he's up for it. Mourinho would get much more out of him than Wenger and he would be a great option to have. He is a blend of Miki and Mata.

He stars for Germany because they don't have the entire transfer market to choose from. Who is his competition for this place in the national team?
Since his debut he has had Podolski, Kroos, Muller, Schurrler, Reus, Draxler, Goetze, Gundogan, Meyer, Goreztka, Stindl, Gnabry, Sane, Amin Younes, Sidney Sam and Bellarabi as competition. His beaten all of them off even when they have been fit and on form

There are pro's and con's with this possibility.

Pro's
Free

Con's
High wages
Lack of consistency
Poor work rate

I would say all in all our problem areas going into next season will be an attacking ride right player and or full backs. Miki is flying this year and will get better the more he plays, signing Ozil will just shift miki out wide where he isn't as effective. We also have Mata. I don't think a 10 is that important in all honesty

Ozil has had good days for Germany and Real, and showed glimpses at Arsenal. His stats are good, his body language is shocking. He doesn't strike he as a Mourinho type player, he is quality no doubt but he needs to be carried so he can make the finish or through ball.

I would be against the signing, even on a free

If you could convince Ozil to only play the easy games he would be an amazing player. He's unreal at breaking down defences with his movement and passing.

However in games where his team don't dominate he is shockingly bad. Even worse than Mata. It was a bit of luck for Arsenal that he was injured for their game against Chelsea last week as he's their biggest liability in such matches.

Would he join United under the condition that he would be left out of every big game? I doubt it. So I wouldn't want him here. He just costs you so much against your rivals.

Knowing Jose, he might go for him just to get one over Wenger. Show Wenger how to use him. At his best, he's an amazing player. But he needs the right set up to thrive. We will probably sell Mata to accommodate him. Would not mind. But I'd rather we go for Griezmann. The biggest pro with Ozil is him and Pogba together would help a lot against teams who park the bus. We seem to struggle without Pogba creatively.

If Ozil did well under Jose and I don't follow spanish football much - then I think it's a non brainer. He's got a great profile. Would come on a free. Which means you add quality to the team but also big game experience. A player entertaining his prime where you only have to pay wages? Most people that saw Falcao at United thought no way! But Jose thought he could revive him. So it don't matter so much what he's done at arsenal. He's done fine - can he do better? Jose will believe he can get more out of him. Damn, even if we signed him and sold him a year later, we could make 40+ million easy? In this market maybe even more. It makes a lot of sense. It gives us some problems but we play so many games. There maybe players that will leave. Freeing up space. If you look at our first team there is a lot of potential but can we improve it? Yes and I think many like Lingard, Martial etc will rise to the challenge. City are faves because they have stockpiled a strong squad - for the premier and Europe. It's a big period coming up. We should be all over Sanchez and Ozil - if it's only wages. Someone like Pereira, has to be inspired and have belief that Jose will trust them. It's a pity he went to Valencia at a time where he could really have made an impression here.

A player with great qualities, on a free. Some of us are a bit funny in here. Jose would never guarantee him his place, so he'd have to establish himself on merit.

We have no assurances of signing Griezmann, who I could easily see at Chelsea, City, Bayern, Barca, or PSG.

This reminds me a bit of some fans' reactions to signing (and even resigning) Ibrahimovic.

Think his crossing is also underrated, would be goals galore for Lukaku (even more). All his assists here are genuinely world class passes, having this type of composure in our counter attacks would take us to a completely new level. He was the king of counter attacking at Madrid, combine that with Mkhitaryan/Martial carrying the ball forward and Rashford/Lukaku’s movement, we’d be one of the most threatening teams in the world.

Added the poll.

Personally I'd have him here.

I would like to go for him only if a better alternative (Griezmann, Dybala) isn't possible. I think that Ozil is better than Mhiky and Mata, but he should play as No.10 and so if we get Griezmann, then there won't be a place for him. But if we don't go for Griezmann, then Ozil on a free would be a very nice signing (with Mhiky and Mata fighting for the right winger place).
