Anyone seriously think Ozil won't improve us...I would be thrilled if we can get him in Jan.

If he can do this much under Wenger, imagine how Mourinho will motivate him.

He'd definitely be an improvement on a free, even given his exorbitant wages.

I wouldn't blow £40m on him, but a free transfer would be a good investment. Mata's on his last legs and Mkhi's been hugely disappointing.

If we sell Mkhi we'll probably fetch something like £20m, Arsenal's board won't turn down £25-30m for someone that will leave for free in 6 months time.

Would be a great switch.

Ozil has never been a player to thrive in a possession based team like Arsenal. He works best when he has runners into space and that is what a counter attacking system looks to create.

So many times when we have not had Pogba in the team, our counter attacks have been utter shite. There is a clear lack of quality and experience. Ozil would bring that.

I think this season has been Ozil's best since they've signed him.

Goal would have been better if it went right into the top corner. Bit too central for me...

Don't get the Özil hype to be honest. He's hardly a massive improvement on what we've already got and if we're going to sell Mikhitaryan, we don't want to bring someone else in who disappears when he has to put a shift in. This is all to familiar, feels like shades of Nasri when he was leaving Arsenal and I'm sure we're all glad we dodged that bullet, Özil is going to be the same.

Hopefully some oil rich club looking to make a statement sign him before we dish out daft wages on him.

Sign him up jose.

His composure on the ball would improve us. Obviously the concern is he goes missing in big games but id love for us to give him a chance to prove people wrong. We know what to expect from him and if jose can bring the best out of him then even better.

You're overrating what we have got in this position by such a statement.

He's been by far and away their best player this season. Whether the contract situation is influencing him or not his class is just breathtaking.

One of my favourite players to watch. Would love him here.

This is a pretty absurd statement when not on of our potential #10's can nail down the position as it is.

There's not an attacking player in our squad even close to Ozil. Pogba is the only one with that sort of ability.

Then why not just wait and throw money at Griezmann instead? Özil is a short term appointment that isn't going to elevate the club past where we are.

Because Griezmann isn't creative or a traditional #10, he is more of a SS, which we don't need.

If we sign Griezmann and no one else we'd end up looking no better at all, and having paid 100m euros for it.

So just to be clear, you're saying that signing Griezmann would not make the team look better and wouldn't improve us at all? But signing Özil will answer all our questions and make the team look amazing?

If Özil is so good, why are the likes of Barcelona, Milan, Bayern and Juventus not looking to sign him?

Griezmann is going to cost over £100m. Not to mention they're not very similar and could probably play together. There's like two and half years difference between them - Ozil can play into his 30's easily enough. He's all about his technical ability.

The second point is a pretty generic statement with no actual evidence behind it. Why couldn't one of the most creative players in Europe help elevate us? Why sign anyone who isn't world class?

Yeah, that is totally what I am saying.

Ozil would be better than the options we have, and would improve us a lot. The market isn't flush with great #10's, I struggle to think of any.

Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus already have equal or better, we don't

LOL at Milan.

Why aren't they looking to sign Eriksen, Kane, Hamsik, Salah? I guess they're shite?

Ozil has been heavily linked with Barca for weeks now. Guess Crossy doesn't pay much attention to transfer talk.

Ozil and Bale (if he overcomes his injury problems) would be significant upgrades on what we currently have in their respective positions tbh!!

That has never stopped any of those teams going after a player before now. They've shoehorned players into systems that don't work for the sake of having that talent in their team.

The fact that all the noise about Özil joining United is coming from Özil's camp and we're not hearing anything from other clubs or United mean's something isn't right.

That's rather convenient for you.

Again - Are all players not linked with Barca, Bayern and Juve not good enough for United? Is this seriously your logic?

He can play accurately weighed lobs over the defense line which is a rare thing from playmakers these days. His ground passing and through balls are great too. On a free why not then?

Here's hoping he doesn't lose his set piece skills if and when he joins us because we need someone to put in good corners.

I think 15/16 was his best when he got a crazy amount of assists and at times looked the best player in the league.
He really dipped in the second half of the season, though. I think he went from 15 or 16 assists in the first half to 3 in the entire second half!

Of course not, every player fits a system the manager wants to play. And it's not convenient for me at all, if Özil was what we needed or wanted there would be more noise from our camp, like when Van Persie switched over. No one in Europe is interested in him because he doesn't do enough and is on a stupid salary. How much do you want to bet that if Sanchez hasn't already agreed to join City, they'll be a line of other clubs interested to sign him. That says all it needs to.
