To increase his market value, to prevent him looking desperate - May even be a swap deal. Also may just see Shaw as a squad player and it was the time to play him.

The bookies have it 50:50 that Rose stays/joins us in January. Which is far lower than any other player.

Doubt it. He wouldn't be going on about integrating Shaw otherwise. Young probably has a season left in him as well.

Its' either the weirdo with the bad haircut or ol' bug-eyes. Either of them are class and should keep us comfortably ahead of the chasing pack, if not City.

EDIT: Just saw your justification. I don't think it feels like Jose is putting Shaw on the shop window just yet by playing him, but we will see.

Signing Rose in Jan or June won't make difference going by his comment, whereas there is difference for Ozil as we can sign him for free in June whereas we can sign him for smaller fee in Jan.

Wenger has history in ruling out the exit of his players and then they end up moving. The most recent one was Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool. During the summer Wenger was quoted as saying 'he isn't going anywhere' and just about a month later he was at Liverpool. It doesn't really mean anything. There is a very good chance Ozil is coming to United. Whether that's in January or the summer nobody knows but I have a good feeling on this one.
 
Our biggest problem in recent years is signing inconsistent attackers, so signing Ozil only adds to the issue ffs.

However, I do have one major concern with Ozil and that is he drifts out of the big games. We are already doing well against smaller teams. If something has to change, it has to be our performances/results vs big teams and I am very doubtful Ozil adds that much of a value in those big games.

Will I like us to sign him? Considering we can get him for FREE in the summer or reduced price in January, and he will definitely improve us, I say Yes.

Then just find the best possible right-winger (Mahrez?) and we're all set in attack. Özil + Pogba could match De Bruyne/Silva.

Because City have two excellent players in KDB and Silva that can play at #10 while Chelsea, who don't play with a #10, have Hazard, Pedro & Willian for the positions around the striker? That question doesn't really make much sense.

That team would be annihilated defensively.

Pogba and Ozil aren't as effective with their pressing as City's duo, they also don't have the positional genius of David Silva. That and Mourinho's sides have never adopted that style anyways.

Would make for some fun games though.
 
Also, Many people on here has kind of 'forgotten' Sanchez. Though he primarily operates in LW role where we already have Martial/Rashford, I think Sanchez is equally good at CAM role.

I think he is very complete attacker as in he can do most of the things that is expected from at attacker without having to lose some other aspects. What I am saying is most of the attackers are not so good at tracking back, holding on to the ball, etc but Sanchez is quite good in all those respects too. Forget past 4 months and he was still one of the best, if not the best last season. I think we should focus on getting him if his head is not already set on City.

Yep, he is in an interesting position. Everybody is kind of just expecting him to go to City because they wanted him in the last window, but with how well they've done they may not want him anymore. In which case it'd be very interesting to see just which of the other top teams around Europe will go for him. Would we be one of them? Possibly.

It would be a crap swap. Mata is better in the big games and offers more defensively. I don’t see how swapping Mata for Ozil would make sense.

Not even exaggerating here, but I think Özil and Di Maria were more effective than Bale and James despite La Decima. What they achieved at Madrid was incredible, even eviscerated Pep's Barca during their prime.

If you watch him on the pitch, you’ll see how hard he works. Yes he’s slow and a bit weak but he still busts a gut. Isn’t this one of the biggest criticisms against Özil?
 
Pretty sure the comments from Mourinho are for Griezmann and not for Ozil. I think he is simply Second choice behind Griezmann, we may sign Ozil even if we get griezmann as we will probably sell both Mata and Mkhi in the summer, but dont think ozil comes in january.
