At least today showed how he is on a different planet to Mata pace and strength wise. He's very quick in the interchange.
When there's this much noise around a deal, you know it's led by his agent. I imagine we'd take him if we couldn't get someone better (and probably younger) but I wouldn't have thought we'd be racing to do a deal with him, even if that could only be unofficial at this stage.

I do, but obviously my point is going right over your head. Just because Mourinho can’t get a seemingly average player in Shaw motivated doesn’t mean he can’t gamble with a fantastic, World Cup winning playmaker who he’s had success with before. He’s good at it.
Why would he? Arsenal have barely played 4-2-3-1 all season. He’d be able to play as part of the front 3 when we go 3-4-3/4-3-3 or in our usual 4-2-3-1.
No way he would have given us the work rate Jesse gave us, though.

Change it 'round as you wish, but Ozil could easily function in this sturdy United side in a number of different formations.
I want him here, think he'd excel under José again. Especially in a physically dominant team like us.

He seemed very friendly with our management, Pogba and Martial yesterday. From Mourinho's pre-match interview and the scenes from the game yesterday, I reckon he has already agreed a deal to join us in January.
Maybe he knows them from his Madrid time? Also IIRC Martial and Pogba are Adidas athletes, so is Ozil. So maybe they know each other.
Or I'm just clutching here.
Martial is a Nike athlete. Pogba and Ozil, however, often shoot adidas promos together so you'd expect them to be on friendly terms.

Would love to have him. Jose would not tolerate lazy performances but his ability is very good. I remember that reverse pass he played yesterday from a really tight angle early on in the game which was really intelligent and well executed. He also looked very dangerous for Arsenal on the counter.
I feel like this would shackle Pogba a fair bit, though. Ramsey gets forward a lot in this setup for Arsenal but that tends to unbalance them, and they're better at retaining the ball up which allows for those late runs. As we saw on the Lacazette goal, Pogba also doesn't track runners. I think we get more out of him offensively and less negatives defensively if we find a 10 who can also play box to box on the right or left of Matic, mirroring Pogba. Ideally that would be a guy like Eriksen or a younger Cesc, though that sort of player is hard to find.
Someone like Nainngolan or a prime Lampard would make a lot of sense in terms of giving us energy and a goal threat. Not sure if there's anyone out there like that we could get. Maybe Goretzka? Not sure if he's a good enough playmaker but he certainly has an eye for goal and the size Mourinho likes.

I’d say based on yesterday Ozil would be an upgrade on Mkhitaryan and Mata as a 10 and with the pace of our attackers like Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Lingard would probably be suited more to our style.
Free transfer is an added bonus especially if we can get £20 million for Mkhitaryan BUT we do know he goes missing in big games, it’s those games we need our best players to perform in so that’s the negative.

Oooooh, didn't know that. Tres interesante.He has slowly been changing my perception of him. His performances have been very good this season. His quality was always there but now he seems to have found some consistency and is turning up in big games as well, which was one of his major criticisms.
That said, the reason I'm still on "no" personally is because I want us to sign Dybala.

Yesterday was a big game. Would you say he went missing?
Ozil was pretty good in that game. The only problem was that De God was in net and our attack was clinical.
Yesterday not at all but it’s one game he’s not gone missing in against how many he has ? At his best he’s world class but how often can we get that level from him ? I think you add a genuine quality right forward to Ozil, Rashford, Martial, Lukaku, Pogba and Lingard and I’d be very excited about us attack wise.
Signing Ozil means moving Martial back to the wings.
I think the "he goes missing in big games" thing is exaggerated by people who don't watch him play.

The most important question about any potential signing, would he improve us. With Ozil the answer is yes.
Ozil Pogba Martial would play some sensational football together. It is a no brainer.
That's why Jose is very interested in getting him.

Having the option to play in different ways is a positive. Doesn't mean Martial has to play on the wings either.
If we do get him I cant see it being Jan. Arsenal will still be in top 4 race
