That's Ozil in most big games too.

I like Ozil. Always have been a fan of his talent. But I think we need someone with more energy and drive. He'll be lost in away games at City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs and hasn't even got all that much time at the top going by his form in recent times.
 
He'd be perfect. I mean, the missing piece for us is definitely someone to dominate the small teams and then turn to shit in the big games.

They could just as easily watch the Arsenal v City game, where Ozil was busy putting in a Mkhitaryanesque dissapearing act too.

Ozil may well be an upgrade on Mkhi but it won't be in games like that Chelsea one, where his presence would still see us playing with 10 men.

I don't even think he is, probably is on Mata maybe. Ozil isn't going to transition us from defence to attack with speed and dribbling. It will be more with his passing, in that case he shouldn't replace Mhiki but Mata

EDIT: Yes you are right though, when it matter, the crunch games I don't trust Ozil
 
I'd happily give him a chance for a smaller fee in Jan. If we're going to wait until the summer anyway, i'd rather us go for someone like Fekir who would be here for a while.
 
Ozil is a huge talent, but lacks the strength of character.
I don't believe he would deliver for us consistenly.

Not for me. This would be a barmy move by Jose. It's okay scoring wonder goals against Ludogorets but never ever does it when Arsenal's backs are against the wall. Where was he against City yesterday? Worst player on the pitch!!!! Would much prefer Jose to move for Mahrez in January and call back Perreira too.

Anyone thinking Ozil is the answer to any of Our problems needs mental help. If he were to sign we’d have giving him millions and millions in signing on fees plus millions and millions a year salary. As if he needs any more reason to be lazy. He isn’t even close to what we need.

By the way our defense and midfeild is stronger than that of arsenals so we can really free him of defensive duties and let him pass and link up with the forwards. And we know he can pass.

Given that mata and mkh are not doing that we should keep tracking the situation.
 
Is he the answer to our problems? Absolutely not. Is he better than what we have? Yes, comfortably. He is on a free, bring him in and get rid of Mkihtaryn and Mata. Its a no brainer.

Arsenal have a devoted DM in Coquelin and a fairly decent number 8 in Ramsey who puts the work in. With Pogba in the side, his natural way of playing (and us getting the best out of him) would see matic covering the whole of the central area himself at times. As good as he is, Ozil would be detriment to him. The only way it works is if we play Pogba defensively. Our number 10/9.5/CAM whatever you want to call it CANNOT be lazy in our current set up, it just won’t work
 
I predict that Ozil will be playing for one of the big sides in Turkey next season. They have a tendency of signing big name players who are probably past their best and it could mean a lot for Ozil to play in Turkey since he is someone of proud Turkish heritage. I can not see any of the truly top clubs having any interest in him.
 
He is pretty much Arsenal's own version of Mkhitaryan, but with probably an even greater tendency to hide and/or look uninterested in games when the team could do with a bit of something special to turn the game. Often looks like a huffy, sullen teenager during games.

Good shout that; I’m expecting him to eventually renew with Arsenal once he feels he’s squeezed as much out of the contract renewal as he can (hence the United links) - but if not then Turkey could be a strong option.
 
More talented than Mata and Micky but is this really a player you trust to dig in when we are struggling? People keep talking about his stats at Madrid but that was a long time ago and we don't have Ronaldo for him to pass to. He would be close to 30 next summer and would be on massive wages. Given the recent stories about our wage bill it doesn't look like a great financial decision.

Good player but he isn't what we need.

Ozil always disappears in big games for Arsenal, so not sure where this idea comes from that he will be your 11th man in these games.

Set up correctly and Ozil will give you the right performances.



Ozil has things in his locker that Mkhitaryan could only dream of.
 
Shame that the perfect player is sitting on Man City's bench. Bernardo Silva was perfect no.10 for us. Mkhitaryan has been a disaster.

I don't think Ozil is the answer - Yes he is available on a free but he has similar weaknesses to Mkhitaryan especially in not turning up in big matches and giving the ball away a lot.

I think we need to invest in abetter RB, LB, CM & RW. Yes we need a new no.10 but I would wait till summer to try and attract someone for the long term than mid season fix

Ozil giving the ball away a lot? Are you sure you have him mixed with Alexis Sanchez?

Ozil is premium when it comes to ball retention; he has so many tricks in his book to get out of a sticky situation.
 
Let's be honest, for Arsenal, I've seen him have good games against top sides about 2.. possibly 3x and about 12+ including games against us, where he's been somewhere between poor and invisible.

My basic problem with him is against the big teams, we're not "on top" for periods long or often enough for him to get on the ball, it would potentially be swapping invisible Mkhi out for basically the same issue. Where as.. if he went to City, with them being on top game to game regardless of opponent, you could see him reproducing his Real Madrid numbers.

Your only hope would be if Mourinho could squeeze more consistency out of his former player, though, judging by Mourinho's contract talks, flirting with other jobs, picking fights with the fans and 3 year job history, you wonder how long he'd be around to coach Ozil anyway.

Would love to get a direct player who can run at a defence and cause panic instead, honestly.

disagree ive seen plenty of arsenal displays where Ozil was basically none existant and arsenal where playing with equivalent of 10 men.

truth is both players would be pretty much usless if you hit it long over their heads straight to the striker.

Ozil is in the weird situation that he can go from world class to 'can't be arsed' depending on the finishing (composure) of his strikers... Now that I think of it, Arsenal is probably the worst possible place for him to be at :lol:.
Would probably be possible to make a 1min video like that of any creative pl player, but that's like 6 dozen sitters in that video alone, and he's not even been there THAT long.

For those who judge players by their body language he'll never do, luckily I don't think Mourinho is one of them. (Doesn't mean he's coming of course...)

Rather put a bid in for sanchez out of the summer kitty. He'd struggle to get in this city side week in week at the momout he could be a star man at our club.
 
I am warming up to the idea. Mourinho has, I think, a good working relationship with him and he was very good in Real Madrid. The problem is our two best creative attacking players are young and are therefore a bit inconsistent. Getting him on a free is very advantageous because we can easily replace/upgrade on Mata without spending any money and Mkhitaryen would be deservedly relegated to the bench (mentally frail player, a shame he turned out that way). Now, we won't have to spend heavy money on Griezmann and Ozil is a better creator of chances than Antoine. SO, what would be left is a little matter of getting a Right forward/winger. Now that's a big puzzle for the club. I am absolutely blank on that one.

Obviously they're turning on him. He's going to leave on a free and won't renew his contract, so they're not going to be praising him highly as they're bitter about him wanting to win things.
