This guy looks like the skilled technical players that Man City sign. Compare his close quarter ball control and dribbling skills compared to the typical players we have. Lemar and leon Bailey would add so much skill and dynamism to the team.

Now, that's undoubtedly a role Ozil can't play. That of a CM. KDB does a lot of pressing and clocks many interceptions and quite a few tackles during a game. His stats in this area are much superior to Ozil's, who even Mourinho has said is better played with the freedom to create but no other responsibility. Also KDB produces more powerful and accurate shot outside the box, something Ozil hasn't got in his locker. Thus more of a threat coming from deep.

I know he doesn't, Fekir bursts to the scene 3 years ago only, i was talking about Ozil.

The poster was probably talking about Fekir though, i re read his comment, so it was my misunderstanding.

The point i was trying to make still stand however, there's no evidence to support the fact that Mourinho doesn't sign those kind of players, as he did multiple times in his career before. Ozil being one of the examples.
 
Honestly, whether Ozil has the ability to dictate games depends on how he fares in the game against Man City. That should give us a better indication if we should go in for him coming summer (even if he's free). We don't want to end with another case of Schweinsteger who joined us on the cheap but then paid him hefty wages to do nothing for the team.

Expecting Ozil to dictate game is like expecting Smalling to be Blind's good with his passing, which is unrealistic. Ozil role is support the forward and creating chances which even at his worst, he doesn't neglect.

Bastion situation is different in that he pretty much retired mentally when he joined us. In PL you expect to be fitter given the physical nature of the league and Bastian arrived in worse shape than he had ever been Bayern shirt. Bastian when got injured, failed to stay focus to get back with all his traveling.

I think we all had our heads turned by that game where Özil created 8 chances. He has gone missing again. I know City are levels above Arsenal but he goes missing against weaker sides than this City team too.

I'd rather Griezmann, Sanchez or this Fekir fellow.

No chance too many times he just doesn’t turn up.

He was absolutely awful today, we’d just end up with another good but not great attacking player, we have enough of those.
 
No thanks, don't want him even on a free. We have Mkhitaryan, Mata and Lingard already about his level.

Exactly, this team needs players that can dig in, he's not that guy.
 
Why would we wanting ANOTHER all flash and no substance attacking player? We have two already on the books and they are currently playing the invisible role pretty well.

He'll be 30 a month into next season. How good do people think his age 30, 31 and 32 seasons are going to be? I don't see this, even on a free.

Caf narrative:

Ozil vs Everton away: We absolutely must have him. The earlier the better.

Ozil vs Man City away: He is hopeless. Absolute garbage.


I would take Ozil in a heartbeat. His mentality might not be at the right place at the moment, but it can always be restored under the right man management. His natural talent however can't be doubted.
 
Even if he is lazy, he is always better than Mkhi and Mata.

I am fed up with poor players that are playing for us and doesn't provide anything.

Mata is playing ok these times, but is not scoring or assisting at all. And Mkhi is poorer and poorer.

We really need to fix two or three big issues (Wings and creativity)

And I really think that a player like Ozil at 15/20M this winter will be a better business than paying 70 for a new one this summer.
 
can we find some young player who actually has enough enthusiasm to prove himself instead? We're slowly becoming a football version of elephant grave
 
We need lightening fast players. Di Maria was perfect for us. Why we let him go so easily is beyond me. You see Liverpool forcing Coutinho to stay and Arsenal forcing Sanchez to stay, we should have done the same. He signed a contract.
 
People have short memory. He destroyed Everton just a few weeks ago. Even if he goes missing for a few games, if he turned out with some of these great performances for us, it would probably get us the title, making all the difference in the end.
