Yes please, class above Mata and all the others. He just needs a coach to motivate him. We have one

If January is the target, would Arsenal consider an exchange with Mata? Because we all know how often straight swaps happen in football

Have always maintained I don't want him because he's a lazy asshole. But seeing as Mkhitaryan is as useless as a snooze button on a smoke alarm, I think I'd probably welcome Ozil if we were to sign him. He can at least consistently create chances.

He's an enigma that's for sure. As long as the fans accepted him for what he is then it could be a master stroke by Jose, a Cantona-esque signing that triggers a new era. In my opinion when you sign a player like this you build the team around him, don't expect or want him to change his game to accommodate the way we play.

We lack creativity in that third quarter of the pitch and unless Micky can well and truly step up in the next 8 to 10 weeks then it could be him out and Ozil in come January.

Depressingly he's miles better than Mkhitaryan so I'd be up for him coming here.

Not convinced by this transfer. He is an upgrade on Mata and definitely better than mkhitaryan. He would be ideal in the no.10 position once Pogba, Fellaini, Bailly etc. are all back. I do worry that he might at times get found out in big games with our poor wingers and average fall backs.

I'd rather take Sanchez plus another box-to-box midfielder, then play with three forwards to get the most out of Martial/Rashford.

The current 4-2-3-1 experiment came about because Mkhitaryan wasn't good enough on the wing. But now he's shown not to be good enough in the middle either. We shouldn't be looking to buy like for like, just because an upgrade is available. I really hope Mourinho goes back to his original strategy of 4-3-3 to get the best out of Pogba and the rest of the attackers. No more square pegs in round holes for the sake of one (admittedly brilliant) player.

And all of this is not to mention that Sanchez's balls are even bigger than Ozil's eyes. That's the personality profile we should be aiming for. No more wallflowers, please.

Wenger on Özil Transfer Speculation:

‘When you see Mesut on the football pitch like he is today, enjoying his game like he is today, it’s difficult to believe these kind of things. ‘He was superb. Agile, quick, intelligent. Always at the service of the team with his quality of his passing and when he is at that level, he is an exceptional football player.’

yes please...big owl eyes can create chances even while sleeping..him pogba and matic and that's chances galore for Lukaku and griezmann with martial/rashford..

That’s Wengerspeak for Özil being as good as ours.

We must do everything we can to make it happen. Miles better than Mkhitaryan (aka Kagawa 2.0) and Mata's current form is truly shocking.

Can’t quite believe that a bunch of folk don’t want him. He’s one of the bests creators in the league, leagues ahead of Mkhi and Mata in quality and played his best football under Jose. Given that he’ll also come relatively cheap, I’d take him in a heartbeat. Our team is cryin our for people that’ll create chances and he does that by the bucketload.

Hopefully he can play out his contract doing what he's paid to do and then join United on a free in July. A massive transfer squabble in the middle of the season won't be good for anyone except the tabloids.

Looks like he's back in the Arsenal team and playing well. Well, he needs to since it's a World Cup year. Probably he has agreed an extension with them or something?

Take him in a heartbeat, set position, decent pace, great touch, great vision, good passing and great intelligence. Not even a debate for me when a good player is available in last year of contract or for a free. Him and Sanchez would be no brainers actually - I don't think either will happen though.

Yea Ozil true fire among players in PL thats why, actually its pointless even discussing.

He also has 1 assist less than Fabregas in 100 fewer games.

BS stats, as assist weren't recorded properly until recently (and there are still questions regarding its definition). Bergkamp has more than 100 assists in EPL alone, and I'm sure Scholes and Zidane provided more than 100 assists combined

If United could get him for free or very low fees in January, that would be very good for the team I think. Strengthen the team and weaken the rival team at the same time. Such a good playmaker. Mata is a good player and a gent, but Ozil is an improvement. Miki for all his good stats so far, his overall game seems to regress bit by bit, and in some instances couldn't even hold the ball, or pass the ball even when the chances presented itself.

Assists were recorded in 2003 or there abouts.

You seem to know assists stats despite them not being recorded. What's your secret?

Scholes' number is recorded on this site.

I guess they did it retrospectively, but Bergkamp's assist record was mentioned here when opta (I think it was them) compared De Bruyne's numbers with others.

Amazing job by @Mrs Smoker has Scholes on 98 assists

That's 192 (94 + 98) without Zidane already, and Bergkamp's tally is just for the EPL, so his club record would be higher.

MEN says we have not shown interest in Ozil, and the player has not told his team-mates he's leaving for OT
Manchester United have not made a move for Mesut Ozil - but are one of three clubs the Germany star would be willing to leave Arsenal for, according to a source close to the player.
MEN Sport understands Arsenal have not completely given up hope of extending the 29-year-old's contract, which expires in the summer, but do not want to hand him a sizable wage hike.

Ozil currently earns £154,000-a-week and wants that sum increased by 30% to £202,000-a-week to make him one of the Premier League's highest earners
A bizarre sticking point is that Ozil also wants to wear the club's No.10 shirt, which has been assigned to Jack Wilshere ever since the German's £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013, and there has been no progress on a new deal since the last round of talks in March.

It is understood Ozil would leave Arsenal for just three clubs - United, Barcelona and Real Madrid - and he would not be interested in a move to Italy or Turkey.

But MEN Sport understands United have not shown an interest and, contrary to reports, Ozil has not told his team-mates he is leaving for Old Trafford.

Also, a mid-season move to a Premier League rival appears to be off the table - even if Arsenal were to recoup somewhere between £15m and £20m of their original investment.

Barca, Real or United? If the lack of Jose interest is true, he probably won't move at all, then. I don't see him as a Chelsea or Tottenham player, and City don't need him.

I was just thinking about why I wouldn’t really want him.

The answer was “this feckin place”.

I just can’t bare the thought of the agenda posting once he’s no longer our shiny new toy and he starts putting in the odd abject performance.

He’s pretty much the text book build of a player that will cause pages and pages of tedious circular bullshit arguments on here.

Why would Real Madrid wish to have him back, and why would Barca wish to have a Madrid castoff??

So is this just another classic case of a player creating links for himself to United during a contract renewal with his present club?

People who don't want him at United must be mental. The guy oozes class when he's on form and I'm sure Mourinho would get that form out of him better than anyone.
