Comfortably better than Mkhi or Lingard as a 10. Just do it

I like Ozil technically but we need to stop going after mentally fragile players.

Please no. I'm absolutely tired of seeing lethargic No. 10s and wide players like Mata, he literally will just be another pointless option for us. Get someone that actually run with the ball please.

Ozil isn't going to solve our problems. He's the exact same as Mkhi and Mata in that he only plays well when the team is. We need someone who, when the going gets tough, will step up like Silvavand De Bruyne do for City.

Lads, have you seen him when the chips are down? If Mhki and Mata are having a tough time, Ozil will be slaughtered.

Exactly this. On his day he might be one of the best number 10s out there but he only has these days at exactly 20°C and when at least 7 of his teammates are already having a great game. We need a couple of game deciders in the squad like Sanchez and not more Mkhi/Mata's.

Could you imagine ozil in today’s game?

You thought it was frustrating? With ozil I’d likely put my foot through the fecking tv

Mourinho knows how to get the best out of him and stop him from sulking though. If you have read his book he basically talks about situations in which Jose has had a go at him when he sulked and he went on to have a fantastic game.

That was at Real though surrounded by good players, he'd be terrible with our current attacking options. The Ozil of around 2012 also seems to have disappeared, we'd be getting the Arsenal-ised version.

Ozil or Lingard....tough choice that. I’d actually take Ozil over any player in our squad that can play the 10 role.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a resurrection story but I honestly think Jose could get 2-3 good years out of him. I think it has to be Jose as the manager though as he is the type of person that reacts better to be challenged.

I bet he would walk into this team and be as comfortable and impressive as Matic has been.

TBF Ozil had some shockers like today with Arsenal against shite teams as well when his mentality was appealing.

Still want him asap, though.

Throw Mkhi in the deal. Wenger wanted him before. If we end up with Arsenal Ozil and we get rid of Mkhi then we didn't lose anything. We just made a like for like transfer of dross in January.

is the one that has actually played and succeeded in the EPL.

Has he? Must have missed that. So far his stint at the arse seems really unremarkable to me and more littered with him chasing women, being regularly out of form and throwing a hissyfit at not getting payed enough.

And yes I'd rather gamble on Goretzka on a free than Özil on a free who will still cost a us a small fortune in wages and signing on fees.

Played in the EPL? Sure, we can all agree to that, unless you just waked up from a five-year hypersleep.

Well, dont let that blind you from the fact he's had his moments, scored, created, assisted and won some trophies too while being generally, Arsenal's best player since he joined.

Every transfer is a gamble. On Ozil's case, forget the wages and sign on fees, its a gamble we can afford to take, we need him, and for free? Its a no brainer. Goretzka has been at Schalke since 2013 and just came to prominence last season. I understand why you might want him, but doing that at the expense of deriding Ozil, doesn't seem very wise.

I was all for this signing. But now I think I'd rather go for a less talented player with a better mentality. The squad lacks attitude more than it does ability.

Well, the huddersfield game showed it was the opposite. Lingard screwed up a lot of final passes; Valencia got into decent crossing positions but he didn't cross, because he isn't a very good crosser. Our players are very poor against teams that play defensive and only Pogba and Mkhi has the ability to pass between the lines but Mkhi can't keep the ball in tight spaces. Overall its more a case of players not been good at some particular things rather than attitude. Adding players for their attitude over their talent doesn't seem like the right thing to do right now. We have a lot of average players in the team.

The Huddersfield game showed the exact opposite in Mourinho's own words.

That's in Mourinho's own words. There's no way he will deride or question the ability of his players, its always going to be their attitude.

Herrera said the same thing.

We have better players than Huddersfield. The level of ability was definitely good enough for that game.

Fair enough, but you can say the same for Herrera. There's no way he criticizes his and his teammates abilities. For me, it was defensive errors that cost us the game. If we didn't make those errors, they wouldn't have played as defensive as they did, meaning we would have won the game. IMO, I don't think its all about attitude, its obvious we are not very good at breaking down defensive teams.

I’d be up for getting him in January but if we’re waiting until summer, we should be going for someone much more consistent, works harder and performs under pressure. Ozil might provide a few magical moments but he’s a bottler.

Ozil sees what others wouldn't see and picks them out like nobody could.

Imagine him feeding Rashford, Martial and Lukaku?

Would take him regardless of the knee jerk from yesterday, we need more than one creative force to make up for injuries and having multiple avenues of chance creation during a game. We look clueless without Pogba especially now that HM has gone down one of his depressive trips

Starting against Everton away in what looks like a strong line-up for Arsenal. Will be interesting to see how he performs.

Another thing about him and Griezmann; why would they want to come to United? Money can be earned elsewhere as well, but we’re reachibmng that point where players might be influencee by all the negative press. Griezmann must be sick of playing for a defensive Atletico Madrid-side as it is, so why not just wait for a club that emphasizes on killing teams rather than nullifying them.

Just bring this guy in and next summer Griezman, Perisic and Sanchez. We need to upgrade our attack massively.
