Touch, on balll involvement video is not the best to judge performance, but overall it's acceptable performance. Put that in place of Mkhi vs L'pool, arguably we might have more chance to sneak goals. How little we created, we did create a goal scoring chance, when Mkhi was absolutely wasteful. Ozil for all flaw ain't often the worst player in Arsenal team like he is being scapegoated whenever Arsenal failed.

For one thing our set piece deliveries would be settled once and for all with him coming in and with the height in our squad that'd be lethal weapon

For another, ozil and zlatan coming in the second half of the season will make us that much threatening and close the gap on city's attacking talents. With our better defence and GK that may just give us the edge in the title race if it clicks and the potential is there for it to do so as they are 2 players mourinho has worked with previously and you just have to look at matic to trust Jose to pull it off

Finally it gives us attacking strength in depth to compete on all fronts and that is what I'm more excited about, needless to say but I'm all in on this transfer and how can it hurt when we have backups in his position if things go south

Ozil FTW!

How much do you wager that Micky's performances in recent weeks have been a tactical instruction from Jose so we fans will be eager for ozil's arrival rather than having a mutiny.

Jose, always been a master at mind games.. the evil genius

It's a no brainer especially for free or a lower fee. He's not as lazy as made out and he's without a doubt one of the most creative players. He'd help us unlock defenses better.

I completely agree. Ozil is an upgrade on both Mata and Mkhi for sure. And I don't see Mata staying beyond next summer

Also, Zlatan and Ozil - two world class players - coming in during December will give the squad a huge boost

He was a great signing for Real Madrid in like 2010. They only paid about 10 mil. for him too.
I reckon if Mkhitaryan was playing for Arsenal 52% would want him as well. Former Bundesliga of the year, he's cheap: a no brainer really.

Ozil has shown a lot more than Mkhi and his current decline is more due to a soft manager, lack of motivation and desire.

He will be a great signing for us if it happens. Just the shot in the arm we need.

I would only say yes to this transfer if we are somehow limited on the transfer budget, and Jose plans on spending big on a RM (Carrasco maybe?) while opting for Ozil over Griezmann. That would make sense for me, since we need to buy a full back and CM also. I doubted Jose's decision about Matic, I'll trust him on this one even though I don't like Ozil.

On a free I would say yes, still a bit of a gamble but I think he would do decently here and give us a few more options

I think he's better then Mkhitaryan. A name I don't have to Google (edit: twice) everytime to not misspell it helps a lot too. Get him in, Mou will get him to perform again I'm sure.

It would mean either Mkhit or Mata leaving for me because im sick of seeing a #10 type playmaker on the right wing and we cant have 3 players all fighting to play behind the striker (take into account also Zlatan who once fit will be fighting for a similar spot)

If we can get both him and Sanchez (at really low fees in Jan) then that'll be brilliant business. Can even sell Mkhi who has really disappointed and make up the cost for those two.

Yes! Would be an amazing buy and adds more depth to our front line.

He’ll get ridiculous numbers in our side.

Mark Lawrenson
Jose Mourinho once said to me, when sometimes he would turn his back in training with Real Madrid he could always tell when Ozil struck the ball.

It made a different sound.
lol

With the wages and signing on fee he'd be wanting he definitely wouldn't be "on a free".

He'll cost £70m+ over a 4 year deal by which time he'll be 33 and even slower and lazier than he is now.

If I were giving an Arsenal player that kind of sum over the next 4 years it's a no brainer to go for Sanchez.

No brainer

If they want to stay, we should keep them. Big clubs have such players for depth, it'd be like Real who had Rodriguez, Isco and Morata on the bench at various times. We will be in 4 competitions and everyone would get playing time.

If they want to leave, then sell them.

Better than Mhiktaryan and Mata, worse than Griezmann. Would take him in e heartbeat to replace Mhiky, but I hope that we go for Griezmann instead. Ozil isn't that good in the right wing, so if we get some other player for No.10, then this signing would be totally un-needed.

If we were to sign Ozil I think he'd be replacing Mata, but I'm still hopeful of the Greizmann deal as I think he gives us more utility (being able to play out wide better than Ozil) and we'd actually keep Mata for at least a season longer. Next season I am expecting us to be playing a similar front line with Lukaku up top, Rashford/Martial alternating on the left and Greizmann/Mata/Mkhitaryan/Lingard rotating for the No.10 and Right positions. Obviously, there will be times where there's no place in the line-up for half of these guys if we play 433, but that's just the way it is. It's why I don't think José is going for more than 7/8 players for those 3/4 available positions in a starting XI.

I'd wager zero at that. That's a stupid suggestion.

Ozil was my favorite player when he was in Germany and Spain. I was heart broken when we didn't sign him before Madrid or before Arsenal. He is absolutely on a different level when playing with confidence.

Having said that it is very hard to look past his time at Arsenal. He's been average at best for large parts of a season. I've no doubt he's better than Mkh, but will he be as inconsistent as him? At least Mkh offers you that fast pressing ability.

Our attack needs real quality adding to it. I was a huge fan of Ozil a few years ago but since he went to Arsenal I've bout followed him as closely but do see the odd few ganes here and there.

If we can get him at his best then he'd be an amazing signing but we have to absolutely be sure that we can do this. We need our next few signings to be spot on in order to close up this gap. I'm certain he'd be better than Mata and Mkhi but that doesn't equal being the difference that transforms our attack necessarily.

I think players are capable of rediscovering their prime if they want to play for a manager they like. Matic was an example where many on here thought was underwhelming last year but turns out to be a rolls royce. I think Mesut will prove to be the same. He's a fantastic player on form.
I don't really see the comparison. Most of the arguments surrounding Matic were more about aesthetics than doubting his ability to perform a function in the team.

I honestly don't think Ozil offers much we don't already have in Mata or Mkhitaryan. We're probably monitoring the attacking midfielder on the wrong side of North London, if anything.

He's better than Lingard/Mata/Miki so it's obviously a good move. Look at the strength in depth City/Madrid/Bayern/Barca all have.

A forensic view of players (especially world class ones) always exposes a darker side of them like most genius's, they apply something that's always conditional to their circumstance and therefore in order to get the best from them, the environment needs to be right. Clearly is not at Arsenal and hasn't been for sometime. Their bar is based on technically ability and not just running around to hide the lack of it. When CR is not on it, he looks terrible.

Look at Ozil at Real and for Germany, true world class player and if he came here a manager that understands the conditions and environment to get the best out of him. World class player for free, this is a no brainier even if it didnt work out.....

You must have been living under a rock during the transfer season.

'Slow' 'Declining' 'Ineffective' 'Inferior to Bakoyoko' 'Reject'

All the above were repeated ad nauseam when we were linked with him.

Squads wicked but we are still missing the very top world class proven players in certain positions that other teams have def got. He def ticks that box.
