as usual some tosspot German has-been has advised him not to sign for United. frankly, we can do better as fare as I'm concerned and ancient Germans can go feck themselves (the one in question this time being scouse reject riedle)

I would take this player at OT all day long. He is quality... he fell out of love with the Arsenal project and his form dipped. What do you expect, he's a world cup winner, may well win another WC soon, fantastic age, fantastic experience... has a definitive impact on the games he plays, but he needs a club and manager with the ambition and aspiration that befits his talent and experience. The Gooners, unfortunately, simply do not do that.

He could even play in the CL!! He would be a wonderful signing in January. If there is even a smattering of truth, then I hope we pursue. Mata would need to step aside, because he has had all the time in the world to nail down that spot.

Would trust Jose if he wants him.

But he seems to be highlighted as being a disinterested passenger when his team haven't got the ball these days, and a waste of space in games you have to "Muck in".
How that would sit with Jose I don't know.

Do not want.
Powderpuff.
Makes two of us! Would be very disappointed if the club sanctioned this. Would be a crazy decision.

Knee jerk? He was a forced sub after Welbeck off injured, so either he is not fit or motivated to play. His miss a brutal, but it was not his fault for Arsenal being Arsenal.

Watch the second goal again.

Jose would only have him here if he thought he could be the player he was at Madrid for him, and not the player he has become under Wenger, and Ozil would only join if he wanted Jose to kick his arse into becoming that player again, as clearly self motivation doesn't seem to be his strong point.

Assuming all the above, we'd be crazy to not give it a go.

Lack of teleportation.
Pardon me but I can't get where sarcasm signal is pointing at. Me or @Adisa

Look at the state of Arsenal as a whole. Elnemy tried to press the shooter so he wouldn't be back in time so we can excuse him that. Bellerin just stood there and didn't give a shite getting back into the box. Xakha is a defensive mid, no? Does he even do defensive work? Both CBs were not their main starter nowadays so wouldn't expect them to be great cover for the out injured starters. They tried at least. Arsenal just ended up in this goal outnumbered (outfield player) vs Watford.

How is that to scapegoat Ozil, a no 10? He missed that chance which cost 2 point if one want to be that harsh on him, but to blame for single point left?

My stand by my initial point. Ozil was not expect to play a part this game until Welbeck injury. He was either not fit or motivated to play. Made a terrible miss, but Arsenal being Arsenal was the cause for their conceded goals

i think he doesn't care anymore. that's about it.

I wouldn't mind him for free. or a small sum (less than 20M£) in january. he would offer cover and could be used against the smaller teams, i'm sure he would flourish under mourinho and playing with the freedom offered by our powerful midfield.

I would rather have other players over him, but they are not realistic options so yeah, I would take him for free or very cheap in Jan.

Better at possession than Mkhi and more creative than Mata.

Xhaka is on the edge of the penalty box and behind Cleverly scratching his nose...

Don't know if he's enough (or even any) of an upgrade over Mata now to be worth the hassle.

If/when we look to upgrade Mata, the player needs to have the consistent ability to beat a man and pace imo.

He's clearly not interested in playing for Arsenal. His lack of game time either suggests this or the Arsenal board playing hardball to get him to sign a new contract. Either way, I don't think judging him on current performance is fair and simply put he just doesn't fit in at Arsenal anymore. The fact that he's won the German national team's player of the year 5 years out of the last 6, suggests that he is/was an incredible player, when playing in a system that's more suited to him. And given that he'll cost nothing at the end of the season or maybe £10/15m in January, it's a no brainer to bring him in. Worst case scenario, he doesn't fit in here either and we sell him for a profit.

I won't mind him but then thinking I would not touch a player playing for arsenal. They all look broken and it's not like he is 25 or 26, he is 29 so another player who is a short term fix. I would prefer a lemar or dybala. If we are to compete with this city side we must target world class talents and not past their peak guys.

I reckon we could get him but not on a free. Arse give us 4/5m then it's a done deal, no brainier. Seriously though if he still genuinely wants to play, and more importantly he wants to play for us then why the hell not?

Like a lot of Man Utd fans here at RedCafe, I thought Mourinho was crazy to buy Matic instead of Fabinho. I was wrong. I think I'll trust Mourinho on this one.

Absolutely, definitely. He is a quality player who has fallen out of love with Arsenal. Wouldn't you? The guy is part of a World Cup Winning squad of players... he could benefit from a change of club, more of a challenge. Champions League football. And he may be available?

He would improve our squad. Better than Miki and Mata imo, as it's their roles I would see him challenging.

Just bring him in for £20m in January. He's bound to create more than Matataryan.

And he's not even cup tied.

Well at least he'll create more chances than Mikhi. That's what I'm sure about.

20m for 5 months? Hmm. I feel it's a lot though. A token 10m or just get him on a pre contact and wait it out. Arsenal are now desperate to get rid as he's checked out. Theyd sell imo.

Recalling Pereira could be a better idea as he can cover both wings and centre midfield, including attacking option. Not even sure if Ozil is fully fit for the season and committed enough to play Mourinho's way but Jose's transfers were painfully spot on so far, so perhaps it's worth a risk for a bag of chips.

Big challenge would be to motivate him enough for big games... and that's basically reason I voted 'no'. Hard to trust a player who has no ambition and is a proved quitter. The way he's handling his time at Arsenal is laughable.

If he can get back to 15/16 level it would be an absolute steal, he was statistically more creative that season than KdB has been so far this year, or last season, or Fabregas his first season at Chelsea.

The concern is that he's past his best rather than just can't be fecked at Arsenal, although the latter still isn't a good look. Also contributes zero defensively which is very unlike Mourinho's perfect #10, but he did get the best out of him at Real for those 3 years they worked together.

I think a lot of United fans are living in this pipedream where they believe they can do better. Realistically, how many creative AM's/#10's are there out there better than Ozil? A large portion aren't going to happen (KdB, Isco, David Silva, Messi); the only real logical options are possibly Dybala - who doesn't seem to want to leave Juve and would cost mega money - and Griezmann - who to be honest has strung United along it seems for a while now and they may have competition from Barca.

Seems rather silly to pass up on the opportunity of Ozil if it's there for good value to chase the Griezmann or Dybala which are both far from certainties at best, and at worst unlikely to even want to join.

We would bring him in and then the very posters that wanted him, will be criticizing him and talking about how we need to sign his replacement in summer.

He simply will not meet the standard required. Jesus Christ, have you seen him go missing in the big games. He would be slaughtered.

No better than Mata. This could be like Rooney in 2013, everyone thought it was a dip in form, but maybe its a decline in ability. It looks like he doesn't have the professionalism to defy the passage of time. At the very least, he will probably ask for a 4 year contract, taking him to 33 years of age. We just sorted our Rooney situation, no need to find another one.

He was very good under Mou at Real right? Real Özil would be massive for United. Arsenal Özil would struggle getting of the bench even at Feyenoord.
