Would take Ozil over wasteful Mhiki right now if I could. A front 3 of Martial, Lukaku, and Rashford making runs and Pogba in behind to help creatively with the long passes and Matic breaking up play and distributing the ball, not to mention Valencia with his overlapping runs when the midfield or final third is too congested and goddamn any defense would be split apart. Griezmann is great, but he made the wrong choice staying another year because of moral obligations to a club that have been breaking rules and were banned accordingly. You come through when the club needs you not when you deem it right. Griezmann can screw off along with his dumb celebration after that.

For free or cheap it can't be a bad acquisition. Perhaps not the top notch target he looked a few years ago and the wages will be high, but still a very good player. Worked with Mourinho before as well, meaning he'll integrate quickly.
Only downsides is the possibility of limiting game-time for other players, or that we buy him instead of a more promising player. Neither huge concerns, but real nonetheless.

Basically, what @ti vu already said. Also, looking at our side, once he does finish his job here we will have a squad which is much stronger than the one he inherited. Like in Madrid and Chelsea. Quite opposite of perceived opinion that he leaves his teams in a bad shape.

I am on the fence with this one. But I voted yes because creativity is one of those things that doesn't seem too important till your team lacks it.

I voted no only if it affects our chances to get Griezmann, a player I’d prefer to have but if mourinho likes Ozil and with his current record at United in terms of the quality of players he has bought so far, who am I to argue.
Another problem with this signing is the abundance of 30 year olds in the team that we will have to replace soon, Ozil would be the very definition of a short term signing ala RVP but I'm not sure it's that clear if the upside will be that much. Mata gives us goals even though he isn't as good a playmaker as him and he does work hard, both are unathletic and I don't know if he is that superior to Mkhi who himself I believe has a lot more to show us and is creating for fun right now.
