Get a fecking grip . There's news, there's speculation, and there's downright mindlessness. If, for example, someone starts moaning that only signing Oezil can save United from relegation then they're due a bollocking as they are obviously the type that cares more about a "big name" signing than showing any faith in Fergie and the team.
I obviously touched a nerve.

Now, as for the bolded part, who has said anything even CLOSE to that? Try not to sprain your vagina again, when you answer.

95 pages and counting ... are Man. United closing in on Ozil then?

Oh sorry I see what you are getting all hot under the collar about, apologies. What I meant was that 5 years ago before Glazer that is, we had the clout to snap players like Ozil or at least be in with a shout of competing.
There's nothing to say that we haven't the clout to snap players like Ozil.....providing, of course, that we wanted to buy them in the first place and that they wanted to come here.

Most of the hype around Ozil has been speculation from the news media. You shouldn't take too much notice of them because they link us with almost everyone. It happens every year and every year fans fall for it. Then of course it inevitably leads to fan discontent with management etc because we failed to buy a player that we never wanted to buy in the first place.

Ah FFS, you are a gimp. Optimism has returned a little after yesterdays game, and people are starting to remember that we have a bloody good squad. But you can't deny the over the top spunking over this player. Oezil will be a bonus. He is not a must-have at all. And this thread is full of muppetry implying that Uniteds future depended on getting him, and crying about Fergie not just spending whatever it takes to get him.

I don't think money has got anything to do with it whatsoever. We are not in financial shit to the point that £12m is beyond us.

I strongly believe that Fergie is literally torn on what to do about Ozil. I think, in an ideal world, he would rather be in this situation in 12 months' time when Scholes and Giggs are likely to be retiring but he knows that leaving it 12 months might be too late because if Ozil is on a free, someone like City will come along and offer him something ridiculous like £250k/week that we simply couldn't and/or wouldn't compete with.

Signing Ozil now is almost an admission that he doesn't really believe that Cleverley and Gibson are the future for the midfield. I genuinely believe he wants to give them every chance this season - as he has given them every chance during pre-season to prove their quality and ability to step up.

Again, this is why I think Fergie would like the Ozil option next summer - after he has given Cleverley and Gibson plenty of match time and been able to make a proper decision.

Whether we think Cleverley and Gibson are better than Ozil or not is irrelevant, Fergie has his reasons for keeping the faith in them for now - mostly loyalty, perhaps. Show them loyalty now and he will get it returned in spades for the rest of the time that he remains their manager.

Personally, I discounted the purchase of Ozil the minute Fergie said that Cleverley wasn't going out on loan. Sorry, Ozil fans, I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I think that's pretty much bang on.

It's a bit silly when people bang on about debt being the reason he will end up at a different club to United. Especially when that club is Barca!

No. You stated you werent involving yourself in Glazer commentary anymore when in fact you'd done so about two posts before.

Ozil related, it was hard to avoid but that was as far as it was going, sorry if you were up for another debate, lets end there ok?

I have never said that he is. In fact, I have said on at least two occasions over the last couple of days that I don't give a shit if we sign him or not. That is not my point. My point is, you coming into this thread (which you call "tragic") making definitive statements, when you are no wiser or informed than anyone else. While looking down your nose and insulting people who are merely using the forum as it is intended.

It's fecking lame.

Alright dude, dont get a fourth degree perenial childbirth tear.

I think £12million for a very promising 21 year old who has eyes on the side of his head and is in the last year of his contract would represent a fair figure in today's stagnant market. Speculation or not, the figures that get bandied around in the press are not usually too far out.

It would only be £30million if City got involved.

Earlier it was 25m and people clung on to that. Then some story came about 12m-15m and suddenly his worth was halved and the lower number became the new number.

People are screaming bloody murder that if we don't sign him that are are skint and stupid and SAF is out of his mind if there is no value because we aren't signing him because of this 12m number that was made up.

Yes, 12m for a 21 year old of his ability in the last year of his contract is a fantastic number but, there is no reality to it and clouding a lot of people's arguments as to why we must absolutely go for him.

"lame"? Who the feck talks like that?

It's a definitive statement that we are financially fecked.

It's a definitive statement that we can't compete with our rivals in a bidding war. We need some weird scenario where we are the only serious bidders.

It's a definitive statement that a story about United being close to signing Oezil because Fergie had a big grin is a new low in the history of transfer gossip.

And any long transfer thread like this is "tragic" when the player does not end up at United.

Well, my own view is that up to a point (and I would even consider £25 to be within the boundaries - just), the money is not the driving factor behind the signing or rather non-signing of Ozil and I've attempted to explain why.

I fixed that for you.

Unfortunately, I can't add a "non."

You've got to get that sand out of your vagina; it's making you cranky. Does it itch?

That to me reads like a long list of non definitive statements.

Well, I think our "constrained" financial situation is pretty clear but take it to the Glazer thread if you think that United can outbid Barca, Real or City for a player!
