Mesut Özil

Well, I think our "constrained" financial situation is pretty clear but take it to the Glazer thread if you think that United can outbid Barca, Real or City for a player!

Hang on a cotton pickin' minute. You started it. You clear off to the Glazer thread. Im having a perfectly reasonable conversation about Mezut Ozils prolapsed fish vagina.

No. Everyone's resigned to the fact that it isn't "back" on and probably was never on in the first place.

We're now just arguing as to why it was never on... or not... or something... :wenger:

Trust me, if it can't be off and it can't on, then its simply stand-by. Which means it can either become on, or we switch everything off. Including our swoop for Messi.

No, really, the news that United can splash more cash on a transfer than Real, Barca or City is too good to keep to this tread. It really does need a wider audience.

I think proplapsed Vagina deserves its own thread in the General.

Do you actually enjoy making shit up to argue against?

Alex and Lucy just dropped a fecking bomb did you hear that Spoony?!!!

You said, and I quote: Its a definitive statement that we are financially fecked. This is not definitive.

You said: It is a definitive statement that we cannot compete financially with our rivals. Are Liverpool, Arse not our rivals. Milan, Inter? How much have they spent this summer? Barca, spending money they havent got. Even Chelsea cutting back. In reality you mean City and maybe Real, and even the latter are struggling to stretch for a defender. And you dont actually know how much we can spend.

Oh, and we'd have been able to outspend those sides as a plc would we?

And maybe we'll still sign Ozil and maybe we wont, but it wont be for the want of £12m or whatever.

"Here's some Kelly Rowland a certain German players favourite singer for his arrival in Manchester!"

Alex and Lucy, KEY 103.

Also, Toys R Us Stockport is having a sale if anyone is so inclined.

You must've missed it, Adzz. Moorehouse. Ozil. Hello.

I heard Justin earlier. You have to admire his commitment to Key 103, being on air nearly seven hours. Simply because he knows more than all of us, especially SPORT.ES.

I've a big Cheshire-cat like grin right now after seeing you get so upset actually. Just like Fergie today apparently.
Yeah, I'm just seething over here, throwing out insults in a rage, coming up with strawman arguments to try and save face, etc.

Oh, wait. That's you.

He's a dedicated man. I get the feeling he'll be working until midnight.

Let's phone up his show.

We are in deep shit financially. That is not speculation. That is a fact!
And Real and Barca can outbid us in any bidding war at the moment. I specifically listed Real, Barca and City in my last post.

Our only hope for Oezil was, as Hongistein wrote, that Oezil would turn them down because they could not offer him a starting place unlike us. Fabregas not going may have stopped that being the case with Barca though.

We can't win in a bidding war. We need the player to really want to come to United. At the end of the day that's the key issue for a transfer. Players usually end up where they want to end up.

Nope. Its spaculation. I suggest you read all 27,000 pages of the Glazer thread. The one thing we are not is "financially fecked" or "In deep shit".

Anyway, back on topic please. This thread must make it through the night.

They can play him. They'd have to drop Ibrahimovic or Iniesta though. And the highly promising Pedro (who I'd put at at least Ozil's level) would remain a sub. Not impossible, but they'd really be spoilt for choice. If Fabregas then went, it would be fairly crazy.

Mind you, and without suggesting that we have the same quality in midfield, it's not THAT dissimilar for us. It would be fairly easy for him to play in the hole in the tough matches where we go 4-5-1. In other games, we'd have to drop Berbatov, which would I think be a shame as it would kill his chances of doing himself justice, or one of Valencia or Nani, who don't deserve it and who are at the same level I would say. While he's clearly a very promising player, and very tempting, I don't think he's a no-brainer for us. We could actually do with more of a physical attacking player for midfield/attack I think.

Well, we can argue about the correct adjectives and metaphors to use all day long. But we're not in as strong a position as Real, Barca and City. Barca have big debts, but as we all know, Spanish banks give Real and Barca a free ride which United can only dream of.

Its not like a Spanish side to stockpile more attacking players than they can actually field in one season.....

City aside has it ever been thus?

Sure. It's not necessarily wise, though. They really have enough, and it's not like they have lots of money, especially if they want to nab Fabregas some time soon. Maybe they think any deal for Fabregas is too difficult/expensive. I think they could get him next season, but they'll still have to pay at least £35m. I guess it must be tempting to pay much less for Ozil.

Doesn't help when the player in question is saying things like:-

"I have been a fan of Barcelona since childhood. I can not describe exactly what it is but there is something that I love about the team."

Well, I think it's just about possible that Oezil would have turned down Barca if they had bought Fabregas. But of course, top players have big egos and will always back themselves to break into any first XI, so maybe not.

Good shout that. Not sure who though. I dont think we'd spend too much on them simply because youve then got to accommodate another big buy witt Flecther et al in an already congested midfield. Better would be an up and coming talent who could play a part but be eased in.

Im not sure the Spaniards make decisions based on how wise they are....

I disagree. I think we have enough promising players in that position - especially Anderson and Cleverley. There is space in the team if we buy someone top drawer. Anything less and it's just another player in the mix with Giggs, Park, Anderson, Cleverley, or Berbatov, Hernandez, Owen, Diouf, depending on which way you look at it.

Really the obvious 'place' in the team is a partner for Fletcher. But when I say place we have loads of players who can be very good there - just no one single choice. Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Anderson...

Of those, you'd have to think Carrick or Anderson are the future. So, I think we either have to back or sack Carrick, basically. It would be very harsh to dump him.

Its got to be a back hasnt it. He knows he was shite last year. Let him put it right. Its not like we dont know he's got it in him.

Well, is that quote definitely legit?

Again though, if Barca could not guarantee him a regular starting place, while Fergie could, then his fandom may have had its limits.
