...The fact that some people are trying to shoe-horn him in to a central midfield position suggests that the desire to sign him has completely over-ridden all other considerations. And that's just not a particularly good reason to sign anyone, in my opinion, no matter how talented they are.

Wrong forum. This is where shoehorning happens. In fact, we harvest shoehorns here and barter them for bad grammar, which gets exported to the general.

Well, is that quote definitely legit?

Again though, if Barca could not guarantee him a regular starting place, while Fergie could, then his fandom may have had its limits.

Fergie couldnt guarantee him a first team place. If he was below par there are plenty to relegate him to the bench. Ive realised youre a wally so will argue with you no more. Goodnight all. Im off to dream of vaginas.

I've been back and forth about a midfielder. I think SAF may give Carrick a chance. Not to mention Anderson and Cleverly. We need to address the problem though, one way or another

Ozil wouldn't have a guaranteed starting place even with us unless we consistently drop one of Nani, Valencia, Giggs, Berbatov.

If we play 2 strikers then one of the wingers would have to get dropped to have Ozil start

If we play 1 striker then you drop either Giggs/Park or even Gibson/Cleverly for him to be guaranteed a start - perhaps again drop one of the wingers.

Really if he does come - he is not going to be a every game starter. Right now there are very few - they in defense, goal or Rooney. Everyone else will get rotated - Ozil be one of those.

The whole notion that he'd choose us over Barca due to starting is bit off - either place he goes, he'll have to fight for a place each week.

That is a good point.

Why does he have to be an automatic starter for us to sign him? Is Hernandez going to play every game?

hasn't he signed for barca today?

Some reports claim Barca and Werder have agreed a fee, just needs Pep to give the go-ahead.

Also, apparently Sky Bet have suspended betting on Ozil leaving Werder, before they suspended betting Barca were installed as favorites (atleast that's what I read)

Its the one thing that might convince him to come here rather than Barca.

At the moment though, there doesn't appear to be much to the Barca rumours. I'm not saying he won't go there, but as of now, the usual, reasonable sources have said nothing about it.

Can someone explain Moorhouse to me? Is anything said by him to be taken seriously?

I'm afraid I can't help you, I have no idea who or what that is.

I hope he comes here with some sort of gratitude of the scale of club he's coming to rather than us having to plead with him and give him a million reasons to do so. United is a giant club and NO signing is guaranteed a first choice place in the team, especially not a 21 year old.

Don't get me wrong, I want him at United. But we've won three league titles in the last four years, there are not many 21 year olds who would be guaranteed first choice at our club.

Says everything you need to know about Spanish clubs.

Other than Hogenstein article - several people think that the reason he might go with United over Madrid or Barca is because he'd be a starter here but, not there. It's not about why we'd sign him but, why he would choose United.

With a year left on his contract he has bit of choice as to where ends up and it might enter his consideration.

Thanks to this thread, my cock has been in and out more than a Scouser in a job centre.

@barcastuff "Guardiola has rejected the transfer of Ozil. [cadena ser]"

"There's a verbal deal with Ozil for 4 seasons, contacts with Werder Bremen (fee maximum 15M) but Guardiola prefers the youth players. [rac1]"

Pure fecking shambles.

Heh-he. According to various Spanish types on Twitter Guardiola has rejected the idea of signing the lad even though they'd worked out a 4 year contract and a fee.
