?1?1?1? needs to be a Scholes type player or Carrick when he was good. I can only think of Sneijder who could fill this role.

?2?2?2? needs to be combative, creative and energetic like a better version of Park, an in form Anderson or James Milner.

I can't see how Ozil would be accomodated without completely changing the system.

What fecking formation is that? :lol:

I thought ?2?2?2?2 would be a replacement for VDS :lol:

I think either Real or Chelsea or some Italian team will get him!

The German press is linking him to Real Madrid. However, with Jose as a new coach, Perez can't simply buy players on his own. Pellegrini might have accepted that crap, but Mourinho is havin none of this so Mourinho is apparently going to meet Özil to see whether he can bee a good transfer target.
 
It'd be difficult to lineup Ozil in the same team as Canales and Di Maria, two of Madrid's new signings for next season. But here's a stab at it :

Now thats extremely gung ho for Mourinho. None of Di Maria, Canales or Ozil are going to defend all that well which leaves it a bit "Brazil" with having 2 midfielders do all of the defending. It would be a shock for Mourinho to play such an open side... And if he wanted to do that he has Kaka to come in anyway. Cant really see him going to Madrid, especially as his favoured club is Barcelona.

Before anyone asks, yes I've seen Ozil play on the right before and its something he can do. Whether it'll get the most out of him is another question entirely...

All this City/Perez funny money is just inflating prices.

For which the reason could be twofold: either he truly thinks our squad is ready to compete in all four competitions, or . . .

Bear in mind Anderson's place in that team could also be filled by Carrick, Gibson, Giggs or Scholes...great depth if we line up like that.

I just put Anderson in there with a hopeful look toward the future.

So £32m for Villa isn't value? There's value in the market you just have to hope City aren't interested in the same player. Lets not get all high and might about our squad, our creativity isn't the best and the fact that alot seems to get tanted about whether or not 'they' can get in ahead of Giggs.. he's on his last legs the less games he plays the better, we can no longer rely on him or Scholes to give us a full season they are the most drop-able players in our squad because as far as i am concerned they are a luxury to us. £20m for this guy is his justified price and thats because he had a good world cup (why should that not come into the picture) it proves he can perform on the big stage does it not?!

Think you read into half the argument here. Another poster stated that Milner was valued at 30million so Ozil should be valued at 25million and be a bargain. I pointed out that an elite player like Villa went at 32million. And those players aren't even close to him in terms of influence on a game and ability.
True though that theres a normal club price and a Man Utd price then when you put Man City VAT on that we are out of the equation.
Well a good world cup does not exactly prove you can perform on the big stage?
El Hadji Diouf? Stephane Guivarch, Jon Dahl Tomasson? all big name transfers after world cups to premier league and all big flops. A good world cup does not make a good player. Jury's out for me on Ozil i would take him but not at the prices quoted.

He'll have to be starting now and again otherwise why would Mourinho pull the plug on the already agreed loan at Racing this season where he was starting every week and making the headlines? Either he's going to be given lots of chances or else it makes no sense whatsoever to take him into the squad.
 
We're not likely to buy him, it's a shame. He's the one player out there I'd just really like to see at the club. If £20m isn't good value for him given the WC he's had, the fact that City paid £25m for Silva and the fact that Milner seems to be around £30m then I don't know what the feck value is anymore. Yes there's a year left on his contract, but so what? All that means is that if he goes and signs a new 4 year contract he'll cost £30m+ next Summer.

It's likely to be Madrid or Arsenal though, probably the former, which would disgust me really. I'm not one of those folks who thinks we need big game players and the squad isn't good enough, quite the opposite actually, I'm very satisfied with the depth, experience and growth of the squad, but Ozil is one player I genuinely think could add a lot to it, ahead of the likes of Dzeko, Benzema or whomever who would just be a bit of a waste of money really, due to the striking options already available now and long-term.

The Sun says Ferguson is back on the trail of Germany World Cup ace Ozil.

The Manchester United boss missed out signing him as a teenager but has kept tabs on the player he calls "the ghost".

Fergie is aware Ozil, 21, has only a year left on his deal with Werder Bremen, who want to cash in before the midfielder is available on a free.

The Bundesliga side did want £20million to let Ozil move on but have now dropped their asking price by £8m.

United's transfer kitty is tight but if a deal can be struck Fergie will push hard to get the cash.

By the way, the article says dropped by £8 million from the £20 they were after... So £12 million.
 
For 12 mil he'd be wirth a punt by any team. I'm still not sure about him though.
 
12million? He'll def leave this summer - where he goes is another question. I just hope its to us.

It would be a bargain but it often is in the last year of a player's contract, as they are desperate to sell before they become free agents.
 
Sneijder is nothing at all like Carrick or Scholes (as he currently plays), he is the exact same kind of player as Ozil.

And the combative, energetic player is already in the team, he's called Darren Fletcher.

Your theory didn't really make sense though. Ozil could easily fit into our system playing infront of Fletcher + Carrick/Scholes.

The formation is pretty simple to work out. He was eluding to the fact Rafael and Evra play pretty much as full back. The person inbetween is suppose to be a holding midfield player.

Having said that, his formation didn't go anyway to showing why Ozil wouldn't fit into our system. Which was his whole point.
 
With certain targets either falling away or not being realistic to begin with, it does start to appear that Ozil is the one remaining player in the pack that we might still be in the market for.

There has not been any evidence that United are trying to buy a player. Everything so far has been media speculation or agents trying to drum up business.
