Yeah that story is week or so old now. After it - his coach said something of wanting to keep him as they are in the CL play off (to get to the group stages) and there have been no offers though he only has a year left on his contract.

That wasn't anything to do with body strength - that was diving on contact.

It wasn't a dive. Watch the replays.

His first touch is poor, behind his body. He is leaning back to try and recover the ball, this put him off balance. Ramos then in his challenge DID make contact with Ozil's right leg, the right leg clipped his left leg and he tripped and went down.

If Ozil's first touch is good and he still has a chance to get a shot off it's a penalty. Since he botched it, lost possession of the ball and they clattered into each other, it isn't a penalty.

Did he look for a penalty after being barged into and going down? Yes. Was it a penalty? No. Sometimes I think people have become so inundated by diving that anything they see that is not a blatantly obvious foul is a "dive".

It doesn't take much contact to bring someone down who is running and off balance.

Spot on.

SIR Alex Ferguson is ready to make a £25million swoop for Germany’s Mesut Ozil after Wesley Sneijder announced he wants to stay with Inter Milan.
Code:

Manchester United boss Ferguson is looking for a playmaker to replace veteran Paul Scholes, who has suggested next season could be his last.
Ozil fits the bill with his superb skill, passing ability and shooting power. Ferguson was tracking Ozil, 21, before his World Cup exploits for Germany shot him to prominence.
Werder Bremen are resigned to losing Ozil, who has a year left on his contract, with the player tempted by a move to the Premier League.
“I want to win trophies and there are two clubs in England, United and Chelsea, who win trophies,” he said.
The £25m-rated Sneijder rejected the money-spinning interest of United to pledge his future to Inter.
Joint top scorer in South Africa with five goals, Sneijder will open new contract talks with Inter president Massimo Moratti, after bidding for an unprecedented haul against Spain in the World Cup final.
Having won the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia at Inter under Jose Mourinho, who has since moved to Real Madrid and been replaced by Rafa Benitez, Sneijder wants to extend his deal to 2015. He said: “I will stay. I will play next season with Inter. My heart is in Milan.”
Ferguson has revealed Owen Hargreaves will miss the start of the season after suffering an injury setback.
It was hoped he could join United on tour - they leave for a training camp in Chicago on Monday - but Ferguson said: “Owen is in America seeing a specialist. He will not be ready for the start of the season. I do not know when he will be back.”

No quotes, not even the obligatory 'sources', just a rehashed line from Ozil about us and the chavs. Nothing story, zip your pants back up.

They're staying undone, but I'll keep the lube to one side 'til we get some quotes.

This transfer is happening lads, it has to. The muppet in me can feel it.

Let's not be too serious on the quotes, but face it... In reality if this lad does not consider to extend his contract... Le'Arse/Renties and even us would go for the lad for sure, the cut price might even be 20m but as most of this BS is just speculation who knows how much he'd go for... Same to Simon Kjaer who moved for just 12m when Palermo wanted not less than 15m for him.

Let's just monitor the situation, I"m sure SAF rates this lad and if he's around 18m or something... that is certainly good value in the market and I"m sure we'd go for a bid as he fits the bill PERFECTLY.

Well looking at this in a logical point of view (which I know is frowned upon here but bare with me)

If SAF was interested in Sneijder then he seemingly in for a AM..

If he was apparently ready to pay 29 Million on a 26/27 yo I don't see why he would be against spending a similar amount on a player who is 4/5 years younger..

SAF was interested in Ozil before he signed for Werder Bremen but came in with a bid too late as Ozil had already agreed to join them.. So SAF probably is still interested..

Most big clubs IMO are not in need of a AM probably Chelsea and Barca incase Cesc doesn't work out.. or Arsenal if it does.. Real have decided to keep Canales and already have Kaka, Van Der Vaart & Guti.. Also they seem to be in the market for a Box to Box rather than a AM..

So If I get out my Essien Calculator.. By my calculations we should be interested in an AM and most probably even Ozil..

You must have picked up a knock-off. A genuine Essien Calculator TM would give you the date of signing, the squad number and dressing room spot, not to mention mundanities like transfer fee, add-on bonuses, wages and contract length.

feck! I have been cheated..

Zlatan, what you can do with an orange, Ozil can do with a chewing gum.

Your calculations are based on false assumptions.

"I don't know where those reports about Sneijder came from," Ferguson told the Mail on Sunday. "How can anybody turn me down when I haven't even made a bid?"

Sir Alex Ferguson denies making bid for Wesley Sneijder | Football News | ESPN.co.uk

TBF , from those statements, it only looks as though we haven't made a formal bid for Sneijder. As I suspected, the numbers floating around have been cooked by journos.

There is nothing to suggest we didn't inquire about Sneijder. That seems the most likely chain of events - we inquire about Sneijder, Moratti goes to the press and shoots his mouth off as a negotiating tactic, Sneijder hears about it and either doesn't want to leave Inter where he is undoubtedly the star man or wants to appease his GF in case she starts to suspect she'll have to leave Milan.

Ozil pledges future to Bremen
Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil on Sunday pledged his future to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, despite attracting the attentions of Europe's top clubs at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old was an integral part of the team which clinched its second successive third place spot at the finals, when it beat Uruguay 3-2 in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

European giants Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been reported to have expressed an interest in the attacking midfielder.

Barcelona had apparently been prepared to let him stay at Werder till next year and offer two players to the German club if Ozil signed for them now.

But Ozil says he will be staying put in Bremen until 2011 and will be playing in the Bundesliga when the new season starts on August 20.

"Bremen want me to fulfil the contract and so do I," he told German newspaper Bild on Sunday.

"I have always said that I want to fulfil my contract, that is important for me."

European champions Spain - who beat Germany 1-0 in the semi-finals - take on the Netherlands - 3-2 victors over Uruguay - later on Sunday at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
There ya go then

Pointless from their point of view, they're not a rich club and cashing in on him now would certainly make much more sense than letting him go for nothing next year. They would probably receive around £20m which in Germany would allow them to bring two or three new players on long-term deals.

Shame. I think it's time for our secret transfer weapon when all else fails, unleash the Neville upon him

I'm sure United would prefer him to see out his contract and sign for free next year. More so than our richer rivals who might rather secure his services now, even for a significant fee.

Taking advantage of Bosman is the sensible thing to do. Akinfeev and Ozil next year for free would be fantastic value...
