Ideally, keeping hold of Berbatov and signing Ozil would be the best option. But having said that, if we need to sell players to raise funds, then Berbatov would be my first sacrificial lamb.
Realistically, I don't think we will get hold of Ozil as we tend to miss out on this type of signing. But a man can dream eh?

It won't happen, it's as simple as that. Özil wants fame and the biggest stages of club football, not only money.Plus Silva and Ozil are best suited to the same position. Having signed one, there's no need for the other. Just like if we'd signed Silva we'd be very unlikely to also go after Ozil. Luckily we didnt pursue Silva this summer.

Basically Barcelona and Madrid are greedy clubs and don't care whether they have already enough players in that position or not. If he gets an offer from Barca, he'll go there. In the not very probable case he doesn't get an offer from Spanish clubs this or next season, I can see him going to Chelsea. Manchester United on the other hand can't afford him.

As long as barcellona think they can get fabregas they wont try to sign ozil. So we should get this done before they turn their interests elswhere.
I don't think the potential problem with Ozil comes from Madrid or Barca. Rather, Chelsea and City who can out-gun us completely. We can only hope Ozil has good taste. That's our hope.
United aren't realistic players in the Ozil type of market at the moment. Only way we'll get him is if he declares that United are the only team he wants to play for.

I understand Fergie not spending £30M+ on a striker or winger, or even someone like De Rossi, because I feel we are well equipped in these areas, for now. But the position that Ozil plays, we have no one like this. We haven't had for years. Park done OK, Anderson I do not rate that highly and then we have tried to use players like Gibson, Fletcher, Scholes and Giggs supporting Rooney. All have done their bit, but I think they look more suited in their familiar positions. Ozil is worth spending big money for. I hope Fergie signs him or at least someone who plays his role - Silva would have been good, but there are others.

I disagree. We were in for him in january and he opted to stay for one more year. I doubt if he becomes available now we wont jump at the chance to go for him. & despite what many think, there wont be that much competition. People like Barca, Chelsea Arsenal and Real have their sights firmly on other targets.

Real Madrid don't need him. They need a player like Schweinstieger more and are going for Di Maria. Barca are going for a Fabregas and will get him plus possibly Mata. Chelsea are going for forwards and another holding player. While Arsenal have already started to sound out Gourcuff.
