Werder Bremen ace Mesut Ozil is keen to make the move to the English Premier League according to reports.

The 21-year old Germany international is attracting plenty of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City due to impressive World Cup performances and says he would be open to a Premiership move although he is currently focused on Saturday’s quarter-final clash with Argentina.

"The World Cup is all that matters at the moment,” Ozil said.

"When I get back we can think about my future, but for for now it's not something I want to give a lot of thought to. To the top players the Premier League is attractive.

"You look at what Manchester United and Chelsea have achieved over the last five years and you see it would be easy to be successful at two clubs like that.”

Ozil added that he would love to emulate the achievements of Germany star Michael Ballack with Chelsea but also hinted that a move to Spain’s La Liga could be an option.

"I see what Michael Ballack achieved at Chelsea and the quality of players he played with and the temptation becomes obvious,” he added.

"Trophies are what matters to me. There are two teams in England always at the top and of course that's attractive. But the same is true for La Liga.

"They're the strongest leagues in the world."

Isn't a get me plea for Chelsea, Gambito. He is just whoring himself around. His agent started off about Barcelona. Now this. Next he'll talk about the prestige associated with the milan sides.

He knows he has put himself in the window and will move. He is looking for prospective suitors. Hope he has an inkling of sense and moves not only for the money unlike Silva.

He mentioned Chelsea, which is more than is normally needed for a media come and get me plea style story. Thinking about it though the perfect place for him to go would be Chelsea, he would fit right into their first team. The only other one I can think of would be AC Milan as their midfield desperately needs freshening

His agent mentioned last week how it was his dream to play for Barcelona. But yes, Chelsea would be ideal for him considering they are current champions, have an opening in midfield and had Michael Ballack for years.

They've got a fair few openings in midfield. Seriously unless Chelsea have some youth player they want to bring in it would be a perfect fit.

I think he would really complete them. The two things they lack in their players are genuine dribbling ability and someone who can provide guile and class from midfield. It's actual very similar to what we lack!
 
I have a feeling he has planned this out well. Fair play. Imo, he has really picked up his game in the WC vs. his usual performance at Werder and he wants to make the most of it. Barca are pretty well stacked in midfield, so AC or Chelsea would make sense. I wonder if Werder would sell if Bayern came in with an offer.

If Fabregas leaves than I think Wenger is gonna make a move to sign Ozil or if Arsenal and Barcelona can't agree on a price regarding Fabregas than Barcelona will make a move to sign him. I just hope that we can splash the required money to sign this lad, he'll be well worth the money spent.
 
I say it depends on Arsenal. If they sell Cesc, it's between us and Chelsea. If they remain stubborn, the ball is in Barca's court. They can get Ozil if they wanted, but they also want Fabregas at the club long term so if it's not this year then next, can they afford the space for the two signings albeit potentially 1 summer apart?

I'm hoping their stiffy for cesc is at full throttle.

Surely with the money from Ozil, Wenger could get Ozil - I guess United and Chelski are more of a lure though.
 
I personally don't think he'd go to arsenal after reading the comments he's made. I think he wants to go to a club wher he will win things and we all know arsenal arr not going to win anything soon. City are are defo on the up but don't think that would help Özil as at his time as a player at the moment he needs to go to an established successful team to further his development. Ourselves and chelsea would be the ideal teams for him. Ofcourse im bias so i hope its us but chelsea would be good for him to as they probably play more like the german team do, in as formation i mean.

But i think we do have a good chance of signing him as we wanted to before, apperently, but came in too late with an offer. Also he has mentioned us in the above comments so we have a good chance as any fout clubs which i think will be us, chelsea, barca & real!

I think it will be Chelsea. Were not in for him. He would cost to much.
 
The signing we've been waiting for, seriously. To let this lad slip would be a regretful decision - as happened with Ronaldinho and Zidane. Third time lucky.

Doesn't depend entirely on one signing, obviously. But we need to strengthen this squad if Europe is a target before SAF leaves, anyone could see that last season.

Ozil is exactly the type of player we need though, and only a fool would rule out signing him.

I to really hope we sign him, would add a great dimension to our play. At end of day saf is no mug. He will do all he can to get him, if he wants him. But then if we're all going to keep saying glazers won't give him the money etc then i say let's stop talking about transfers then!

Also lets not forget chelsea have let a few players go and made some room for new additions, where as we haven't. So i really do think we will be seeing some out goings before anymore in comings!
 
Signing this player would excite me. He's the type we desperately need in our midfield.

I'm not saying I don't want him, I'm saying we more than likely will not be signing him.

Edit: In fact I'm fairly sure we won't be signing as he'll cost a fortune.

Thats the thing though Gambit, he won't! 1 year left on his contract which means that his price won't be too bad. Sure it will be alot, probably mid 20 bracket. But surely thats worth taking considering his age and his potential, surely isn't this the type of signing that Ferguson was talking about last season when he ruled out buying OAP's?

If it meant selling Berbatov for 20million to raise funds, would the caf be open to it?

If it meant selling Berbatov in part x for an xbox the caf would be up for it. 1 year on the contract doesn't matter, there'll be a bidding war for his services now. Didn't Benzema have just 1 year left on his contract? Actual question, I can't remember.
