Ozil has impressed at the WC for sure and he had a good season with Bremen. For some reason though, he has always reminded me of another player, a favourite of mine, Diego. Bag loads of talent but a transfer to the worng team at the wrong time has really blovked his development.

I just don't think there is much point in desperately hoping for new faces. It only lines a fan up for a disappointment. Creating threads about Ozil coming to United is madness. The lad will play another season at his current club and God knows where he will go after that but it won't be for cheap
I would imagine the skill in getting a player like Ozil at the right price would have been making a move for him January 2010 and arranging some sort of post World Cup contract that ties him to United from August 2010 onwards

Well if he stays a year longer he'll go for free, he's just got a year left on his contract. I can't see him signing an extension just to improve his package for his final year and hampering his chances of moving due to buy out clauses which will no doubt be in place should a new contract be signed.

Ozil isn't just a winger. His talent gives him plenty of versatility. You can easily imagine him in a centre pairing with Fletcher. He's got the vision and creative passing to hold his own.

Gambit, neither is Ozil... he can play wide but he is a central playmaker in a somewhat free role for Germany. He plays both positions just fine

Well thats not how it works for a start. Else Berbatov could play central midfield.
You need defensive positioning and battling qualities if you are to take up a central midfield position, especially in a midfield 2. Ozil is a winger or in the hole, because there he's free from defensive responsibility. And also because thats where all his experience has come, not in central midfield.

They havent bought him. And the story hasnt even made its way onto the Valencia site I post on. So I wouldnt even take the rumours that Barcelona are trying to buy him as fact. Just a rumour thats yet to be confirmed as concrete.
