Mesut Özil

He's young and looks a genuine top European prospect. So, no chance we'll get him. Doesn't really represent good 'value'.

He reminds me a bit of kaka, the way he runs with the ball is so effortless.

Yup unfortunately it will, we'll probably go and spunk a combined load that it would take to sign someone like that on a couple of 16 year old unheard ofs (of which we could have used that money to buy Ozil or a player of that quality) which makes it doubly annoying for me as it proves the money is there its just we oddly chose to spend it on total unknowns over and over again ahead of special young talent thats shown hes good enough.

That’s what i don’t get in the midst of all this value nonsense, were strangely very happy to spunk tens of millions around on total unknown kids who weve no idea will be good enough or not yet we turn our noses up at true proven quality and young quality at that (whilst claiming we like buying young players:confused:) and whinge about value, wouldn’t we surely be better off with 1 Ozil for 25-30 million than 4 Dioufs/Obertans/Hernandez's and Smallings for 30?

I dunno what Fergie regards as value these days but it aint what the rest of the world considers value.

Ozil 25 million > Hernandez/Diouf/Obertan/Smalling 30 million

Whats better value there?

So it took less than 3 hours for Hernandez to trash your case! Brilliant.

He would be the perfect buy for United this summer. Him and Neuer, both young & play in positions where United need reinforcement.

Great performance. What impressed me the most was his workrate during the match. His footballing brain is great, he knows when to slow things down and when to speed things up.Great passing and clever to slot the ball through Cashley's leg

He creates so many goals popping up in a left sided crossing position and just laying the ball on a plate for the striker as he did today. I must have seen him do it 6 or 7 times already.

Its amazing to think hes only 21 years old and how in the space of a year hes destroyed England both at U21 and senior level, quite a rise really, hes gone from being one of Germanys best youngsters in the u21 side to being the main man of their senior national team leading their world cup charge.

He'd be perfect at United.

We wont get him though :(

This lad is frighteningly good. He's easily been the most impressive at the World Cup so far (although his team-mate Schweinsteiger has been quietly putting in quality performances).

His intelligence and vision is what's most impressive. I've lost count of how many times he's found himself in one-on-one situations because of his impressive movement off the ball. Constantly drifting into space and almost always choosing the right option when it comes to picking out the pass.

Extremely good young player, although it helps that the German team is essentially built around him... But that is just to his credit. Only 21 and he's the focal figure of a very impressive German side.

Ozil chasing down Barry for Muller's "nail on the coffin" assist was embarrassing. Made Barry look like he was playing for an under-14 physically handicapped girls side. Oh wait he does.

He's going to get a ridiculous amount of money thrown a him from either City, Chelsea, Real or Barca.

Hope he's got half a brain (off the field) and realises he would do wonders at United.

Can understand if he goes to Madrid or Barca, love of Spain and all that but will bemoan if he moves to Chelsea or City.

Dont think he'll go to Barca yet they already have players of that type aplenty, i mean christ where would he play? so no i dont think he'll be going there but i do think Chelsea and Madrid will be serious bidders for his services, hed be perfect for Ancelottis favoured diamond system....dont think Citys a realistic option their a small club and i dont think Ozil would leave Bremen for them with all the other offers from major clubs he'll have on the table.

Honestly if he goes to Chelsea id really fear for our chances next season.

That is true, and they cant pick anyone over Lampard his role is top notch for Chelsea. The team is built around him

I don't see him going to Madrid given their system as I don't see him, Kaka' and Ronaldo all on the pitch together, Barcelona just don't need him and I doubt City can attract him unless money is his main motivation, that leaves Chelsea and Arsenal from those rumoured to be interested.

Chelsea will have the same problem as England in fitting Lampard and Ozil in the same team.

Nope. Because unlike with England, one of them can play properly as a winger. Ozil can play on the left or the right. He did that before last season which was his only season at the head of a diamond.

Malouda played well on the left last season, but can also play in a midfield 3 and both of them doubling up on one wing could be disaster for the opposition.

Delete your post before Abramovich reads it.

Nowhere to play for Barca at the moment. Same with Real, and he's not Galactico enough for them anyhow. Although you never know with Mourinho's influence.

He'd probably laugh at City. Arsenal can't afford him or won't afford him. Doubt he's going to Italy.

So that leaves Chelsea, United and Bayern, as they get all the best Germans eventually. He could pull a Ballack, play a few years for Bayern, then jump to Barca.

If he hasn't extended his contract then he shouldn't cost 30-40m with one year remaining. I figure 15-20m would do it. Unless a bidding war starts up.

I agree with everything you said, but I disagree about his pricing. This kid will go for at least 35m, he's been the best player of the World Cup ffs, by some way.

I'm praying that SAF has firm designs on him. He's the Scholes replacement from Heaven, but he'll cost.

Just fecking imagine this -

---------------------------VDS-------------------------
Raphael-----------Rio------------Vidic-------------Evra
---------Fletcher----------------------Anderson---------
Valenicia------------------Ozil----------------------Nani
--------------------------Rooney--------------------------

Or this -

---------------------------VDS---------------------------
Raphael-----------Rio------------Vidic-------------Evra
Valencia----------------Fletcher--------------------Nani
---------------------------Ozil----------------------------
-------------Hernandez-----------Rooney----------------

if i were chelsea, id prefer lampard over ozil.

I wouldn't, just look at the difference in class at International level, the lad would get in the England team any day over Lampard (yes I'm aware it's different at Chelsea). But even then, you could fit both of them in.

Would a club really bid that much when he can be signed for nothing in January?

City would probably tap him up, tell him to not extend, and come January give him a 20m sign on fee as part of a pre-contract. The feckin Russian would probably do something similar.

Must say, this guy is flippin amazing.

Just checked out his Wikipedia page and found his age - I'm 21 (born October 88) and he's only 11 days older than me. It's not just his ability on the ball and passing ability, it's his head. He's remarkably mature and makes a good decision virtually every time. He also looked completely relaxed on a big stage - no sign of nerves or doubt, he believed in his ability and looked completely at ease making a mockery of the defence.

Tremendous player - would love him at United, but unlikely to get him.
